Greetings to SHS community.

Since this is my very first attempt to install BW, I thought I'd give it a go and ask for some information before going to an uncharted area. I think I could install a standard version without help (trial and error ftw). The thing is, I want to install the expert version because all of the gewd stuff there(tougher opponents mostly) are treated as a "gray area". I dont plan to go crazy over nej and other uncompatible stuff, just the BG2 tactical encounters and if possible, Vault for BG1. Im no stranger to BG, just the uber-madness that is installing numerous mods. That said, I'd like to move on to the problem. I quote frome the BWpdf manual:"The pertinent mods are greyed out in the instructions and are only installed if you remove the preceding indent." My question is, what preceding indent is it referring to. I'd not fancy surfing for several hours through the install-bat just to miss it. So could someone point me to it, or better yet, give a short summary on how to install the expert-version.

The short version: Start the "BiG World Project Installer.bat", and choose the Expert version, when it ask which you wish to install. :lol:

The long:
1) Download the mod files...
2) You need to have all the mod files unpacked from their respected packs like; .rar's, .exe's , .zip's, and .7z's. It's best to run the .exe's and give them a folder that's specifically made for unpacking the files and as the WeiDU-window opens, so just close it as it reports that you don't have the dialog.tlk in the directory. The others can be opened and decompiled with either WinRAR or the 7-Zip program(more details on the .pdf file).
3) Then you install and make backups of the game(BG2:SoA and ToB+patch v(2.5.)26498. Make sure the original game works, by starting it once and play until the game auto-saves(when the character is released by Imoen from the cell).
4) Then you move all the unpacked mod files you wish to install to the game directory, with all the unpacked files that come from the BiG World Fixpack v6.0.7, BiG World Installpack v5.7, End_ Biff_v2.1 and BP-Balancer-v0.33b beta(well this is not necessarily needed).
5) Run the "BiG World Project Installer.bat" and choose either the English or German, and the Expert version.
Done few hours later.
6) Start the BGMain.exe and play the game.

The very long version:
Read the BiG_World_v5.7_beta__english.pdf ... <_<

The trial by fire: randomly choose a mod and fire it up.

I appreciate the information. It seems the install isn't as hard as BWpdf manual makes it seem. Though I yet again ran into problems.
An excerpt from the manual:

6.4.2. Replace the folder Worldmap with this one of the same name from the folder DrizztSagaWM_v7.
6.4.3. To be able to install Drizzt Saga, you must copy the file worldmap.wmp immediately before installation
of the mod from the folder BiG World Fixpack into the override folder.

1)to 6.4.2 I've located the folder Wordlmap inside the DRIZZTSAGA folder, but I can't find the folder DrizztSagaWM_7 (thus I have nothing to replace the Wordlmap folder inside the DRIZZTSAGA folder with). I've searched inside the BGT-BP-Worldmap folder but to no avail. And as of that I'm out of ideas of where to look. The manual makes it look like it should be obvious of where to look, but I'm just lost in here...

2)6.4.3 I can't find the file worldmap.wmp frome the folder BIG World Fixpack. Is it in some of those subfolders inside the fixpack folder or should it be immediately in sight when I open the fixpack folder? And is it possible, that the worldmap.wmp isn't displayed as a .wmp file( I mean, the baldur.ini file wasnt displayed as .ini, though from previous experiences I was able to locate it with ease). If so, then what are the possible 'filetypes' it could appear as?

Or your problem might also be, that you do not understand that the BWP Fixpack does it's work all automatically if you have it in the game directory, when you install with the BiG World Project Installer('s .bats). It's automated install, so you don't have to bother yourself with all the manual fixes...

Correction: Now the DrizztSagaWM_7 was this. And you do not need it anymore, as you have the Worldmap v7.1 . :wacko:

Well, this is a first ... I don't remember seeing any mention of this thing to be downloaded. If this is important, shouldn't the link be mentioned in the linkliste??? :whistling: or does the BWP Fixpack already have it in it???

Anyway, smooth sailin in my game now :D But getting overwhelmed by the quests lol :cheers:

As I was working on packing my apartment (moving is a bitch) I ran another install and I really hope ot worked this time.

Anyhow, here is my WeiDU  Log.  I made sure that both the fix packs you mentioned were ready to go.  Looks like everything went fine.  I removed the Biffer before the install deciding I will run that after I can get confirmation that everything is working correctly.

Would anyone mind taking a look at this log and giving me some feedback?  I would really be thankful for that.

With lesser or more of 45 mods, you can use the Install.bat, too. Extract the mods you wish in your BG2 directory only, and run the Install.bat. The Install.bat installs only the mods you have in your BG2 directory.

