Noticed a fun little cheat a few months ago... After you've made it through most of watchers keep, you reach the Machine of Lum The Mad. Now, if you've collected all the bits of parchment that say things such as, "Long circle the blue," You're in good shape. You can increase magic resistance and all of your attributes. Here's the sad part of my story- you can only do each one time on one character before the machine decides to be a buzz-kill and cuts you off.
However, there's a way to cheat this and get your magic resistance as high as possible AND get all of your attributes all the way up to 25 (which is the limit of course). Since steps are always easiest for me to follow, i decided to write these down so that i don't forget. (WARNING: IF YOU AREN'T PLAYING ON MULTIPLAYER I CANNOT GUARANTEE THIS CHEAT WILL WORK AS I HAVE NOT TRIED IT. AT WORST, ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS SELECT MULTIPLAYER AND THEN ASSIGN CONTROL OF ALL CHARACTERS TO YOURSELF)
First, make two different saves before you use the machine. (PS. THIS IS IMPORTANT! IF YOU SAVE AFTERWARD IT WILL NOT WORK!) I would advise naming one, "Experiment" and the other "Before Attributes" But, of course, you can name them whatever you want. Just make sure you'll remember the difference between them later.
Next, use one chosen character and do everything on the machine you can (i'll write all of the commands down shortly if you didn't collect them all). After this, save over "Experiment".
Then, go to options and load the save labeled, "Before Attributes" (or whatever you decided to call it).
Now, delete the character you altered the attributes of and then click on create character. Next, import your chosen character from "Experiment". After you've finished, accept all of your characters and play on "Before Attributes".
Lather, rinse, repeat. Once you've mastered this, it's cake. You're characters will become so powerful you won't even know what to do with them and you can totally pwn every enemy that comes along. If you have any questions or my directions were not explicit enough, just let me know :D

~Thought i forgot, didn't you?~
Magic resistance-Long lever, blue button, green button. This gives you 5% magic resistance.
Intelligence-Long lever, circular, blue button
Strength-Short lever, medium lever, square
Wisdom-Circular, square, triangle
Dexterity-Blue button, square, short lever
Charisma-Short lever, red button, green button
Constitution-Long lever, red button, circular

Unfortunately, this is an old chestnut. (I thought you discovered something like "fake talk" strategy).

You can just do one save "Before", do the machine, export your character, and then load "Before" and import "bettered" character into it.

I'm not naive enough to think that i'm the first person to figure this out, but i figured there might be someone out there who hasn't yet. I really needed something to do last night lol so i wrote that all out. Plus, half the time when people right short, simple directions i have a tendency to get lost. In depth directions sometimes help me more that's why i did that. I never really tried any save and import strategies until this year so i really just started figuring out things that everybody else probably already knows.

ONCE AGAIN, KILL THE FONT!

Seriously, that has been around for ages, and if you head over to BioWare forums (forums.BioWare.com) and go to the BGII/ToB Gen Desc. forum, you will find a thread called "What constitutes cheating". Read that, and reply here.

I am Myst over there, btw.

Font fixed (especially for those still hung over on Christmas tipple).

I must admit I didn't know this cheat but it does seem rather long-winded. Shadowkeeper is a rather more quick and dirty solution.

I must admit I'd use that method to change stats before I got Shadowkeeper. :D

I have a couple of imported characters from BG1 (both level 8, one male, one female, both lawful neutral fighters) and so if I generally just use one of those and tinker with the stats, class and aligment if I want to do something different with them. Under normal circumstances I would take a new character all the way through from Candlekeep, but I borked my last attempt to reinstall BG1 and now can't get it to work. I think the disc is damaged, but at least, it's left something in the registry too. In the interests of fairness I try to keep the total stat points the same, and just rejig them if according to the new character class. Anyway, that's all a bit boring isn't it.

This might help you to find the faulty part, or at least it gives info on where to look... of course the help is for BG2, so it needs to be adjusted.

i am in a leakier version of the same boat when it comes to instructions. And thanks for posting that list, although i'll only use it once in single-player it will still be very helpful to me (and my Fighter/Mage/Thief).
