Hello!

Not sure if this is the ideal place to ask for help with graphical problems, but here goes..

When deciding to replay BG2 and ToB - I've discovered that the items that are on the ground are surrounded by black chunks of darkness. This is the same with spells being cast, as well as floating text. Everything seems to have a black background... I've messed around with a lot of the video settings for BG2 but nothing seems to change.

Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be? I've tried searching for people with similar problems but I haven't found anything as yet..

Any help appreciated! <3

Do you have Vista? If you do, uninstall the game and reinstall it into non-Program Files sub-directory, and then you can actually make changes to the game files.

Deactivated account. The user today is known as The Imp.

I feel very silly. After playing around with my settings, my lovely big brother decided to check for me.. Apparently the core nvidia settings had antialiasing on. After switching it to "application controlled" all my problems went away.. ^^;

Glad you found a solution. An alternate way to deal with this is to run BGConfig, switch to 16 bit 2D color depth and check the "Software Transparent BLT" box. (You can do this in the game as well, actually.) This only affects BG2, whereas changing your graphics card's settings affects other things as well.
