Wondering about Faster Romances

bigg, thanks first of all for making the mod.

I'm interested in trying the Faster Romances part, and was thinking about using the Light setting. I like to do pretty much every quest in the game when I play, so was wondering if Light will be sufficient, or if there'll still be a chance that the romance won't complete (I only plan on playing through one romance per game). I'd be grateful if anyone who plays the game in this fashion and has tried the Light setting could advise me.

I may also look to add mods like Quest Pack and Fishing for Trouble, which will no doubt increase how long I play for.

I'm sorry, this question is pretty much impossible to answer in any sort of helpful way without knowing how fast do you play.

Hmm, I suppose that makes sense. I'd hoped that someone would be able to answer based simply on my completing all the quests. I suppose the only thing I can do is try Light and see if it increases things enough (I'm sure you designed it to make some significant difference at least).

Well, "I complete all the quests" isn't useful information: different people take different times to complete quests, so I can't give advice based on that :)

This component uses a pseudo-polinomial function to make sure that long timers (like waiting for Jaheira's Pin) are shortened more than normal timers. The one-hour timer (separating two successive normal love talks) becomes 55 minutes in Light, 50 minutes in Medium, and 45 minutes in Heavy (if I'm reading my comments correctly).

Yeah, I accept that and appreciate you trying to help.

Once more question, if I may: Does this component affect banters at all? I found an old post of yours at G3 that talked about Faster Romances and the IEP Banter Accelerator, where you said "I use the IEP accelerator and mine in tandem (mine goes after). The IEP makes banters accelerable as opposed to hardcoded, whereas mine speeds up romances, banters, Jaheira's quest, and anything else depending on RealTimer(). Even so, if you fast-play and skip some less interesting/rewarding quests, you might not complete legally the longer romances."

I didn't think that Faster Romances did speed up banters, but your comment there suggests that it does (unless I'm misunderstanding, which is quite possible). If, for example, I used IEP to set banter frequency to 45 mins, and then installed Faster Romances, would the banters appear more often than every 45 mins?

Faster Romances only speeds up banters if you installed a separate accelerator (either the IEP or the one from PPG's Banter Pack). If you installed no accelerator, Faster Romances doesn't alter banter timing.

Of course, given the underlying calculations in FR, it's possible that 45 minutes might not be altered by FR.

Hmm, I was thinking that FR may not affect a banter frequency of 45 mins (and even if it does, it won't be by much I imagine). Thanks a lot, Dr bigg (is it just me or are you a lot nicer to people since you became a doc?).
