Well, I solved the lag problem in the Umar Temple Ruins. Now I have a much bigger problem, seemingly unsolvable. When I go to the druid grove the game CTDs automatically before even the screen appears.

Now I have a much bigger problem, seemingly unsolvable. When I go to the druid grove the game CTDs automatically before even the screen appears.

Any knowledge at which loading phase? Cause of this'es:

as to which file is the cause, yuo can tell by how far thru the loading process you get. if immediate black screen of death: corrupted creature listed in the .are file; if it makes it approx 1/3 thru loading screen: corrupted .are file; if almost the whole way: something corrupted aded via the .bcs file; if the whole way, area brielfy shows then CTD: animation conflict.

I simply followed 1 of the instructions in the megamod and reduced the performance to average in yhe BGConfig settings.

Most interesting. I mentioned before trying to go to the Forest of Tethyr and getting a CTD 1 second or so after the screen showed up, but no one was able to offer a clue. Still, I have no idea as to how to fix an animation conflict.

AS to the current issue, as I vaguely recall,the CTD happened after the loading screen had gone almost the whole way. I read a 2004 thread which mentioned the same problem and suggested removing the 2 druid grove files from in the override folder, the area-code file and the .are file in that same folder. I suppose that would work since I have no idea how to check what the specific error is.

Uh, I think these two threads(1 and 2) are describing the problem you are having with Druid's Grove. If they are the solution is to recover the TDR8B.CRE from one of your backup folders. The exact back up folder probably depends on you install buit it looks like it will be in either SCS2, com_encounters, or BP.

Dunno about the Forest of Tethyr crash. I've spend a while looking for a solution but there doesn't seem to be any clear solution(or cause) that I can find. Out of curiosity, can you CLUA yourself into the Forest of Tethyr? It seems that sometimes the problem is related to travelling there via Worldmap. You might try this patch, but I'm pretty sure it won't fix it(just throwing it out there as a possibility).

It might be helpful if Strontium Dog would post/edit his current WeiDU.log into the first post...

Yeah, the Forest of Tethyr should have a fix that's today always installed in BWS, now it might be a different issue, but still it might be good to install if it's not already, and it's not according to this.

I see. I'll check those threads. I should add that my loading screen, now I've rechecked, only goes up to a third of the way(though I removed the ar1900.bcs from the override ,at the time, via apreviously suggested experiment).

I did try CLUAing myself to that area as that has worked for other areas in the past, but it didn't work this time. At any rate, I'm most grateful for the suggestions as while I can tolerate minor quests basically becoming broken(like the stone of askavar mod I installed), having major quest areas from the original game completely wrecked is no fun and forces me to reinstall.

Possible future problem:- I haven't checked(my game PC is at home) but I should also mention that I removed 2 ar1900.bcs files from the bgIISOA overend file, because I thought it was more or less the same as the override folder. If I return those 2 files and the other ar1900.bcs file I took from the override folder back into their respective folders, will everything be OK? Or would I have to put all 3 back into the override folder for everything to go back to normal(once I've naturally dealt with that .cre file as well, of course)? I presumably sound terribly technologically-illiterate but I'm terrified of ruining this mega-install in any way as I took so long to create the perfect modded game.

Well, I did what was suggested above and it worked. Trouble is that now my party is in the Druid Grove and I'm experiencing terrible lag so my party are too slowed down to fight. This can't be due to computer performance as that kind of lag is never that severe, in my experience. I'll try the usual tricks from the mgamod faq but I'm sure they won't work.

I solved the lag in druid grove by turning down the ambient sounds which I had foolishly left at max for some odd reason. Incidentally, Cernd appeared in the druid grove but went red but didn't move to attack or anything, just stood there. Also there was no dialogue with the old woman/ihtafeer so I couldn't reveal her, I could only kill her to get the rakshasa head, but she didn't turn into a rakshasa and fight , just died an old woman.True seeing didn't work to reveal her true shape.

I mentioned a while back about a bug in which non-party characters would refer to the male bhaalspawn as female while Viconia would treat me as a male in her romance. Is there any way to change this? I think I mentioned already that I'd been given a wild-surge-derived sex-change and that i'd removed it from the affects column of shadowkeeper. I'm wondering now if that was the bright thing to do - perhaps I should have changed the sexchange to 1 instead of deleting it.

