I'm not sure how to attach my WeiDU log if that would help.

Just open your WeiDU.log file with notepad and copy it and paste it in a post.

Can you tell me how you have made your BWP installation? Your WeiDU.log shows me, that you have not used the "BiG World Fixpack" which is important for a BWP install.

Yes, every component indicates the language used, I made the numbers bold that shows this, and in this case the #0 is English, and usually the zero is English, but not always!

I followed the instructions for the auto-installation from the manual using Install.bat 5.5.2. I did have the BWP Fixpack in my BG2 directory before starting the install, and as well as the Fixpack files that I unpacked there, there are now 2 files entitled BWP_Fixpack.installed and BWP_Smoothpack.installed. So I thought they went OK?

It should be ok then. The only weird thing is that you don't have the fixes marked at the end of the ~setup-modname.tp2~ #0 #0 // plah -lines...

Perhaps the latest BWFixpack(BiG_World_Fixpack_v6.0.5) just doesn't add those lines. Or which version of the BWFixpack did you use?

One thing I didn't do was to run the Fixpack before the install.bat, due to the thread 'Serious problem with BWP install' which has two posts saying that it wasn't necessary:

You shouldn't install that, as you haven't, which is good.

Actually, there is one line in the WeiDU.log above that says: ~SETUP-HALFENFIX.TP2~ #1 #0 // Halfen Fix
Does the #1 here mean German? I don't know what Halfenfix is, and I don't remember being asked about it during install.

It shouldn't as the BiG_World_v5.5.2_beta_english.pdf says:

10.1.5. Copy the files Setup-halfenfix.exe and Setup-halfenfix.tp2 from the folder BiG World Fixpack into your main SoA directory.
10.1.6. Double-click the Setup. The DOS dialogue appears:
Choose your language: 1 [English]
Installing 0 [Halfen Fix]
Successfully installed [Halfen Fix] Press ENTER to exit

I do realise that the manual still says to install the fixpack beforehand however.

Apart from that I unpacked all the other BWP tools (including EndBiff), Worldmap 7, BD 1.66 and all the mods of course outlined in the WeiDU log.

Could it be, that you run the BW Fixpack and then extracted the mods into the BG2 directory? If yes, this is wrong. First you must extract the mods into the BG2 main directory and then start the Install.bat which calls the BW Fixpack. The BW Fixpack can only make corrections if the mods are present.

The halfenfix is a fix for BG1UB and must be installed after BG1UB is installed. Therefore this fix handles the Install.bat.

Well, it's actually the ": 6.1" -end we are looking for.

Can you post your new WeiDU.log?
In your BG2 main directory exist after the BWP installation a "BiG World Debug.txt". Could you pack it and upload it on www.fastshare.org or somewhere else?

"Kim NPC" is a french mod and Xicloing has translated it in german. At the moment Xicloing translate it in english, too.

At the end of these lines you see the mentioned fix, so we know now, that you have installed the BW Fixpack correctly this time.

Next time it is better to pack the "BiG World Debug.txt" with 7-Zip or WinRAR, so it is faster to upload and download it.

Your whole installation shows two errors only:

[SOS/BAF/CBBANDED.BAF] PARSE ERROR at line 8 column 1-45

This error is O.K. and well known. You will get no problems with SoS in the game, so ignore it.

[ub/Minsc/Appends/arwwbo.baf] PARSE ERROR at line 7 column 16-75

This looks like the same issue as above, so ignore it.

I also experienced this exact same bug.


What is this business about not installing BG Fixpack before? That's what I did! The blasted BWP-readme said I should.

Still, I should have actually read that other thread properly "serious problem with BWP install" especially since I started the thread with an enquiry. My own fault. I'll have to reinstall all over again, in order to get my dream of a near-perfect bug-free installation - *sigh*
