"I kept doing this to install one mod..."
Download or install? There is a difference

Ok thanks I'll try that as soon as I get home.
I had that too one time, but restarting the PC solved it for me. So give it another try.
Also you donīt need to use the install.bat IF you have to dl manually, you can still use BWS. Just put the downloaded mods in the BiG World Downloads folder. It should give you "Mod xyz already downloaded" every time and move on to extraction.

I need some help, setup keeps freezing in the download process, I will endtask and start setup again and it will resume fine but then it'll freeze again on the next download. I kept doing this to install one mod after another but now it's just frozen on one download......Pls help I really wanna play lol.
Sorry for the multiple posts but it looks like alot of mods arent getting installed due to errors -.- and I have to keep watching the install process because it keeps asking me to press enter.
Hmm.. I wonder why?
If the downloader isn't working... manually download them >.<
Since you end-task often, I'm not surprised you had some corrupted files.
BWS uses Big World Install.bat, the .bat file is the core part of BWP... not BWS.
There are some people who don't even use BWS but just use the .bat file (me for instance).
Again... grab the mods you want from here,
http://www.baldurs-gate.eu/bwpmods.php
Don't be a moron and grab everything, read the BWP pdf and use google translator to read some of the mod reviews (especially for the major mods like CtB, SoS, TDD .etc) on that page. For example, some users dont read it thoroughly and forget to download this... only to find their installation ruined
Make sure you unzip.
Also make sure that any .exe files are in the form of Setup-Name.exe. If not, this is probably just an extractor .exe. Run it and place it into a random folder (not your baldur's gate directory)

And that´s exactly why he should use BWS. Does this stuff automatically. Impossible to screw up. The bug he experienced was insignificant, as I explained. Also unzips automatically which is such a pain in the ****.
If you get some weird pleasure out of extracting manually that´s fine for you I guess.
But I have to wonder, what are you doing in the BWS thread telling people how to install without BWS instead of helping them solve their BWS related problems?
You had it right till the part where you told him that he should dl manually if the program fails to do it but everything after that was over complicating.

Found a quote:
"Not really... make so darn sure that ... that you install the game into a directory not in Program Files folder if you have Windows Vista, 7 or the Service Pack 3 XP Windows..."
Just install in D:\Games\BGII - SoA for example.
Also you don´t have to uninstall everything when something goes wrong in the future. Just make a backup of the clean, patched, and "activated"(made a save in BGII) installation with BWS. Something goes wrong, restore backup.
And yes it´s pretty rough going for you it seems However, slowly but steady we should reach a point where not much can go wrong anymore

If you give a man a fish you feed him for a day... (you know the rest).
BWS acts as a middle-man between the user and the Install.bat. While having middle-men can be nice, if the user is having problems with middle man, why not go to the source (the install .bat). Sure, it is "convenient," but when you are having problems with it, the convenience goes away.
Over-complicated? Using a file-extractor (7-zip,winrar, etc.) is complicated? Being able to use these tools is useful for everyone who uses a PC. The explorer extension (right click functions) makes the issue especially easy. If anything, manual extraction will encourage the user to read READMEs... which is very important.
Telling him to read mod reviews and to KNOW what he is installing and to READ the .pdf is not complicated. It will further tell him what exactly he is adding to the game and tell him what the hell is putting on his computer... along with potential incompatibilities. You just made a thread here, http://www.shsforums...nd-longer-road/, asking about compatibilities between BP's ascension and LR. I'm not sure why you are things are too "complicated."
If people read the .pdf
They would find this on page 31.Type in the full path to Baldur's Gate. This is usually: C:\Program Files\Black Isle\Baldur‘s Gate“.
Press enter.
Type in your Baldur's Gate directory. Read the readme!
EDIT: I'm not saying you shouldn't use BWS, I'm saying that if you have problems... report it, and use an alternative method.
