You cannot (or at least should not be able to) select components without its mods - if you install manually or with the BWS. So of course you need the mod if you want one of its components.
As said, the BWS will check the available file-size and name and compares them with the local file (if available). So if you got the same file, the download will be skipped. You can also select to skip the download if you have all mods in place. It will still check for missing downloads, but you can download those or select to use a specific file.
@Februarius:
As max said, the BWS beta was used. See the thread on the first page of this subforum.
After the install ended, you already saw the answer to you question.
So if you want to delete them, do this. Be aware that you cannot change the install after that so easily and debugging might be affected (it shouldn't, but I recall one or two people with some problems). With the BiG World Clean-Up.bat you can delete unnecessary files after installation.

I chose the expert mode, downloaded all the mods, extracted them all, everything went great. Then the installation began, I chose all the things I wanted and got a messege "See you in several hours!".
After a while it said it needed to restart to continue. So I allowed him, but once the computer came back up, the installation didn't continue! I tryed restarting it, but it doesn't work, not can I play the games now...
Any idea's what's causing this?
Thanx for the help!

The mod Infinity Animations needs a certain character that is known in the setting "Latin1" (Western Europe). Your PC is not using that to display characters in DOS/most older applications.
So if you change that setting, some of your applications will likely not be able to display Japanese, Chinese, Russian, ... characters correctly.
If you still want the mod, delete BG2folder\infinityanimations and unpack as follows:
infinityanimations-b5.rar
>> BG2folder
IA_BG2_Restores.rar
>> BG2folder\infinityanimations\restore
IA_Base_Anims.rar
IA_IWD_Svirfneblin.rar
Belhifet_and_Marilith.zip
Shadows_harpy_frostgiant.zip
IA_NWN_01_Modron.rar
IA_IWD.rar
IA_Fiends_Genies.rar
IA_PST_Abishai.rar
IA_Wh_Dr_Wyv_LoP.rar
NWN_Misc_I.rar
Moinesse_edits_IAised.rar
IA_PST_paletted.rar
>> BG2folder\infinityanimations\content
Do not unpack the content/restore-files with the saved path. In the end there have to be a few thousand files in the content-folder without any subdirectories.
Then open the BiG World Install.bat. Delete all lines after the last SET-line at the beginning of the file until the mod gets install.
In 9.5.2, its every line between line 87 and 3029, so that part would look like this:
SET INST="%BWIP%\Install.bat" Call %INST% infinityanimations "0 25 50 100 150 210 260 400 410 450 490 500 550 600 650 710 7000 9000" %.% %.% %.%26. CLOSER INSTALLATION | %M% %.% %.%
If you don't want the mod, also remove the "Call ..."-line for infinityanimations.
Save the file (maybe using a new name) and run it to install the rest of your mods.

Thanx for the reply! Again!
I hope I'll be able to follow the steps... I'm a bit of a computer dummy...
If I add the install.bat file to the startup programs manualy, will it then start automatically and solve this problem for me without going through all the steps?

You change HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Nls\CodePage, key ACP to 1252 somehow.
(Either by changing the systems settings or running the InfinityAnimations Installer. Then you reboot.
After that you delete InfinityAnimations-folder, extract the mod again, edit the BiG World Install.bat and run the edited script. There's no need for some startup-entries.

Uhm, why would you want to do that?

I'm confused...
First of all, when installing I told the installer NOT to install any non english mods... So I can't really understand what's going on with all the latin letters being needed...
Second - I thought you said in the very first post that you reffered me to that this while mess is happening because the install.bat file doesn't put itself in the start up programs and that's why it's not starting again after the reboot... So wouldn't placing that file in the startup solve the problem?
I think I completely missed out on something here...

The problem we do have here is that there is this prefix modders use for their files. They have to be unique so they will not get overwritten by other modders. This modder used a non-standard-ascii-character.
The result is that the mods files are not unpacked correctly nor can be found by the game if this character is not defined for/in the operating system. To prevent that, the installer forces you to use that specific setting. After that, it asks you to reboot to activate the setting.
Since the setup did not create an startup entry that somehow resumes the install, nothing happens then.
Just to sum it up why I explain so much technical stuff: Since you got this message, I assume you don't have an English/European OS but something more "exotic", which may lead to some problems in false display of "exotic" characters -- like Russian, Chinese... So maybe you will not be able to read your local character-sets on your PC. We had a Russian (?) fellow that had just that problem.
The setting affects not just Baldurs Gate but all the software on you windows system.
So you now do have the correct setting for the mod and you can unpack and install the mod if you still want to have it. There is no need for the installer to ask you to reboot your PC. Thus you don't need the startup entry.

IA replaces animations in the game, so your selections is met.

OK...
I guess the only question I have left is at what point do I need to do all those steps? Do I do them AFTER I was asked to reboot? Or before I start my installation? etc.
I am currently extracting all the mods using the setup program (not a manual install)... So what do I do once it tells me that the installation is ready to start?

If it rebooted successfully, it should have changed the codepage correctly. If you want to check, see the readme under troubleshooting here (the first point). Go into the control panel and make sure it says English for non-unicode programs as specified there.I guess the only question I have left is at what point do I need to do all those steps? Do I do them AFTER I was asked to reboot? Or before I start my installation? etc.
If BWS won't resume, you'll need to install the mod manually, and any other mods after it. So double-click on the setup-infinityanimation.exe file in your game folder and follow the prompts.
Edit: there is a way you could automate it, maybe as specified above, but most of that is beyond me.

Okay, thanks. Yeah, I already have all the mods downloaded, and my only question was whether choosing to opt out of a mod's component will require a re-download. But I understand what you mean, thanks!

So next time they run the BWS, it checks the correct codepage and continues the install (instead of asking for a reboot in the middle of the install)
PS: Yea, I know this sounds too stupidly obvious and I'm sure you guys already thought about this thing before but still ...

I don't think it's stupid ! I think it's a good idea. Check the codepage :So many peeps with rebooting problems Could the BWS check if the user has the correct codepage (if they have setup-infinityanimations.exe in their folder) and ask them to restart with the correct codepage BEFORE everything starts??

- each time BWS is run. This should be ok for most (all?) people,
- or, just before starting the installation (the famous .bat file). This should also be OK but less automatic.

I then started the installation again. It says that my previous installation was interrupted and I pressed start new installation and now it looks that it runs fine.
I am not sure is the installation ok now because I interupted it before with ctr+alt+del. Should I start it all over, I mean use fresh install?

You've just got to port that part back from the beta (available since end of June).
@Februarius: Depends on the batch and the output in the log-files... Usually the command will be executed again if it failed so it should be alright.

The strangest thing happened to me...
As I said, the installation went good, then restarted and didn't restart. So I uninstalled the games completely (This was before I recieved aid here...). Then, without restarting the computer, I read what was said here and reinstalled the game, and the BWP (I have all the downloads saved for good measure)... And it installed everything fine... No restart needed or anything...
Now, what I think happened is that since the computer restarted succefully last time and I hadn't restarted it since, the settings needed for the installation were already there and no restart was needed again.
Do you guys agree with my assessment?
