So BGT is installed already correct?

No, it will be installed afterwards (5.1 in the pdf; Setup is currently not really available to look the number or the places up, since I found problems and Dabus will probably prepare a new version for testing), as it seems. (TDD 4.1).

(Are we installing in the wrong order?)

If BGT has not been installed, that BIF should not be in the data folder because BGT creates it. The real problem is why that BiF exists without BGT having been installed. You can try removing that file from the data folder but who knows how many other problems you may have with this BWS.

Hm, maybe it's because I did a BWP before and did not delede all the files. The BWS-restoration maybe should include the data folder to get rid of such problems...

Everything worked fine after I deleded the data-folder and restored the original one. I also suggested to include the folder into the backup to prevent incidents like this one. Anyway, thanks for your help, Hoppy! :)

O.K. this issue happens with the backup restoration of the BWS. So the BWS is the culprit.

We found out, that BG2 Fixpack and BGT copies files into different BG2 mod folders (not only the override folder), so that the pinned topics with an easy BG2 restoration is not working with that mods. The information is outdated. We'll work on a correct working BWS backup, at the moment.

Please don't discuss this in the TDD thread. If you have any comments, use the BWP thread.

Greetings Leomar

Hey Hoppy,

I noticed that recent TDD v1.13 found here at SHS is just a hair different than the one found at BWL (which includes a newer .spl file). So which one is the correct/current version?

Thank you,

This explains the different spell. Since it was a last minute change and we had troubles with uploading here at SHS, I was not able to make the change to both archives. The BWL version has the earlier version of the spell (works the best) where as the hotfix can be applied if the spell has the bad fix from the package here at SHS.

For archiving purposes, there isn't much difference and TDD will be adding some new languages in a couple months so there will be a new version anyway.

Update:

Don't expect to get the NPC's from TDD to have their quests function if BGT is installed after TDD. Same problem as before with 1.12 and BGT will change the death variables in the scripts so only the imported version of SharTeel, Kivan and Xzar get their quests. A lot of head aches lead to 100% failure.

When 1.14 is released, I will revert the scripts back to their already incompatible with BGT state and request that TDD is installed after BGT so TDD NPC's are continuous and there will be no more problems with "why doesn't Shar-Teel's quest work when I go to the Slums District" if the install instructions are followed by my suggestion and not the Big World Project's instruction.

He's probably referring to this post by Mike1072 concerning the level 50 rules of TDD and BP. And a recommended action would then be to use one of the coded solutions by Wisp from #67 for mxsplpal.2da. And it seems that Wisp will post patches for the other mxspl files as well in a few days.

Hi, I've been playing TDD recently, im just in chapter two doing the d'Arnise keep quest and recently everytime I rest I crash. This happened before once, but it went away as soon as i kicked Minsc out of my party. I started a new game 'cause I wanted to keep Minsc, but now it's happening again, only now it stops when I kick Viconia out. I really want to keep her, for a while I just kicked her and told her to stay, rested, got her back, then immediately rested and it would work, but now it doesn't work at all if she's in my party. Can someone help please? Apart from TDD I also have the G3 Tweak Pack, Spell 50 and Dungeon-Be-Gone mods installed.

Please post your entire weidu log of mods installed. A list is called WeiDU and is a text document in your game folder. This doesn't sound like TDD exclusive so something is mising from required mods or install order is whacked.

Thank you for the more appropriate link. Now before I make some changes I want to know what the justification is rather than the reason being just picky code as TDD's level 50 installs fine if something else didn't screw with the level 50 ruleset. I just went over this with Ilot in his test install where he used some outside level 50 replacer before TDD and could not get TDD to install correctly because of this.

I just need to know more about the ramifications of these changes and not blindly copy/paste something in the TP2 thinking it is some grand epiphany because someone can't install TDD again for the second time.

What's wrong with the current code, at least in BP:

  • The patches for mxsplpal and mxsplran incorrectly assumes the tables start at level 1. They don't and this causes the patch to add too many rows if another mod has already added rows.
  • The patch for mxsplran doesn't cover level 40 (it stops at level 39 and resumes at level 41).
  • The patch for mxsplsrc has some incorrect values here and there. Specifically, at level=19, spell_level=7 and level=21, spell_level=8 it writes 5 but at the next level it writes 4 (it also writes 4 at spell_level=6 and spell_level=7, respectively).
  • The column additions to mxsplpal and mxsplran add columns even if there already are columns of that spell level present. Additionally, the dummy entries in mxsplpal are removed twice and the dummy entries in mxsplran are not removed at all.
  • The patches are incompatible with many other modifications to the mxspl tables and there's no reason for them to be.

I'll post some sort of pitch for why you should use Wisp brand code along with the code itself. Obviously you decide for yourself what to do.

What's wrong with the current code

To put it in simpler terms (at least as far as I understand it) if you installed some other mod that messes with those tables before TDD, the existing patches can fail, or hose the tables at least. Since all the larger mods tended to copy and paste the same code from each other, I would suspect it to have the other issues mentioned as well.

Since all the larger mods tended to copy and paste the same code from each other, I would suspect it to have the other issues mentioned as well.

I have found Region of Terror gets the same errors with same types of files MXSPL__.2da so it is probably all related to the level 50 ruleset. So whatever needs to be changed with TDD will have to with RoT as well. It is probably just duplicate of what TDD does anyway as they both check for each other's level 50 additions.

Again these errors currently only happen if old crap is left over from an uninstall or another level extension has been added pre-TDD or pre-RoT. Don't know what that could be.

I'll post some sort of pitch for why you should use Wisp brand code along with the code itself. Obviously you decide for yourself what to do.

Thanks for the detail and I will make the appropriate changes to Region of Terror as well if it applies or if you find other errors in its table patching.

Do I have to reinstall in a different order? And if so do I have to start all over again?

Where is the Darkest Day? If you are playing the .exe type of installer version 102d or 103 I don't really know how to debug them although I do have them. Did you install it before all of this stuff above? Probably with the self included Baldurdash fixpack with the TDD installer I assume?

Try removing some tweaks and retest to help narrow it down.

Hi Hop, just tried picking up TDD Shar-Teel and she books off about 3 seconds after joining. It's the same thing as Xzar where rep is too high (but its only 18). The BGtweak "party members complain about rep but don't leave" is installed so don't know why they are leaving.

Also Adario's last thief quest never triggered. In this case its good because he sticks around permanently without having to run back and finish the quest. But it could be just a quirk.

BG2 vanilla NPC's are affected by that tweak. TDD NPC's have their own different scripts and they jet when your rep is too high and they probavly aren't affected by that tweak. You can try asking about including them for the tweak but I will retain their originals for TDD.

Sounds like the Adario quest isn't working for you and I have not heard of the problem. Ilot just tested the whole mod and Adario's stuff was fine for him. Probably the timer isn't counting down correctly and can happen sometimes but not reproduced all the time. I am not sure if something is funky with compatibility or just too much stuff there. I haven't had problems with his quest with pretty large installs.
