Can't find the BiG World Install vX.bat from my directory? Whaat..well I'll try this shit with my older graphiccard..

Do you guys have an answer? Why I can't find the BiG World Install vX.bat? I disabled the ambientsounds and it work well to the point when the Marvelous-guy comes to you after you have rested..when the man uses his spells it starts lagging like hell..

I managed finally to finish the BG1 part of BWP, and all I can say is that IT WAS GREAT! I had a lot of fun and I am very happy to say that the bugs I encountered were very few, rare and very small, easily ignored. Congratulations BWP team for making this great project so stable and fun and thank you very much for your effort in doing it so! . I can easily say that BWP enhances the fun factor of the game many times over, and transforms it radically in a very good way :D .
And now I am eager to start the BG2 part for the first time using BWP but I have two questions: 1. Is the Post- Install safe to use? I saw in some topic recently that somebody had some problems and after playing for so long I wouldn't like to ruin my install, and 2. Is it possible to transfer the items on my character from BG1 to 2 without cheating? I know that it was possible in the past but it seems that it's not possible anymore, I just want to be sure.

1. Are you going to install either Chloe v1.2 or ImoenFull1.2+1.201 mods, if not, then the post install does nothing!
2. No. The items would be a cheat, so that's a no. There is a mod that does this, but it's a cheat mod... and you'll be soon getting already better equipment, so there really is no point.

Thank you for the answer Jarno, but let's say okay, I don't really want Chloe and Imoen, but I can see in the BWP instructions manual this information about Baldur's Gate Trilogy- Music "This Mod must be installed to return the right music with Baldur's Gate and the Legends of the Sword Coast. If you play Shadows of Amn and/or Throne of Bhaal, this component must be uninstalled again to restore the original music.." So if I don't do the full post install I should at least uninstall manually this?

Edit: and also about the items... okay I don't mind if I don't transfer most of the items from BG1 to 2 but some items are needed in BG2 like the
Spoiler
and it should be normal to transfer at least that, so is there really no normal way to do that without cheating?

Yes, uninstall the BGT-Music manually. :)

You said this:

I can easily say that BWP enhances the fun factor of the game many times over, and transforms it radically in a very good way

and then this:

I don't mind if I don't transfer most of the items from BG1 to 2 but some items are needed in BG2 like and it should be normal to transfer at least that, so is there really no normal way to do that without cheating?

Do you think, you must handle this for yourself then? Don't think about it, the needed items were transferred. :)

Can't find the BiG World Install vX.bat from my directory? Whaat..well I'll try this shit with my older graphiccard..

If you extract the Installpack in the BG2 main directory you find the Install.bat there. Otherwise something is disabled on your computer, so you can't see it.

I disabled the ambientsounds and it work well to the point when the Marvelous-guy comes to you after you have rested..when the man uses his spells it starts lagging like hell..

Have you used End_Biff, now?

Wow it's great to hear that! Thank you for this very useful information :D . And now with these things clarified it's time to enter the vast new world of BWP part 2 (in the past called BG2 :P )... it's so strange, now I don't feel like I entered in another game called BG2, I just feel that I continue playing Baldur's Gate and it's a great feeling :) . Again Thank You Leonardo and Leomar and the rest of the BWP team for transforming the original BG games in this new game called BWP that is so much fun to play! And of course a big Thank You to all the modders that made all the great mods that are in BWP!

I want to know what mods i should drop from the big list of standard installation.

I've installed BWP 5.7 with all mods in standard form(with few small mod errors) and i face an unplayable terrible lag when i exit Candlekeep(in Candlekeep is fine :) ), starting a new BG2 game, starting a new ToB game(lag is when i move the characters on map and the cursor of mouse, and when i enter save/load/exit screen the cursor of mouse is not lagging).
I have a 1.15GHz and i have a hunch that this is the cause(too small).
I really want to play this awesome game :crying: and to do anything necessary to make it work even if i have to drop most of mods, or maybe are some particular mods that use extensively the CPU that are important for shaping the game and is no way to make it work on my sistem.

You really should read the whole topic, as who_is_daniel and Goatsepupu had the same thing because they didn't follow this;
For the third and final time:

Did you disable the ambient sounds and use the biffing?

0. Always patch the game(s) with the latest patch, start a new game and exit after the game has auto-saves itself(so you have to make a char or choose a pre-made one), before you do any moding, and you might as well make a safe backup from the important files: data and override folders, baldur.exe, BGMain.exe, dialog.tlk and CHITIN.key .
1. Put the ambient sounds off from the BGConfic.exe, as some of the areas might have no ambient sounds and so the game tries to start them many time continuously, and so looses processing power.
2. Don't mess with the game configurations so the speed adjustment percentages stay on "normal" ratings even if you have very high end machine, as the game has own it's internal fps counter, it sometimes tries to correct the fps on it's own by lowering graphs etc. Also the games frame rate should be set to about 30, as that's the default.
3. I wouldn't recommend to install any of the speaking item mods, as they run their scripts and fire their comments everywhere, and that's bad for the fps(frames/second count).
4. Delete the old files from the Cache folder time to time.
5. Inventory management(no stacks that have more than about 200 items, in a bag, arrows etc.), -might help.
6. Trying to avoid too many effects on a character(about 20 is fine, 200 is too many, and 20 000 is way way too many...)
7. De-fragmenting your hard drive might also help... as you don't have to go find the data in the pieces. (hmm, there is a joke in there, hih)
8. Install the mods in correct order, and make sure you started from a clean install, so there is no leftovers from old mods, by deleting the old mod files, the data and override folders(don't go and overwrite them), helpful links for for Tutu and BGT(the .pdf files) -based Megamods.
9. It might be a good idea to biff your override folder, but do that knowing that you generally can't change the game much after. Or use the End_biff from here.

