Unexplainable slowdown

I tried the usual, deleting all .sto files, getting the characters naked, resting, advancing time, changing party members, but NOTHING seems to change the lag-spikes.
each time when the pendulom reaches either the bottom or the peak ( you know, the clock ) it freezes for exactly one second. now that makes 2 freezes in what, 4 or 5 seconds? thats massive annoying.

I even emptied the whole .sav file to see if that would have any effect but nothing.

I suppose it's due to an overload of global variables, due to me playing a BiG world install.

Before i started this play, i gave the game 10GB cache.

I did the normal BG saga, DSoTSC, NtotSC, SoBH, Drizzt Saga and TotSC, and just finished with the first part of NEJ. now this is where the lagspikes started. in the last stage of the first part of NEJ.

no matter what I do, I can't get rid of this &§$&§ lagspikes.


PS: I tested a new game, there are no lagspikes. so it's definitely save-game based. If it's really the globals ( it can't be the items, even with complete blanko characters, it lags ) then how the hell would i fix this problem. i'd only get worse each time i do something

I'm trying defragmenation now as everything else did NOTHING.
It COULD be that it's the quest thing, but how do i abadon old quests? I'm not even sure what quests are still running. But why would this suddenly start in the Severed Hand ( last part of NEJ1 )

I do not know, but try this, CLUAConsole yourself to another area(for example with CLUAConsole:MoveToArea("ar8700")), then exit that area to another via the worldmap, this will remove all the creatures, area scripts etc that are supposed to be running while you are at those areas, it will eliminate a lot of problem causes that might cause the slowdown, and see if the problem is gone and report to us, so we can try to determine the cause more thoroughly.

I'm in irenicus dungeon, I don't think it's a wise idea to do that right now. Also, I tried cluaing me to another area but didnt leave for worldmap. I'll try that later. thanks.

v2: I now did everything in the list, including defrag and setting everything as low and disable as much as possible and it still is the same dumb stutter.
the change map, go to world map, didn't work. I imported the game to TOB and there was no suttering. i have NO IDEA whats causing this. probably really a quest that cheks for some ugly trigger all the time. god knows which one that is. how can i work out what is making me stutter and solve it?

I also encountered a fascinating bug... about every NPC is at least twice there, some thrice or in quadruple numbers if not more. this overload of scripts and characters might cause this. how THIS bug came to be I've no idea. I'd guess it has to do with this terrible azengard mod.

also, some weird scripts just keeps spawning ogres on my ass. i've no idea why.

V3: the stuttering ceased after the second of the Region of Terror cutscenes.

V4: now i am stuck at the exist to irenicus dungeon. stuck as in, some cutscene seems to start upon leaving but all my characters are simple frozen, standing there, forever, doing nothing. I'm so sick of this damn thing I'm gonna do a whole damn reinstall, without all the buggy as hell mods.
