Hurray! I just finished downloading all the mods I plan to install. I probably won't get around to it for another month unfortunatly(accursed school). Anyways, I wanted to ask for the reason that the following mods are listed as expert mode rather than normal mode:

6.4 Drizzt Saga
7.4 The Stone of Askavar
8.0 The Vault
12.3 Domains of Dread
13.1 Alex Macintosh
13.12 Improved Volcano! Pack
13.14 Munchmod
13.15 RItemPack
13.16 Rolles
13.20 The Unusual Oddities Shop
21.3 Sheena

Also I was wondering if there are any issues with 11.7 The Black Rose and 13.29 Selune's Armory beyond not being available anymore as I have copies of both, but if they have serious bugs I can skip using them.

Additionally, I saw in another thread that SCSII fixed some of the problems with Ascension, so I was wondering which components I need to make sure to install to get that fix?

And finally one more slight error in the guide that I noticed while downloading the files, there is no step/section 18.

I installed this and got it working fine, and it only took two hours! I followed everything in the regular version, except i added on Wild Mage additions and the Widescreen Mod. So far I have only run into one bug, and its Tiax.

Tiax is standing in the middle of Beregost, and when I got there there were no problems. I talked to Will Scarlet O'hara and did the Silkie quest, and then walked around a bit, and started to get messages that Tiax's inventory was full and he dropped an item on the ground.

By the time I got to Tiax he was standing on a huge pile of invisibility potions. Apparently he was making one every round, and kept on doing it until I added him to my group. I didn't even bother to count out how many potions he had after I had grouped 40 together. I left them lying there because that seems kinda game-breaking to have them or sell them.

Its not a game-stopping bug but it is kinda wierd. Why is Tiax crapping out so many invis potions?

Hi, I've been playing BWP 5.5 for the last week and am on the Bandits chapter in Baldur's Gate 1 and it's been really fun. So far, I've encountered three bugs. Don't know how I should go around solving them.

1.) Some NPCs, just continually drops an infinite amount of potions every second spamming my chatbox with messages like  "****'s inventory is full. Dropping items on tthe ground."  Right now this has only occured with Tiax who drops Invisibility Potions (the first time I met him in Beregost, stopped after I sent him to the Inn), Bassilus and Kahrk, who both drop potions of extra healing. Nothing gamebreaking but it's pretty weird.

2.) Whenever I get challenged to a duel, for example, the Gnoll in Cloudpeaks and Shar-Teel, before I even get to move my character I get automatically defeated right after I accept the duel.

3.) Probably the biggest one. Whenever I try to enter Firewine Ruins from either Firewine Bridge or Gullykin my game freezes up in a black after trying to load the map. It's could simply bypass the ruins, but I would like to get the Ancient Armor inside for the Vampiric Sword.

Final thing, if I uninstalled everything, then reinstalled BWP 5.5.1, would my BWP 5.5 saves be compatible?

I have the same problem with Tiax dropping infinite potions, and a friend of mine had the same problem too.

Thanks for your suggestions. But the most informations you get from our Linklist. The linklist is in german and in english, too and will be updated for each news. You can get informations there about Standard- (normal) and Expert-Mods (grey), the filenames and we describe special unpacking issues for the mods. But you're right and we can describe it better what's new in each BWP Version, so we want to do that.

"Breagar und die Schlangen Abbathors v3.2" is a very good BGT-NPC-Mod, but in german, only. Sorry, that we have forgot to make it grey in the guide, for english gamers. So, you can install this mod, if you understand german.

It is possible to use the fixpack without using the automatic installer though right?

Yes, you can use the BW Fixpack with or without our BW Installer. We recommended this for small installations only.

And what do you mean by copy/cut and paste between mod installation?


But that is the reason, why you should use the installer, if you want to do a mega modification. The BW Fixpack does the main patches for the mods, but some patches must be installed during the installation and therefore the Installer used patches of the BW Fixpack.

Wow, thanks for finding this out. So we know that we don't unpack these mods anymore and that we must handle these mods like the other NSIS-Installer. I've updated our Linklist for that. The following mods could loose files by unpacking, so better install these in a seperate folder and copy/move the files in the BG2 main directory:

- Xan's Friendship Path for BG1
- Dungeon Crawl
- Assassinations
- Xan NPC for BG2
- Alternate Xan Soundset for BG1
- Tiax NPC for BG2
- Romantic Encounters
- Nathaniel NPC

You're right with the english version of Thalantyr and we will change it. The german language option is right in v5.5.1.

The modder of this mod has removed his mod from the internet. The mod was not finished, so the mod will end abruptly. Additional the mod has small bugs.

All mods of category 12 are expert mods, because of their challanges and is recommended for experienced gamers only. All mods in this category except "CoM Encounters" are bugfree as far as we know and can be installed.

Many mods of category 13 are expert mods and this is a gamer desicion, because to much weapons in the game will overcrowd and unbalance it. All mods in this category except SPItems are bugfree as far as we know and can be installed.