I seem to be having a friendly bug happening mnore often:- that is, my conjuration spells which summon 1 monster, such as potlergeist or elemental prince summoning,are summoning two monsters instead of the one. While this is pleasant, I don't know why this is so.

I also came across a CTD when clicking on a german dialogue about ajantis in my english-language BWP game. i now realise that an ajantis mod I installed with the BWP was in fact german, not english. This may also have something to do with the fact that every time I get caught by bandits between areas, I nearly always get the german-language version of the standard warning.

I'd thought that an wevil-plot-alternative was offered by the quest pack for the dryad/acorns quest but it didn't come up or maybe I missed it.

Couple of things:- a bug appeared in which Valygar Corthala's corpse didn't appear after I killed him. I had to insert it into the game via shadowkeeper. Also, there was a bug which hasn't occurred very recently where casters higher than 15th level still got animate dead with all those ordinary skeletons instead of the skeleton warrior.

`1 big question:- I'm having absurd difficulty in dealing with part of the thiev'es quest stronghiold, the 1 where your party is lured to waukeen's promenade and then attacked. What I get is several things called "shadows" who don't look anything like a shadow - some just look like men or women, 3 of the shadows look like huge green golems(and are very difficult to defeat). So far, my party(all triple-classed and at c.16th level re mages, and higher for other classes, have always had 1 or more characters dying forcing me to reload(I don't agree with resurrection as I view it as a cop-out). Any ideas on how to deal with this combat without cheating.

OK, I have a serious gamebreaking-problem. I'm at the point of the Viconia Romance where she says that she's about to be attacked by servants of Llolth(presumably yochlols) This dialogue only occurs as we rest; and each time we rest I get a black screen and a CTD. How can I get out of this CTD? The only thing I can think of , right now, is to set the ViconiaRomanceActive value to 0, but that will only slow things down. How can I fix these things permanently?

OK, I tried setting the ViconiaRomance values to 0, but it didn't work. Instead of the screen simply fading to all-black and the game lying broken so I have to abort, I simply had a standard CTD. I've tried reloading earlier saves but all my more recetn saves also lead to a CTD. I experienced this CTD bug early on in the game(well in NEJ2, but reloading an earlier save and doing a particular megaquest all over again solved the problem. Now, I'm absolutely screwed unless someone here has a solution to the problem. In case no one knows how to fix this issue, can anyone give me some idea of how CTDs could occur from resting but not anything else.

Hmm, if I can't get this fixed, I'll have to reinstall all over again. I took a whole month in order to get my perfect installation the last time.

What I think it is trying to do is start a 'movie'. Something about the movie is causing the CtD. Most likely an animation is bad/missing. Have you tried resting at an inn (most movies won't play at an inn)?



I've tried resting at an inn and resting outside in the Graveyard, nothing works. It must be something to do with Viconia and her romance. That is, I justv tried kicking out my entire party and resting at the inn with just the bhaalspawn and drizz't do'urden and resting worked fine without incident.

Is there a movie that appears in the Viconia Romance? It's just that previous attempts to rest got Viconia to start talking about how Llolth was coming to get her sooner or later. If such a movie exists, could someone please give me an undamaged version of that movie so that I can replace my original flawed one? Oh no, the Viconia Romance is part of the original game so is probably encrypted, right?


Well, as it stands, I have only 2 other recourses available:- either delete all mention of viconia romance from the gklobal values column(eg:- viconiarom,aceactive/viocniamatch etc.) and try the romance from that point or simply kick Viconia permanently out of my party, which would be a real shame. or 3) set the Viconiaromance to the next dialogue after the one that causes the CTD.

Any suggestions most welcome.

How do I do that?

I did try kicking out Viconia from the party but the rest-bug happened anyway, so I'm not even sure what could be the cause, now. The rest-bug only ceased to occur when I had only Drizz't and the Bhaalspawn in the party left. I think, given all these issues, and the fact that this is a unique bug that no one else seems to have that I may have to cancel and start all over again. If you could tell me the relevant code number to set viconiaromanceactive to etc. that would be great - I suppose that would be 2? It's just that one of the 3 viconiaromance-related globals is set at a ridiculously high number(29389 or whatever)
