so... is it actually BGT that's at fault here for not importing this file, or is it still a bug in Vault?toscst.2da is not imported by BGT therefore 'TextScreen("toscst")' will fail.

Now that you mention it, I do miss the good old "Welcome to the Tales of Sword Coast... " text screen.
Btw, there is one more serious bug with the Vault (also causes game to crash).
In the same file (AR7225.baf), there is this code:
IF OnCreation() Global("SarevokBehavior","GLOBAL",1) THEN RESPONSE #100 SaveGame(0) Continue() END
I noticed if SarevokBehavior = 0, no crash. If SarevokBehavior = 1, then crash. This happens only when TheVault is installed along with BGT.

Looks like this is due to the Continue() and the StartMovie() in the following block. Removing either will solve the issue.Btw, there is one more serious bug with the Vault (also causes game to crash).

But this block should be reworked anyway, since after loading the saved game it will simply save it again.

I'll take care of copying that file over in the .tp2

However, the BGT string could be attached to a text screen background ( the totscst.2da) and change the string refs to the BGT wording to make more sense in the BGT implementation rather than the generic mission pack/expansion only beginning.
Maybe that is what erebusant meant when he said he would add the function in the Vault.

I agree with Taimon because the original mission pack save screen says "You have been already equipped with a pre selected party" or something. The BGT intro string that displays in the combat dialog box changes to give more of a background and welcome to Ulgoth's.
I don't know if these problems are related but, once I talk to the Duke, and meet the fellow who steals/swaps the book outside.
If I let him steal the book, I follow on south and all the encounters happen and I do get the book back.
IF I take the phony book and go to Candlekeep, there's an encounter with three Ogre mages while Nandlin is standing there, he keeps approaching the party as if he wants to initate dialogue but says nothing, I try to talk with him, and get he has nothing to say to me. I even try to talk to him before the orges but in with their dialogue but can't get it to happen, orges always butt in.
I go up to the guard, and there's the option to say I have the book, here it is. Thing is that option appears twice. If I click the first one, he says I don't have the book. If you go back to Nandlin at that point he still has nothing to say. click the second option, same statement he says I do have the book, and lets me in. I did try to read up on it, and trying to find another Nandlin, I went to Bergost and tried Zurhlong, but all he does is pick my pocket. I guess he has a bug, where ( I Had boots of steath that were not his, having long ago returned his, and he'll take MY boots of steath, off my rogue even!). He just doesn't do anything. I go looking for Nandlin outside the Nashkel inn and of course he's not there, he's outside of Candlekeep with still nothing to say.
Sounds like there may be a bug in any case, and better to avoid this quest altogether? I'd hate to get to the end of BG 1 and the game is crashing. I could click the first option where I am let into the keep with the phony book. As it now stands I am playing through where I chased the book down and took it off the drow in the mines.
Yes the items/spells are way over powered, and I just bag them, and go on, however the mod is kind of well written and the slug fest not over long. I don't like the mobs that spawn in your face immediately entering an area, with no room to manuver your party, and seems like all the traps on the last level with the drow priestess for whatever reason, or almost all of them, cannot be disarmed even with Coran having maxed out skills in that, wearing some items that give bonuses and using thieve's potions, and they seem to fire off over and over and over again. But those short comings aside, it's pretty fun.
BTW
Where does "The Vault" quest start off, says it is more a mystery and thinking sort of quest even a lvl one party can do. I've never found the start of that one. And I know the "Return to Nashkel" quest is for a lvl 11 party, and will wait til after doing most or all of the xpac, but where or how does that one start. I've done all the other quests of this mod, as I said, on the whole, it's enjoyable, even with the flaws.

It looks like that no much gamers know something about the Vault to answer your questions or have the time to answer, yet. I've seen your questions about your problems in another forum, too. Be patient, perhaps someone can answer your question in the future.

But thanks for your long report, so we get an insight of The Vault.

I am crashing to desktop trying to enter the temple for the final fight.
IS there a fix and if there is exactly what do I need to do! I can't finish BG 1 as is. I saw a lot of discussion, but no fix for this in such a way that I understand what to do. As best I can tell there was discussion on two issues, one of this and one on Tales of the Sword Coast. Will porting the party to the area fix it, or do I need to set globals or what?
Please someone help me so I can play on, if possible. That it's the Vault doesn't help much now, what if anything can I do?

Can I ask for help here again please? I am no coder and still confused with what to do.
AS best I can tell from the posts the following is the problem and the block remover:
IF
OnCreation()
Global("SarevokBehavior","GLOBAL",1)
THEN
RESPONSE #100
SaveGame(0)
Continue()
END
Looks like this is due to the Continue() and the StartMovie() in the following block. Removing either will solve the issue.
But this block should be reworked anyway, since after loading the saved game it will simply save it again.
SO what I should do in Near Infinity is go to the appropriate area BCS, find the above entry then go to the entry following that and remove either the Continue () and or the Start Movie()? I know almost nothing about this stuff, by 'remove the block' you mean, delete out one or both of those two using NI?

Erebusant,
Just a quick post to say thank you very much for taking the time to point out exactly what I needed to do. I also wanted to let you all know that, I also wound up having to set that Sarevok global to 0 as well.
With just the above fix, the game would completely save, but then crash out again. I pretty sure it was crashing out after the save or right after it was done. For me, I found I had to do both. I hope this helps you all a bit, and once again, thank you.
One more quick thing, out of curiosity I decided to go back to the ducal palace as well, though I will go on to play tales of the sword coast, I wanted to see what happened.
The scene there starts up, all the bg 2 stuff, right to where one is cutting to the Irenacus dungeon. There was no Iomen, or scripted play through there, where she comes to your cage and where your character is being experimented on. I don't know whether that's supposed to be the case.
But the thing was, I was supposed to be alone, but I had had Gavin in my party at the end game of one, and so he was showing also, then the game promptly crashed out.
If I can be any help there let me know, I would think the obvious solution though, is to see the the guy at the Ducal palace, by one's self