13.14 Munchmod
Arkvisti the merchant shows up in each area (and that in BG1, too) and force a dialog with you. That is very nerving.

13.29 Selune's Armory

21.3 Sheena
Is normally a nice mod, but the romance with Mazzy is unstable and there is a high possibility, that the romance will not start. If you can live without the Mazzy romance you can install the mod.

Additionally, I saw in another thread that SCSII fixed some of the problems with Ascension, so I was wondering which components I need to make sure to install to get that fix?

Look for that in our guide or in the SCSII readme. All SCSII components which have to do with Ascension, fixes some issues. The mod "Wheels of Prohecy" makes the same and we recommended it for Ascension, too.

Yep, right. This was the section of the "Iron Modder Contest Mods" before. We will correct this in one of our next BWP releases.

Final thing, if I uninstalled everything, then reinstalled BWP 5.5.1, would my BWP 5.5 saves be compatible?

Unfortunately, no. But v5.5.1 has minor changes in the install.bat, so you need not to update.



@ Dropping Potions and Firewine Ruins bugs
These bugs are reported here and is caused by WeiDU:
Weird behaviour (crazy Cadderly)
Install Component [Potions for NPCs]

With the upcoming WeiDU v209 these bugs are gone. For now the easiest solution is to edit the Installer as follow:

Delete the component number 5022. For this case other changes are made in v5.5.1.

Also, when I installed the english version of BWP, I noticed that the Thalantyr Item Upgrade Mod inside the game is in French, I assume changing the 1 to a 2 would change it to english in the installer? I noticed that this wasn't changed with the new 5.5.1 install either.

Also would the new updated fixpack work with BWP 5.5? My saved games are 5.5 so I don't want to start over again with a new game in 5.5.1, but then again, I would like to take advantage of the new fixes.

seems to be dead.

also, both links of turnabout aren't silvered (expert), one has the beginning of the bbcode, but not the end, the other none at all, at the linklist.

finally a question, do i have to disable the expert mods in the auto install .bat?
i.e. delete everything related to ascension, since it IS in the list, much like i delete everything german/french/othernonenglish in it?

But that is the reason, why you should use the installer, if you want to do a mega modification. The BW Fixpack does the main patches for the mods, but some patches must be installed during the installation and therefore the Installer used patches of the BW Fixpack.

i'd give more information, but i wouldn't know what.

It's the WeiDU.exe's that's actually named as setup-*modname*.exe as they need an update, it takes a whole a lot time just 1 or few steps... the best solution would be to update them all before you run the .bat, but as it stands the installer gets over them in few minutes... 1 at a time. <_<

I'm another one who seems to be stuck on an infinite 'TP1 - CHECK press any key to continue' loop too.

I've been pressing space to continue for around 10 minutes now and all it does is go back to TP1 - CHECK. Am I being really dumb?

been alternately waiting/putting weight on spacebar/restarting the thing, nothing works.
i see files being created when i start the thing, and removed when i close it, but couldn't pinpoint which in the mass of files.

I have a question about 11.14. Sylmar Battlefield v1.025. Why is this mod considered to be in the expert version? Are there any bugs or incompatibilities?

Guest, I got the same thing when I tried to use the new BiG World Install v5.5.1.bat. I think I fixed it, but I'm not sure.

The TP1 - CHECK bit of the .bat file looks like this:

The last line of the code down there tells that segment of code to go right back to the beginning and do it again. That's why it keeps looping infinitely. Also, I don't even know what a TP1 check is because it looks like it is checking for Setup-TP.exe and I definitely have no file like that in my installation. Is this a mod I didn't download? the Tortured Picture?

At any rate, it looks like it should just go to the next section, which is :TOBCHECK. I changed the last line of that section, which is GOTO :TP1CHECK on line 425 to GOTO :TOBCHECK and ran the install, and it passed and went on to prompt me for later stuff. So I guess it works?

I'll let someone who is more familiar with the batch file to check my work.

I found out about the Sylmar Battlefield myself during installation... i noticed it scrolling by that there was an error with the installation of Sylmar Battlefield and install was being rolled back. Then installation continued as normal. I hope it doesn't screw anything up...

Also Amber the NPC mod was missing a file and rolled its installation back as well. I couldn't figure out why before it scrolled out of my sight.

Setup-TP.exe???

It's the German BG1 Textpatch (MK) Final-A, it's needed! For the German version. So download it, it's from here.
PS, I have never read German, and I can swear that this, "Der BG1-Textpatch ist noch nicht installiert. Bitte installiert." says that you need the Text pack. <_< :devil:
And this takes you further in the install if you have the component:
:TP1CHECK
%IF% "Baldur's Gate\Setup-TP.exe" GOTO :TOBCHECK

So it seems that if you have one or other mod, you might need the file Text Pack even if you use English installer. Or you do indeed need to edit the .bat file.