PS, you need to do the last part before you install the Widescreen mod.

I had problems manually uninstalling BGTMusic :( . First of all when I uninstalled it, it also uninstalled widescreen so I had to install it again. And second and the worst of all is that I can't start the game anymore :( . I have the error "An Assertion failed in ChSound.cpp at line number 4905" Can anybody help me please?

Edit: also when I installed it again - BGT music, the game functions again normally, but I really don't want to play BG2 with BG1 music
And also, is it absolutely necessary to use a backup of BGmain.exe for installing again widescreen? Because I tried uninstalling and installing without using the backup and everything functioned normally.

@ dreamer2007

Try this, what is mentioned in the guide on page 148:

27. CHANGES AFTER THE TRANSITION FROM BG1 TO BG2

27.0. Widescreen Mod v2
If you had installed the Widescreen Mod before, you first must Uninstall it completely.
Don?t Re-Install this mod! You will get the message "EXE patching failed".

Double-click the Setup. The DOS dialogue appears:
Install Component 0 [Widescreen Mod]? [U]ninstall

Replace the BGMain.exe with a copy from your backup! Don?t use the backup-file itself - you may
need it later! (see point 26.4.)
The Install.bat has made a backup for you and you can find it in the ".\BiG World Fixpack\_temp\widescreen" directory.

27.1. Baldur?s Gate Trilogy - Music
If you play Shadows of Amn and/or Throne of Bhaal, this component must be uninstalled
again to restore the original music..

Double-click the Setup. The DOS dialogue appears:
Install Component [Baldur?s Gate Trilogy - Music]? choose one:
0 1] Full Baldur?s Gate and Tales of the Sword Coast Music [U]ninstall

27.9. Widescreen Mod v2
Double-click the Setup. The DOS dialogue appears:
Install Component 0 [Widescreen Mod]? [I]nstall

Or try the Post-Install.bat, then all these steps does it.

@ neutrowave

ERROR: BIFF [./MOVIES/25MOVIES.BIF] cannot be loaded

All these errors means that you haven't done a full install of ToB. That's why the Install.bat warns you for that. All the other errors could result because of the missing 25movies.bif file. Sorry, but in your case you must do a new installation and follow these steps (click me) for it.

Is somethig wrong with this line cuz in my weidu.log don't appear?(i no longer have weidu.log, sry)
%IFXES%MTS_Crappackv2%S%MTS_Crappackv2%L%0%SK% 6 8 9 | %M%

These components are for the expert-version only. The "X" in IFXES shows you the expert mods/components in the Install.bat.

I found the solution with the help of a friend :D . This is a link with a solution to this error : http://www.shsforums...p...&hl=CHSound
It was a problem with the songlist.2da being too long, but I don't understand why this problem appeared only after I uninstalled BGTMusic. And I made a check to see if this problem also appears after using the post install and yes it does.
But now only one uncertainty remains about widescreen. Leomar, I know that the manual says this about using the backup with widescreen but the fact is that I just uninstalled it and then installed again and nothing appears to be wrong. Now after fixing the songlist the game works and is at the widescreen resolution I selected. But if you say that I need to use the backup just in case to avoid problems although everything appears to work like it should, ofcourse I will do that, but if that's the case can I use the backup made from the start, before the BWP installation? Or are there other mods that modify bgmain and that wouldn't be possible?

Well, by uninstallaing the mod, you restore the too long songlist.2da file.
That's necessary because the NPC mods etc have their individual songs for romances... and other things. So by first restoring(uninstalling) the file and then rechoosing them(installing it again), youthe mod can try to choose more songs appropriate songs in the too long songlist.2da, and make the combination that still has some BG1/BG2 songs... :)

and nothing appears to be wrong.

So don't do a thing, that's how it's supposed to be.

were added to the Updated News.

@ dreamer2007

Thanks for all the informations. So we know you can't uninstall BGT-Music only in such a megamod, because it will bring back the overcrowded songlist.2da. We thought that if you install BGT-GUI after BGT-Music will correct this on an easy way, but that is wrong. You must manually handle the songlist.2da like it is desribed in the guide. Thanks for testing it. We'll mentioned it better in the guide.

And good to know, that you don't need the backup of the bgmain.exe anymore. This was the situation with Widescreen Mod v1. It looks like that this problem is not happen with v2. We'll check this, too. :)

We have find out, that if you want to install SoA, but not Drizzt Saga you must do something to get it to work. Please look in the Important News post.
