It was here indeed that Gond landed a shore, and though they have isolated themselves - by choice - for a long while from the rest of Fearun, they are said as of late to send people out to make notes about behavior, culture etc. (if I recall this all correctly) - however, there aren't many other species around. Some do state it, but you need to think on it:
Only Gnomes:
Lantan - Land of the Gnomes
More species, but few:
Forum asked question on Lantan
Just my two cents, and good luck with it
Still modding the Mod for the Wicked... It is a big project you know... And I got sidetracked (several times) a bit... sorry.
However, as we all know, Evil never really sleeps.
Sentences marking (my) life:
Winds of change... Endure them, and in Enduring grow Stronger
It takes a fool to look for logic in a man's heart
Never question the sanity of the insane
The Harmony of Life is Chaos
Living on Wings of Dreams
(1st march 2009) SHS women over me:
Kat: if there were more guys that looked like you out here, people's offspring wouldnt be so damn ugly
Noctalys: you are adorable
~~ I love it, and I am humbled! Yay! ~~

I am going with the description of Lantan as a primarily human nation - gnomes are a sizable minority, but it's still a human nation. They do trade with Amn and other Faerunian nations, but Gond's church keeps a close eye on what technologies are allowed to be exported - and firearms are one of Lantan's primary exports, all marked with the seal of Gond.

A question for any bird-savvy modders: there any birds with a reputation for being busy or industrious? Starting work on banters with Haer'Dalis, with whom Isobel does *not* get along, but I'd like a bird name that makes sense. I'm thinking calling her a blackbird if nothing else. As for why, here is her portrait, courtesy of Nix:
I would suggest a crow (highly intelligent, many species are known to use tools, and one (the New Caledonian crow) is known to actually make them out of man-made objects as well as those found in its natural environment (this is pretty much unique to it and humans). Many species of eagle build spectacular and elaborate nests. Haer'Dalis probably thinks her efforts are futile, based on his philosophy, and might compare her to a woodpecker (banging its head against a tree). I have the vague feeling there's a species I should remember but don't that's notable for spectacularly complex nestbuilding and gathering...
[EDIT]Ah, here we go. "Cuckoo finch" might be a particularly apt choice if Haer'Dalis doesn't get along with her.

"Tyranny is a quiet thing at first, a prim and proper lady pursing her lips and shaking her head disapprovingly, asking, well what were you doing (wearing that dress, walking home at that hour, expressing those inappropriate thoughts) anyway? It's subtle and insidious, disguised as reasonable precautions which become more and more oppressive over time, until our lives are defined by the things we must avoid. She's easy enough to agree with, after all, she's only trying to help -- and yet she's one of the most dangerous influences we face, because if she prevails, it puts the raping, robbing, axe-wielding madmen of the world in complete control. Eventually they'll barely need to wield a thing, all they'll have to do is leer menacingly and we fall all over ourselves trying to placate them." -godlizard

All work postponed until further notice due to my computer melting down last week. The repair shop says they should have it back in a couple of weeks, but Isobel's project is out of commission for now.
A Follower of Gond delayed by the failure of a machine?

However, a little extra about her as currently stalled:
- Isobel only has three fingers on her right hand, courtesy of an experiment several years ago that went a little too right when she wasn't expecting it. She acknowledges to the NPC who brings it up that she could use magic to regrow the fingers, but has deliberately chosen not to.
- She has a family back in Lantan - her parents, two older sisters, and a little brother. She only mentions them in passing, but when I get around to writing player-initiated dialogues, they'll be able to ask her about her family.
- Isobel is fluent in a few foreign (to her) languages, including most obviously Common, but it comes up in passing with Jan that she can speak Gnome like a native, and with reason - it's a common and widely used language in Lantan, more so than Common. I'm considering having it come up in the Underdark with the svirfneblin as well.
- I've decided to abandon the idea of giving Isobel a brief Romantic Encounters-style interlude unless strong interest in such an interlude is expressed. Isobel is not interested in starting a long-term romantic relationship at this time, but I'm thinking that she might change her mind by ToB and give her a brief, abbreviated romance in ToB only to establish switching an existing friendship to a romantic relationship. In any event, it would only be open to female humans, elves, half-elves, possibly half-orcs with a charisma requirement (only 10 or 12, probably), and possibly gnomes with a charisma requirement.

OT: He was also the Uwe Boll of the BG community with his poor AI scripts and an ego the size of the Alantic Ocean. He used to hold a Yahoo group on BG AI scripting, but kicked out some actually good modders, like our very own SConrad. In a previous thread (which can no longer be replied to) you asked about Mprilla. Very simply, he went back to Europe. He was from Germany and was studying at the U of Pennsylvania. His actual name was Mike Prillaman.
If you really want to know more about him, go ask Solaufein, Xyx, igi, SConrad, the_bigg, or someone else who can go into more detail about him, since I'm relativly new here compared to some of the members.