Install Component [Improved Difficulty System. (v2)]?
If the shiver of the screen is harmless, why do you choose to avoid this component? I think is one of the most useful tweaks that can be done to the game: it allows (thanks to the mods that address it, of course) you to play at higher or lower levels of difficulty without breaking the standard AD&D rules.

If you want this component you can add it in the Install.bat. We have not much experience with this component. Have you played with it in the past?

I can't say, why it is installed first in your WeiDU.log. Normally it should be installed with the expert-version and then with UB. "Cat and mouse" is for experienced gamers only, and therefore we moved it into the expert-version.

After the files have been BIffed and the auto install process is compleated and would it totaly screw things up if I Installed the Ashes of Embers (the component that lets every class wield all weapons) Would the Biffinging stop it from working?


No, you can install many mods after the end_biff, but if you want some mods in your installation, use them in the right installation order. We have not tested it afterwards.

Also if I removed the the "What would you like to do with component ?Shapeshifting Fix??
30 1] Heal on shifting back to human (Default) [1]" from the Refinements v3.20 (according to BWv5.)
and added
"Install Component 1150 [Shapeshifter Rebalancing]? [N]ot Install

Here you have the old version, you should use the new v1.07 one (not the WIP anymore). By the way, SCS v11 is released and fixed a messenger bug.

And Larloch is right, you have mixed up the installation of Ding0's Quest Pack. This mod must be installed in a correct way and you have changed that with your manually editing. If you edit the Install.bat, it is very important to follow the advises in the manual. So it could be that you have done some little more mistakes... What have you changed manually in the Install.bat?

[EDIT] I've seen you attached the BiG World Debug, now. The Debug is to large with 32 MB. A complete expert-version have circa 15 MB Debug. Have you done a clean install (click me), if you use the Install.bat again? That is very important. To start the Install.bat twice can messed up your whole installation.

The problem is, i like a rather different configuration, (which i'm quite confident that works, of course) and i want it in spanish. I'm not talking about the order, but about the components BWP choose to install and those that discard.

Yes, and it does exactly what it claims to. It's a nice addon for any who wants to play or wants to switch to play on a different level of difficulty at any time.

Even if i follow to the letter the installation order that the .pdf describes? Or that's a different subject? The fact is, that i don't want to install many mods, just 45 or so, the ones for BG1, mostly.

Then yes, the manual and the Install.bat are the same. The manual is a guide for the Install.bat. The hotfixes, which we install during the installation are described in the manual, too. So, do the following steps:

1.) Extract all your mods in the BG2 main directory
2.) Extract the BiG World Fixpack in the BG2 main directory
3.) Start the BiG World Fixpack
4.) Do your installation and look in the manual or in the Install.bat for the needed hotfixes during the installation process

Now, I do not know if it has come to BWP teams knowledge, but in case it hasn't... the Spell Revision has to be moved after the Ascension mod, at least in case the Ascension mod is installed, so the Spell Revisions revisions stay. Or at least put a warning to the BiG_World_v....pdf -file. It's same perhaps with every component of the 19. BG2 RULES, TWEAKS AND SPELLS -index. Or perhaps move the whole index category after Ascension Related mods(19-> <-20)... unless there is more than I can see(like a spell re-assignmentation mod).

I encountered a serious bug with the item "cloak of the wolf"(polymorphs in warewolf once a day) that has altered permanently all NPC in my party after polymorphing each of them(proposly doing all for testing) and then back to initial form, the claws of the warewolf apear after a short time(remains like that and can't use weapon and arow slots saying "magical weapon equiped") then it does the same if i do the polymorphing again. I tried on my character also but it had the "two handed sword +3" cursed item on and the claws didn't apeared.

Has anyone got this bug?

That's an old bug with one of the Shapeshifter adjusting mods.

Thanx :D , good to know, if it is a general shapeshifting bug to avoid maybe characters that have this ability. Perhaps is best to not install those mods that screw with polimorphing or put them in the extended-standard version in the upcoming BWP edition.

I have installed all the mods in standard form (only) of BWP 5.7.

So apparently one can't use the BG2Fixpack v8 with the BWP for now this it's not related to the BG2Fixpack v8... (the Imp eats his words)

By the way, there is a lot of *// Recently Uninstalled: ~SETUP-GUI.TP2~ #0 #0 // Game Graphical User Interface (GUI) -> "Original SoA/ToB"* in the WeiDU.logs, mistake in the .bat coding perhaps.

Not sure but I think you just need to delete the Bg2fixpack (it was intended for older versions) from BWP fixpack since they are no longer required
