@ Dirty Uncle Bertie

In this thread I've explaind some about the BW Fixpack and then I see in this thread that you have another questions. Most of them has answered the others.

I've only just discovered the fixpack so apologise if I've missed something here, but I was looking through the folders and noticed that for Bigg Tweaks, you have a file called tb_tweaks.tp2, but I believe it should be tb#tweaks.tp2.

We'll check this, looks like an spelling mistake.

I'm guessing that if a Hotfix for a mod is newer than the latest BWP Fixpack, I should extract the Hotfix after running the BWP Fixpack. This is because for some files the Fixpack copies rather than patches, so it could overwrite the newer files from the Hotfix. I should perhaps check, though, that the Hotfix includes any fixes already present in the Fixpack. Is this correct?

Sure, if you have a newer fix with the included BWP ones or better ones you can use/change/patch/copy or whatever you want to do with them. For example you can use a patch and after that use a hotfix.

@ Guest

I'm having a bit of trouble getting trough the installer. I have a fresh install of both BGI and II, with both expansions and the required patches. I have followed the instructions to the letter, but somehow the install.bat just stalls on me.

It is the same problem mentioned here. Please use this thread, where you find a solution to your problem.

@ dreamer2007

The bug is that after I meet him in Beregost and get the quest to help that woman- forgot her name- for 300 gp to kill those 3 guys, after I refuse and kill her, Garrick doesn't talk to me - "Garrick - has nothing to say to you". Normally he would have talked with me and joined the party from what I remember.

Is your problem still exist, please open a new topic, describe your problem again (or copy this one) and post your WeiDU.log. Thank you.

Greetings Leomar

I think this isn't true always: some fix may not work together. I can imagine a bunch of situation where 2 different fix are incompatible, for example:

A mod has a problem: Someone is not spawning because of a spelling error in the files. Lets say he is named "X" in the .bcs that spawns him but his .cre is named "Y"
Now somone release a fix that changes the name of the creature file to X.cre. (after applying this fix the creature will spawn)
In some other forum someone else releases a fix by editing the CREATECREATURE in the .bcs to Y. (also this fix works perfectly if you install only this)
Both fixes work, but if you instaall them together it doesn't :whistling:

The only way to do it is to manually uninstall the last mods one by one until you reach the ~SETUP-BP-BGT-WORLDMAP.TP2~ and then uninstall that too, so you can install it on the right language, then you can install the other mods back...

Hallo! The mod that keeps your BG items into BG2, which is in expert version, is buggy? Or just it was moved to expert because it's kinda cheaty?
And some items *like components for an epic armor construction* are moved somewhere to BG2 dungeon by BGT or they are lost?

jarno, i did not change anything, i did just run the .bat
so this might be something misconfigured?

oh, and a heads up, those expert mods that aren't expert mods according to the install.bat, are still as they were.
i.e. gray in the linklist, which means expert, but listed in the "won't install because you don't have it" from the standard install, while the other expert mods are not listed.

it seems that the candlekeep chores cause me a ctd...before it loads, i guess that would be a corrupt area file, but am not really sure, so i m asking. here.

Discordia, with 5.5.1 BWP version i have a ctb in candlekeep chores too. I had the ctb just when Gorion came towards me. One weird thing is that one of my NPC's was in Irenicus dungeon near the teleporters in the start area while my npc was in candlekeep as a child. But when i reloaded then i had not ctb and all gone fine. I tried it a third time and no ctb either. I guess it's a random ctb so try one or two times more.

the thing is...
i dont even get to the candlekeep chores. all i hear is the charname screaming (with screen blacked out), and then some text initiating the chores (back when you were more inexperienced, or something along those lines) and then the area load screen appears, but doesnt advance at all.

edit:
appearantly it didnt like my fixing attempts...now it crashes before it even starts...

i guess its time for another reinstall...at least this time with fixpack 6

@ Autar

I think this isn't true always: some fix may not work together.

Thanks for your explanation. You're right. So if someone wants to use more than one fix should know what he do. Others should wait for an updated BW Fixpack.

@ azgarth

there's a problem though, the worldmap is german.

This is a known bug with our older Install.bat.
Post #153 http://www.shsforums...&...st&p=427032
The fixed one is uploaded, but you have used the old one. Please follow Jarno's advice for reinstalling the Worldmap. If you want and need it, there is a component to keep your saves if you reinstall the Worldmap.

@ Silinde-Ar-Feiniel

I think you mean "BG2 SoA Item Import" and yes, you're right: It is in expert, because it's kinda cheaty. So it is not buggy.

