The Name says it all, I'm looking for portraits that look like the vanilla portraits.
I guess I like mods to blend into the game.

I have searched quite a few sites but only found about three that could pass off as the originals.

Some of the best portraits, I've found here at SHS:
Bardess's awesome picture EDIT: Has since changed, I was referring to the dark-haired portait with red armor one)

And the other portraits that are edited + spliced from other ones like
Vicen's here,

Is there anyone who is known for this style? Are there any individual examples?

Anything would be great.

p.s. I'd just like to say that my ability to reply to anything is and was impaired due to the lightning that fired my internet connection a few months ago, at the moment I'm using a friend 'net. Cable still isn't fixed let alone getting a new modem.

The Red Knight - A Quest and NPC mod, with emphasis on the first.
Sshamath - An Item Merchant mod using all the Ideas un-usable by the mod above.
MODS IN PLANNING
A Wizards Tomb - Our excuse to explore the games limitations . . . oh, and a quest!

Well there has been several that have done so. Plasmocat's was one of the best... small gallery. Link to the mod. And the other G3's albums are some what good too.

Of course I like the CA's npc pictures a lot too... But the download is a bit heavy for this purpose only, but...

Deactivated account. The user today is known as The Imp.

Thanks Jarno
They're good but . . . I don't know, I guess I'm being picky. The colors are off, the skin is too flatly colored and light, they look painted and there is no variation in their skin. they're just not what I meant by my post

The the original portraits tell you what to expect from the characters, look at Edwin's for example. They add something to a game filled with small details.

My first example shows off what I wanted well (Bardess). So does CA's Althon (The best one of CA's I think) while Madisil Blodgett for example also from CA shows the painted color-wierdness.

They do look good but they're not really what I meant.

Jarno, I kindly ask you do not advertise how to steal CA's pictures. Most of CA's art is original. Not photo shopped pictures. Slyde it is ok if you use CA's art for your own personal game but I do not condone it to be used or chopped up for a mod. I hope you can respect how long it took the artist to do the line art and paint the pictures for Classic Adventures.

I'd say the ones Yasu did for Arkalian back in the day do a pretty good job of blending with Bioware's style (though they're perhaps a little closer to BG1 than 2). Unfortunately she apparently fell off the face of the earth shortly afterward. I think the public versions disappeared with Sol Ek Sa; I could send . Plus, with the specific characters they apply to, while I couldn't call it "stealing" with a straight face, I similarly wouldn't be comfortable with them being borrowed for a mod.

Ilmatar's art is good but in my view most of what I've seen clashes with the BG1/2 style enough to be fairly awkward above the dialogue-portrait size; Wonnimchunha is an awesome artist all around. I don't know how active either of them is these days, though.

"Tyranny is a quiet thing at first, a prim and proper lady pursing her lips and shaking her head disapprovingly, asking, well what were you doing (wearing that dress, walking home at that hour, expressing those inappropriate thoughts) anyway? It's subtle and insidious, disguised as reasonable precautions which become more and more oppressive over time, until our lives are defined by the things we must avoid. She's easy enough to agree with, after all, she's only trying to help -- and yet she's one of the most dangerous influences we face, because if she prevails, it puts the raping, robbing, axe-wielding madmen of the world in complete control. Eventually they'll barely need to wield a thing, all they'll have to do is leer menacingly and we fall all over ourselves trying to placate them." -godlizard

I would add some of Amaurea's portraits to that list too. Ilmatar's are a bit smoother than the game's - this seems to be how most people do their portraits though. Wonnimchunha's are a bit more detailed in that respect but still smoother than the game's. Someone should really get the source images and package all those into a mod because AFAIK none of them are actively doing portraits anymore.

Ah, well that's good, though there hadn't been activity for over a year, but that shouldn't stop the packaging of these things. You might as well throw Ilmatar's and Amaurea's (and mine for all I care) into the same mod and just give credit to all the artists. Then have a separate component for each NPC with a) b) c) d) choices and of course, no change. That's how I'd package it anyway. And that's because folks often want to pick portrait a) for so-and-so, the Bioware portrait for someone else and yet another artist's portrait for another NPC. Easier than downloading and trying to mix and match from a bunch of different mods anyway.

Woah, I'm Sorry but I think theres been a mis-understanding leahnkain

I was looking for both portraits for my personal use and potentially asking some people to do some for the mod that I was doing (if I ever get it working properly) i.e. "Is there anyone who is known for this style? Are there any individual examples?"

Jarno probably (mostly correctly) assume I meant for personal use. I don't want anyone getting in trouble for my mis-wording

As for "I hope you can respect how long it took the artist to do the line art and paint the pictures for Classic Adventures." I'm sure that both Jarno and I know that the art is very well done and unique, and that neither he nor I would attempt to take it!

I'm afraid the decision's already been made on this one--if there were to be mods with Ilmatar or Amaurea's mods (which were planned at one point, but due to their business were unable to come to fruition) then they would have to be separate mods. wonnimchunha and I are in semi-regular contact, so don't think she's disappeared entirely--she's just very busy.

All the portraits in wonnimchunha's mod are separately installable, and it's compatible with every platform. :)

Some of these portraits (including Vicen's) are part of the celebrity portrait series found in the link. There are many more like them if you're willing to search through the entire site (for eg - Vicen's can be found among the mage portraits)

Of course, they are for personal use only because the author's been inactive for a while, a long while. But I've seen some mods use their portraits though, probably with permission.
