Alccol v0.9 is near the release, too (with both english and spanish translations). Must I update it in a few hours to see it in BWP?

I plan to do a minor update upto BWP v8.1.1 when Miloch's updates are out.

so maybe e(X)pert could be renamed to (D)ebug, (I)nsane, (U)nplayable, (V)ery Buggy or maybe "E(X)treme Debugging Required!!!"

That's not "Expert," son, that's "Foolish".

If anyone lists the mods that are bothering you, I will add an option to exclude those mods to my install.bat v8.2.

Seeing how the new BWS can let you check/uncheck mods with ease, it'd be better if the "questionable" mods are just unchecked by default and not outright removed from the BWP (maybe someone, somewhere wants to play an overpowered imba game ... :shifty: Ok, stop looking at me now :P)

And since all compatible mods are installable using the BWP, shouldn't the user be able to install those mods if he/she wants them?? (Ofcourse, you'll have to manually check them though :P)

Cheers,

@Lollorian: This would be another version. At least in the link-list.
THINK! - It's not illegal.

Would that mean another "install mode" (other than the 5 present now - Standard/Tactic ... etc :P)?? That's even better IMHO

Cheers,

Oh, come on. We did tell you that we don't really like more work, did we? ;)
Of course it is possible to add another 300 colors and as many statements in the "installer" -- but:

Does it make sense?
Is the work / effect - ratio worth it?
Who will keep an eye on such things?

And in this case:
Does it make sense to just add another hint in the link-list (if whole mods are affected) or do we really need to edit the batches ?

From my point of view, you just should not download stuff that you don't like.
So it would be helpful to add some hints that show you what you better leave out.

It would be helpful to include some kind of rating for different aspects of a mod, but there is not really such a thing.
Like quality, banters, fun, quests, and all that stuff.

But anyway, my final thought about that (and it does not have to be the one of the guys):
The BWP team is too small to do all that stuff that you and we would like to do.
So there has to be some priority-list... and at least I think that adding more and more preselections is not the top one.
If mods really "destroy" the game, it may be worth a look to leave them out, though.

Conclusion: If you want to push that or any other aspect of the BWP, help out and things may speed up.
THINK! - It's not illegal.

Oh, Miloch already mentioned Quayle and Varshoon! That's great :) Thx for that, Miloch! Also there is a new version of Gardens, but if the previous one was ok for BWP, this also should be fine. I just made corrections and included ScuD's corrections. I am not sure, but I think that Quayle was already on BWP list, but as a only-in-polish project.

There will be a new version of Jan's Extended Quest this week-end, with the german translation.
Let's have a look at this page, when it's done, particularly the little flags.

Just a note that Aurora is v3 (up from v2) but most significantly for the BWP, the component numbers have changed somewhat (due to technical reasons I won't delve into here) but anyway, any batch files that use component numbers will have to be revised.

Edit: oh, and you can now also install it either before or after Ashes of Embers and it will still take the weapon changes from that mod if it's installed. But I still think AoE should be moved to after other mods that add weapons, because there are very few mods that account for the possibility of it being installed beforehand.

P5Tweaks is also v3 up from v2, but the component numbers haven't changed and the download link should be the same. Same goes for Unique Containers once I get confirmation back on the German Translation.

As for mods that should be excluded... I think there's been enough sentiment in this thread to warrant excluding Exnem's Vault. Certainly, it should be moved from "standard" to the so-called "expert" (aka "insane" or "foolish") install, because it messes with your random treasure tables and otherwise puts in a whole lot of super-overpowered stuff.

If anyone lists the mods that are bothering you, I will add an option to exclude those mods to my install.bat v8.2.

To repeat what we've said here and in other threads, these are the ones I think are pretty far out there due to content that is too out of place for the FR:
- Exnem's Vault
- Holy Hand Grenade
- Adventures in Papperland

I guess we can leave Jerry Zinger and Cloakwood Squares if people like them, but they are still a bit out-of-character I think.

Any others?

These mods aren't available, are unfinished or unsupported:
- Black Rose Part I: Market Prices
- Wikaede Revisited (NPC)
- Moongaze's Kari (NPC)
If someone has them and wants to tack them onto their installs, I guess there's nothing stopping them, but I don't think that's a good enough reason to include them in any of the BWP install options.

- Holy Hand Grenade
- Adventures in Papperland
- Jerry Zinger
- Cloakwood Squares

The "Out of character" mods could form their own category, named as OoC mods. The BWS can then give you option to choose them or not. Easy enough? Sorry dabus, as you have to program that.

The Exam's Vault deserves it's place in the Expert install.

Market Prices can still be found on the net if you search hard enough :whistling:

I'm not sure that "Full Plate and Packing Steel" works well enough in a Big World install to be anything other than in expert, it has an interesting premise but the execution is lacking to the point that only about half of the armour in the expanded game is converted to the new system, also it does not seem suited to lower levels, nerfing armour to the point where most characters wear leather or nothing.
There's a fine line between Genius and Madness... And I'm sure I could find it if my space hamster hadn't hidden my glasses.

Yeah, but that's not the updated mod the BW requires.

Well, I wouldn't install the mod, but for me it's fine where it is.
Same goes for the Divine Remix, but that's another story.
The important thing is, they can all be left out if you wish that, but including a rejected mod is harder, as you have to edit the "BiG World Install.bat" after the BWS.

I think the same can be said about all the discontinued mods. I know that I have links to both Kari and Wikaede in my list of NPCs. So you don't have to even look hard for those two.

Really? The version I found matched the length check and BWP seemed quite happy to install it.

No need to edit the bat for that at least, you can just tell the install bat that you're running in expert and it will install whatever modules are unpacked in your SOA directory.

The Exam's Vault deserves it's place in the Expert install.

It does not because it includes items from Final Fantasy, Lord of the Rings and who knows what else (see above), nevermind the fact that they are overpowered beyond imbalanced and the fact that it also potentially overwrites your random treasure table.

Market Prices can still be found on the net if you search hard enough

I don't think that's a good enough reason to include them in any of the BWP install options.

Sorry, but if we reject a mod, we throw it outside the Expert mode, you can't download it with BWS, nor can you install it with "BiG World Install.bat", without changing it.

Now, I was wondering as I saw this:

Install Component 120 [Change Avatar When Wearing Robes or Armor (Galactygon)]?

[I.]nstall

This component affects ALL objects, also those from other mods!
If you want to use that one component with Refinements, install it before Refinements in install
order. For more information see http://www.shsforums...showtopic=21698
Don?t install this component together with the mod "1ppv3: Thieves Galore" because this mod includes
with "Improved Improved Galactygon' s Avatar Switching" an improved version of this component.

And it's still potentially installed, why t7he freck?
Yes there are few other similar mods and if they are all installed, the Thieves Galore is installed last, which might make the script run OK, but why install multiple components that are advised not to be installed together. It even makes the mod component choices harder to manage in the BWS beta... :P

I think most right-thinking people would agree that Exnem's Vault should only be in expert

And I agree that any mods for which there is no longer a valid entry in the linklist should also be moved to expert so as not to confuse the noobs :D

Perhaps we should have a poll to see which modules get the chop? (eXpert-Factor)
