How would I go about making my BGT install completely portable?
I want to be able to install it to a portable drive and play it wherever I go without having registry issues.

Thanks =]

If you export the necessary registry keys, and make sure that the baldur.ini paths to the files are correct, it should all be OK.

I wouldn't bother with the registry settings. Just copy the folder, modify the baldur.ini as mentioned, and use bgmain.exe to start the game.

You'll probably need the ToB CD or an image of it, as well.

k, got it working without the registry settings and stuff but it still asks for the CD to run [at first I thought it didnt but when I opened the CD drive I realized I was wrong xD]. Is there some way to fix this? I also tried finding a no-cd patch but there seems to be none for the version i'm using [tob 2.5.26461], i also thought this might mess up some of the mods.

Any help?

I use an image of the CD loaded in Daemon Tools. You probably won't find much support for no-cd cracks here.

Sorry, guys, that's going into illegal territory--I'll have to edit or remove any posts containing further discussion concerning CD imaging and such. This is for SHS' protection, so please keep this in mind when posting.

I'm not sure what the current legal status of copying CDs you own onto your own computer is in various countries, but would it be permissible to continue this discussion via PM?

We're not going to get into a debate about whether it's illegal or not--there's a blanket rule at SHS that says that discussion about no-cd cracks/game disc imaging are not permitted. Like K'aeloree said, this is for our own protection. A lot of people take their modding rights for granted and don't realize that Bioware (or any other game developer/distributor with copyrights of games we mod) can shut us down in a heartbeat if they decide they don't like us. They let us do it because modding actually is beneficial for them--they're selling games because of it--but this can change rapidly if we become a source of pirated versions of their games.

In this case, it's not so much about whether it's illegal for you to copying your own CDs, but the fact that such information can make it possible for other people to share or obtain illegal copies of the game.

If you want to keep discussing it, you better find an avenue away where we're not at risk, such as emails. Better safe than sorry.