Do you mean the golden panthalons? Yep, the golden panthalons from BG1 are transferred to BG2 if you have them in your inventory during the transition. You can find them in Irenicus Dungeon.

@ Discordia

For each new installation you should look if a new mod version is released, too. So you get all new updated things. Not the BW Fixpack only.

But consider that Unique Artefacts consider some of the items as second copies of the Items and may downgrade them.

Thanks Leomar! Yes, you were right, i meant the golden panthalons... :D

EDIT: @Autar, thanks for the info but Unique Artifacts isn't an expert mod? I'll stay to the BiG World version but maybe i'll run the expert install only to have this mod. I don't want other expert mods because they usually turn buggy... or there was a good reason they moved to expert anyway...
BTW, i'm not sure if i want to use it because it may boost my powers more than needed and that would ruin the fun of the game. I want something challenging... (that doesn't mean i am a masochist and wanna play with a cursed longsword -5 through the game lol)
Trough a test play in BG i find out that now it's very cool because it is quite balanced with better weapons and amazingly tougher enemies! :D

i figured i'd start with a bg1 campain, so i selected new game, not new bg2 game, made a character, but still ended up with a bg2 game.
i linked to my weidu.log earlier
why am i starting a bg2 game when selecting new game? and right now more importantly, how do i fix it?

But consider that Unique Artefacts consider some of the items as second copies of the Items and may downgrade them.

This is a reason why we have moved Unique Artifacts to the expert-version, now. This mod needs to be updated to work with all the new mods furthermore and for all, with the mods with upgradable items. At the moment Unique Artifacts is outdated, because of these problems. We hope that someone will update UA in the future. We like this mod and his function to balance a megamod.

@ azgarth

Have you reinstalled the Worldmap and installed the mods after the Worldmap again? Have you installed BGT-GUI with Elminster sword or staff again, too? Can you post your new WeiDU.log?

i decided to stick with german, so did no re-install.
i had chosen elminister with staff, and still have the original german map.
so my weidu log hasn't changed

edit:
okay, i see the problem now.
since i was playing on linux, i wondered if it DID work on XP, and it did/does.
same with the banters, on linux, some of the banters don't work properly, you just get something about wasting time with idle banter.
staying on XP fixes both problems.

unrelated edit to avoid double post:
it seems ilyich doesn't spawn in the second level after disapearing in the mousehole.
solution that seems to work is to just clua him; CLUAConsole:CreateCreature("DUECLA02").
is this with all BW installs? or just mine? not that much of a problem though, the clue is a decent fix.

edit related to previous unrelated edit:
it seems to have something to do with the game in easy mode
i put it back to normal mode, to avoind any more of such circumstances, though that of course does not fix what has passed already.

and another edit (are you guys getting as tired of this as i am?):
huh? turns out it DOES fix it, going back to floor 1 then to 2, spawns another ilyich, leaving me with two sets of acorns, i'll just take one.
bottom line: easiest way to fix it is to just set the difficulty away from easy, no CLUA.

According to Demivrgvs, Spell Revision's author, when he said 'install SCS Fiends Hot Fix after SCS' he meant
after SCSII. Thus the pdf recommends installing it in the wrong place.

Hi again - i didn`t have time to look on those topic or play BG for some time but it seems that i will have some now. And so i have few questions/requests :)
1. And probeably most important one - is there going to be another version soon ( asking only because i want to know if i should proceed with install now or wait some more time - really don`t mean to rush you)
2. Could you add some sort of description to each of the expert version mods/components regarding why are they grayed? Nothing really complicated only something like causes bugs, considered cheating or something like that. It would be very helpfull for people that would like to edit their installation :)

Hey I might have just come accross an error. I'm switching from BG to BGII right now. I uninstalled BGTMusic by hand and then installed the Nalia romance(well actually the one that has her last name in the title, but I forgot how to spell that). When I tried to start up BGII, the game wouldn't start as it was giving some error message. I eventually checked the songlist, and found these entries.

100 MxDwina MxDwina.mus
101 MYMUSIC j#blank.mus
102 KSONG j#blank.mus
103 Kiara MxKiara.mus

I shortened the list to be only go up to 99 and eveything fixed itself. I checked the post-installer and I didn't see anything to fix this. I suppose it is possible that I accidently edited out the lines of code in the installer that are supposed to fix this, but I still felt I should bring it up.

Heh, I asked that same question earlier. The answer I got was that it was in the plans for the future.
