I read that the TotSC-patch deleted some files of BG1 and this could cause problems.

I saw this files to English and German version and I thought upload this files to Spanish version but I don't see this files in the clean installation (without patch of course).

You find the files in the override folder and not in the data folder. The ToSC Patch removes these files in the override folder and you need to copy them again from the CD/DVD into the override folder. We have packed these files as "BG1 Missing Files" for our automated installation, so you don't bother about such files. At the moment we have the "BG1 Missing Files" in English and in German.

Thanks to answer Leomar.

I don't know why I've looked in the data folder, I would be drunk maybe. Anyway I didn't found these files in the override folder. I'm waiting to install another edition, could be a problem of my DVD edition.

See you later.

Normally you can find these files in the addon ToSC override folder on the CD/DVD. But is your BG version with the needed BioWare patch already patched, so you don't have these files on your CD/DVD, because the patch has deleted them before.

I have started installing the BIG World v6.0, and I'm at step 1(Clean Install) 8.(Missing Files). I have installed a 3 CD version of BG1 and TotSC, and the installed version says 1.3.5512. Can You tell me what do I do about the missing files (do I need to install them or no), and can You please give me the link for them (if I do need), because I searched for them on forum but couldn't find them.
Thnx.

After installing TotSC and the 1.3.5512-patch, copy the "missing files" to override folder (in BG1).

Jarno, my versions are:

BG1 ---> 1.1.4315

TotSC ---> 1.3.5508

and I haven't this files in a installation without patch.

I have looked for the above mentioned files in my BG1 installation Override folder, and I didn't find them there. Does that mean I have to install them?
Also, I searched for them on my BG1 and TotSC installation CDs, but they aren't there.
Where can I find them, are they somwhere on the forum and where?

Does "Namárië" mean "Thank You" in Elvish?

Thanx for the answers.

If you use the BiG World Setup and you install with it a German or English installation, so the BWS do this automatically for you. You don't need to search and download the files manually in this case. In other languages we don't have these files.

Sorry but they are actually there, they are just in a .bif package, to extract/export them, you need to use the Near Infinity or some other tool to export them...

I don't quite get it - if these files are removed by the official patch, probably it's because these files are useless, and the game runs stable without them. If so, what is the reason for putting them back?

P.S. I haven't follow modding scene for a few years so would like to apologise if this is common knowledge by now :)

slightly off topic but near enough to it...

Are the missing files that are being discussed caused by the installation of ToTSC onto BG?
I have a reason for asking so bear with me please...

I have the DVD version plus a burned copy of the original 5cd+1
I can install the BG portion just fine with both DVD and 5cd. The issues is with adding ToTSC.
The 5cd+1 on my old Windows 98 pc gives me an override folder that no longer includes any files from BG just new files from ToTSC. (Most people I've spoke with assume this is the 'normal' setup.)
I can take the DVD and the 5cd+1 and install them to my Windows XP and in both cases I get an override folder that merges my BG files and the new ToTSC files.

Some people have told me that my unmodded game will be screwed up if I play with the override that has been merged because ToTSC is expecting to find certain files in the bifs and not in the override folder. There are some ToTSC files that shipped in the BG override and apparently according to what I've been told they are not correct.

If this is indeed what you are talking about, I would love to get a list of the exact files which are missing from an override folder overwritten by the ToTSC installation. That would be much simpler than me going through the copies of my two overrides and determining which file from which one is correct. I've not played ToTSC before and wouldn't really know which file is correct. But I do need to determine that if I'm going to have any hope of completing the BG Fixpack.

We really don't know if this is intended what the patch does, but we're seen it during the BGT installation, that these missing files are needed for BGT. That happens with our German BG/ToSC installation. So we tried to find out, why we have not such files in our BG override folder. It was only luck, that I've seen after the official BG1-ToSC patch, that something is different and checked it again. So I see, that ToSC installs the files and they were put in the override folder correctly. After I installed the official patch, the files are gone/deleted. I restored the files and made a BGT installation with it. Then BGT installs fine without warnings and it implemented the files in BG2.

At first we thought, that this happens only with the German BG version, but then other people reported, that the files are missing, too. At this time with an English BG version and now with the Spanish, too.

Good that you asked the question, perhaps we can bring more light in this case, if it was intended or not.

Here again the files, which were deleted with the latest official BG1-ToSC patch:

You can find all these files on the ToSC CD in the override folder.

[EDIT]

This said Amodeus about the missing files:

No... as I explained, the game will be missing audio if you install without these files. I know this because I tried it :-P and as Leomar explained, the German version has the same issue. Baldur's Gate 1 vanilla does not appear to need these files, but if you are trying to run BGT, it does.

And we discussed about the "BG1 Missing Files" the first time here.

Greetings Leomar
