So, some of the mods available for download from the forgotten wars place have Mac OS X downloads available. I'm assuming that these are WeiDu mods, which means that there's some way to use WeiDu mods on a Mac. But the WeiDu page doesn't mention anything like this. Am I completely off-base here, or is this possible? If so, how?

I guess  I have a similar question, whether i could use weidu under linux(Mandrake 9.2beta2), maybe compiling it from source. Is that possible?

There are source-folders in the weidu-package, so i guess i can build a binary from these sources.

Maybe i can start weidu directly from bash, since i'm going to play all those IE-Games under Linux using Wine. Bg2 will work, IWD2 definitely works, only installing those is currently not working. Some IE-Editing-tools also work quite good, for example DLTCEP. Others may, but i will probably have to recompile them either.

As to using Weidu mods on the mac, one could mosey over to the IRE website and download the Weidu for mac binary contained there.

As for compiling for linux, there should be no problems, the makefile contains the minor details that you need to edit to get it up and running. You will need the ocaml 3.06 compilers which should be easy enough to find. What I am unsure of is if the unix file libraries under linux and Mac OS X will accept a backwards slash(\) as a path seperator as I figure the windows unix file libraries do. Never ever did get to testing that...oh well.

Presumably this means that the bit in http://weidu.org/main.html#install where it says

5. Have a Mac? Check out these instructions.

... is hard to notice.

Do you have any suggestions for how I could make it more obvious?

<sarcasm>You could try making the link to the readme in 72 pt

Most of my questions have been answered by the readme. The few exceptions were answered by someone telling me "You know, you should read this part in the readme."</sarcasm>

EDIT: Doh! There I go opening my big mouth again. I guess that wasn't in the weidu readme. Oh, well - if you were really looking for a way to make it more obvious, you could put a link on the homepage right under the one for installation.
