Hi, I think someone sent this message couple of days ago...
_________________________________________________________________
Im not sure if this is an appropriate place to ask about this but i couldnt think of naywhere else offhand.
I have had BGII for about a ear now andive been playing it on and off. Recently i started downloading mods for it so ive been playing more. Anyway, my friend and i wanted to play mulitplayer so i tried to uninstall the mods and it screwed up. So i uninstalled BGII, but now when i put the CD in again, the autoplay opens and it gives me the option to play, not to install (clicking play doesnt work because there's nothing there...) and so i opened up the CD and clicked the 'setup' icon in the cd and it said 'would you like to remove this component blah blah" and if i click yes it just brings up this installation screen which immediately goes to 100% and closes. So i cant install baldurs gate 2! Can someone please help me?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, I'm facing the exact same problem. But I dunno how to play around with the registry thingy.
Can someone please show me exactly how I'm suppose to change the registry thingy? Do i just delete everything from the Interplay registry folder?
Thanks in advance.

The easiest way would just be to delete the entire BGII folder, and then search trough your registry for all "Baldur" entries and delete those folders/keys.I had the same problem. I don't remember how I fixed it.
Should work in most cases.

I did what you said but still when I open bg2 from the cd the normal menu appears... and it has no install so I guess I'll have to format my computer

Well since I have never actually tried this method with BGII (I usually do it to other programs and games I have problems with) I will have to assume that there are other files involved too, like maybe *.dll's in the Windows directory and such. The easiest way would just be to delete the entire BGII folder, and then search trough your registry for all "Baldur" entries and delete those folders/keys.
Should work in most cases.

I'm sure with a bit of searching you will find a more-detailed topic on how this is done. After all, formatting is quite a bit hassle just for one game...

I am unable to access the Interplay and Bioware site.
What else do I need to delete or change to install properly again ?
p.s.: When I go to the software directory of Windows and try to uninstall in addition from there, the same thing happens - it says it will uninstall, but BG2 stays listed there.

How To Manually Uninstall BG2
If you delete the folder where BG2 is installed without doing a proper installation, or have other problems getting the installer to run because it thinks the game is already installed, you may need the following procedure, which outlines how to manually uninstall BG2.
Here is the procedure to manually uninstall BG2: Throne of Bhaal. This will also uninstall BG2: Shadows of Amn. To start regedit, go to "Start", then "Run", type "regedit" (without the quotes), and hit enter. Be careful when using regedit, there is no "undo" option, and all changes are automatically saved.
1. Edit the system registry using the regedit utility. Remove the following keys under "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\":
BG2Main.exe
bg2ep202.exe
2. Remove the following keys under "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\
Uninstall\":

3. Go to your Program Files directory and find the hidden directory "InstallShield Installation Information" and delete the directories labeled:

4. Manually delete all the files and directories created by the previous installation attempts (this should return the system to its state before the original installation attempt) and try again to install from the CD.
