Hello,

Have been having lots of fun playing Classic Adventures v0.48 and am really impressed with the amount of detailed work that went into creating it.

That having been said, I've got a few questions about the game plot. (My party consists of PC- Paladin, Rilithar, Vildamyr, Dirbert, Shadow & Aesdale).

1. I met Pel'ja on the Selgaunt Bridge, with Vildamyr in my party, but did not get offered the quest to the Vault of Ages, as described in the Walkthrough. Is there some other pre-condition I needed to meet?

2. Found the Executioner in the basement of the Slaver Stronghold, but he would not speak with me. Is this a harmless glitch, or did I miss out on some critical game dialogue?

3. Also found the slave trader pass and the slave trade map, then travelled back to Westgate, but my world map did not change (no Suderhome). Is this the current end of the game? If not, please give me a hint as to what to do next/how to get Suderhome to show on my map.

4. I chose not to have Markessa join my party and asked her to instead accompany me back to Westgate. Now she keeps following me all around Westgate, instead of staying at the Salty Dog. Is this normal/harmless?

P.S. Discovered the hidden crypts section in the lower level of the Slaver Stronghold - Yeouch!!! It was really impressive and I had a blast figuring out the clever traps, specially locked doors and most of all - how to stay alive - (OK, OK, I admit it - I cheated and used a bunch of CTRL-R commands to keep my party from being totally wiped out several times.) Whoever designed this section of the Stronghold did a really great job.

If she is there, she should have talked to you about helping her. Vild or Rihn have to be in the party. She will not appear otherwise. So I may need to investigate this.

2. Found the Executioner in the basement of the Slaver Stronghold, but he would not speak with me. Is this a harmless glitch, or did I miss out on some critical game dialogue?

He will only talk to those he knows, Icar and/or Althon.

Suderham isn't on the Worldmap and even if it was, you could swim there. In Westgate you will need to find a ship's captain to take you there. I'll give you a hint, he crawled into a bottle.

4. I chose not to have Markessa join my party and asked her to instead accompany me back to Westgate. Now she keeps following me all around Westgate, instead of staying at the Salty Dog. Is this normal/harmless?

The same captain will take care of her for you.

one thing i think i mentioned elsewhere but in case i didn't, i noticed the last couple times i played pelja didn't instigate the talk. she just kind of stood there, until i talked to her. i didn't know if she is supposed to approach us, i thought she did the first time through. i've always had rihn, vild, or both, in the party. And she does give the quest if i speak to her first. Just wondered if some forcetalk setting isn't right on my install.

I have a problem with Gauntlet -mission. I can't release Fenla because her prisoner cells door can't be opened. Is there supposed to be a key for this door? I have checked all the bodies and searched through all the containers but can't find anything. I already killed the troll which was holding the Gauntlet and I told Sergeant Turtouald that the mission is over. And still I can't get that damn door open. And I can't get out of the tower either because if I try I get killed. =(

The doors in the fortress can all be opened by the Gauntlet. So using it to kill the troll before opening her cell would be a problem.

Pelja will not just run out and talk to you. I thought about doing this but she really is kind of obvious. Anyone who doesn't look like a peasant is probably somebody you should talk to in any a Baldur's Gate game.

Thank you for your answer although I have to disagree with you about the obviousness of the solution. The quest is all about urgency - at least I felt that the most urgent matter was to eliminate the danger, after that there would be plenty of time to release her. I actually act this way most of the time while playing Infinite Engine games and I have never countered a situation like this before. Maybe a suitable solution would be that both Sentinel Gauntlet and Sentinel Ring could open the doors?

Pel'ja is an elf who was from the Crown Wars, she feels nothing is urgent. Even if it means someone's life.

Most of the quests are from PnP modules. We try to remain true to the original module if possible.

There has been some form of misunderstanding. I'm talking about the Gauntlet quest where PC is supposed to save Princess Fenla. The urgency I was talking about was because The Sentinel was in a hurry to destroy The Gauntlet and so I felt that was the thing that I should do first. And that's the reason why I thought that I could save Fenla after I had destroyed The Gauntlet. I don't know if it's against the idea of the PnP modules, I'm just saying that I got stuck because I played the game the way that I felt was the right way.

one thing to keep in mind is you can unlock the door without immediately talking to the princess. You can also talk to her and ask her to wait there until you finish off the gauntlet, then come back and escort her out.

Yea of course you can but you can also get stuck like I did and I don't think it's acceptable in any game/mod for players to get stuck by making a different choice.

No, I agree with you. I think the ring should give you the same ability as the gauntlet. The only problem is that locks only allow for one device to unlock them. So instead, I will add to the area script to just open all of the doors on this floor if you defeat the troll.

Pelja will continue to just stand there for now. As Leahnkain says, she isn't in a hurry. My issue with actors running up to you is that you feel that you have to drop everything else you are doing to take care of their problems. I may change this later but right now, I'll leave it as is.

This will most certainly fix the problem. Thank you for taking this project forward with such admirable passion.
