Do you encounter Rhialto in BG1 or in BG2? Which level your party has? Some players say that Rhialto the Fabulous from the Mod "Wild Mage Additions" (First component, who gives you a spell book für Wild Mages etc.) should turn himself into a sqirrel after some time, due to a spell he casts (not due to the Wild Magic things he summons). In my case 8and the case of some other players) he does not cast this spell (and kills me every time...).

But also have a look here (the other players are Marvin and Arren):

Just posted my problem here since I think that it is probably caused by Big Picture.

Thanks for the link. I've read the posts, but at the moment it looks like that you are the only one who has this problem. Please try Marvins last suggestion and let us know, what the result is.I am Level 1 and I encounter him in Baldurs Gate (more or less directly after Gorion's death; Gorion's Rest, Crossroad oder Freindly Arm, depending where I take my first rest... So everything is o.k. except that he does not cast his spell...).

Normally with level 1 chars it is the 4th spell which turns Rhialto in a squirrel. Can you check how many spells he casts? More then four?
That's fine, so if we have the result, we know if it is caused by BP or not.Just posted my problem here since I think that it is probably caused by Big Picture.

All right, I'll give an answer at Kerzenburg.Have a look on my guesses at the German forum. Resouce Fixer (?) instead of Big Picture.

The problem is: Rhialto casts only two spells and no more after that. Something blocks that. So the fourth spell is never cast which Rhialto turns into a squirrel.
Guest_Fennek, could you pack and upload the "BiG World Debug.txt", the "Setup-Res_fixer.DEBUG" and the backup-files which you used from the BP backup-folder and the "Resource Fixer" backup-folder?
By the way, we have included Miloch's "Resource Fixer" in the BiG World Fixpack and use it before each BP installation.

I added to the cre files the place where they came from. The capital letters (WM_RHIA) come from the resource fixer, I did not change that.

Thanks for the files and welcome as a registered user.O.k. Leomar, here ist the stuff to fix the Resource-Fixer problem:
I added to the cre files the place where they came from. The capital letters (WM_RHIA) come from the resource fixer, I did not change that.
Please, next time pack the DEBUG file before you upload it, because it is much much smaller then (like 500 KB).
We'll check the files. Thanks.

My lvl 1 kensai managed to kill him with a lot of luck and a slew of potions. If irc, he killed the rest of my party and then took me straight to lvl 4 when he went down. (This is with exp reduced, I don't recall by how much but I think at least 50%)

@Leomar: Fixed? Or did you at least found the problem? In the worst case there might be some more problems with mages (I have 313 files in the backup of the resource fixer...)

No. White Agnus want to look at it, but like you know, White Agnus had an accident and needs another week to be back again. So we must wait for his return.@Leomar: Fixed? Or did you at least found the problem?

Rhialto was a nice surprise for me the first time I rested. I got worked over pretty well. I started resting in town or in caves then when I hit lvl 3 I was able to take him out. A cleric casting command and hold person helped out.

This is all best done at the source really, but Leomar's BWP voodoo device can probably handle it too, with a little applied elfin magic.

My offhand guess w/o delving into it (I'm still caught in the install wheels, after 2 days, but with a revised BP inc Ascension), is that the guy just needs a conditional spawn-in check like the old "ENDOFBG1" global we used to use, or whatever its modern equivalent is. I'd add a check for the areas in Irenicus' dungeon as well, if they aren't already yhtere, cause that could be an unwelcome place of meeting, as well.

Ok, now that I'm awake and actually read the problem (I assumed after seeing this goon, he wasn't meant for BG1), I took a look at his files after a mega install. I saw BPWTSIGT in one of his slots, I became suspect too. But when I opened this script, and held it up next to the one in the BP compiler---it's not my script at all. Whatever mod is replacing my scripting in the install (scsii, is it?) --it's their script, and no longer anything that even remotely resembles the BP AI system.

One doesn't need weidu to do side by side file comparisons, of the sort I did. In fact, I propose that weidu could not solve this problem by itself. Boring History Lesson for the Uninitiated Once upon a time, there was this great massive fusion of a mod, called Big Picture, that combined three of the big mods into a huge game that played smoother than any of the mods singly....and it wasn't even touched by weidu. In fact, it's never run the same way since weidu got ahold of it. But that's because it's author is an old-school dinosaur that never did get entirely sold on weidu.
Weidu is a great tool these days, but it was not part of the birth of IE modding. Its early versions were notorious file overwriters. Just saying, there's always more than one way to arrive at the final square. And sometimes, the other ways are the better.
What I'm don't think that weidu would tell you, is this: The scripts of Rhiallto were changed by BP, definitely. His default script, to be precise. It was changed from WTASIGHT to BPWTSIGT. Pretty sure weidu could tell you that much, w/ its change log function. But then, (and here's the clincher) another mod came along, got inside of BPWTSIGT and changed its code to something that does not even remotely resemble the original script that was parsed in BP. Now, again I would bet that you can run a weidu change log check on BPWTSIGT, to find out exactly what changed it. But the change to Rhialto's files would not show up in the second mod, in your change-log check. After all, it's a change to the script itself, not to Rhilato's files.
I don't see weidu connecting the dots on this one, or even making the logical deduction that points you in the correct direction. It would leave you with the conclusion the BP is the sole source of mischief in this chain of events, when it's actually entirely innocent of the charges. Which leads me back to a point I made years ago, when weidu stared getting smarter: sometimes the old-school 'monkey wrench' approach is still the better and more thorough means of problem solving.

Hi all, love your work,
When I started my character a Wild Mage ( didnt know about the Rhialto mod then ) I had the same problem with him; he never turns into a squirrel. This forum is where I found out about it. He killed my party every time we met but after 20 or so reloads , I finally got him ( with the help of half a dozen Amnish soldiers ).
My other point is that when I read some more I found that my Wild Mage was supposed to have the option to turn into a spellshaper after I was punished enough - this never happens. Also there is supposed to be a spell in the book that could have the same effect ( allowing me to change to a spellshaper - nothing there, not even in shadowkeeper. ).
I know nothing about IE modding, but could there be more broken here than the squirrel transformation. ?
Such a huge pity - I have been so looking forward to playing as a spellshaper. I love the roleplaying opportunities there.
Sadly I have no wiedu or error logs to show you as I became so frustrated I decided to go through the pain of another complete reinstall to see if that fixes the problem. I will repost if it helps or if I learn anything.
Thanks again, fantastic work with everything. I played this game when it first came out and every iteration since.
