NPC conversations not displaying properly?

Hi all,

Longtime lurker, first time poster.

Recently, NPC conversations have stopped displaying properly.

BTW, amazing community, thank you all for your insanely great efforts.  You have stretched the enjoyment of this game beyond imagination.

I would have liked to try to help you, but I haven't got anything that can open .docx. Could you convert the screenshot to a different format? You can attach .jpg to forum posts, by the way.

My apologies.

essentially, what happens is whenever there is supposed to be interaction between the NPCs or the NPCs and my PC, i just get blank screens and "continue" button to click at the bottom...

Did you try installing a mod with the game running? That's the most common cause of empty dialogue windows.

You shouldn't do that, by the way. If you have, I know of no solution but reinstallation.

(OT) Berelinde - docx files are for Word 2007. If you're using Word 2003 there's an update you can download from Microsoft that allows you to read docx files. Grab it here.

Unfortunately, your saved games will probably be corrupt. When you install a mod with the game open, you pretty much wipe your dialog.tlk, so I'm not sure if it's going to work. It's worth a try, though.

About docx and Word 97, I don't have Word on this computer at all. I use Open Office to open doc files, but I don't feel like shelling out the buck$ for M$ Office.
