<snip>

I agree with Chevalier, players should consider the history and context of mods to appreciate (and have patience with) why they do what they do. There's a method to the madness, even if current generations think it's just madness.

Many mods could use an update in terms current expectations, imagine a "DSotSC Remix", but I hope the original version is maintained so that new players can see how the mod developed from the original author's ideas.

You can "speed-run" DSotSC by using a walk-thru. I like Skullcracker's version.

But this thread isn't a DSotSC rant or mod critique, we're trying to figure out the friendly, enemy Invisible Stalkers. Yes?

One thing I thought was really great about it, was being able to loot the drow armors and that off the dead and use it on my own guys, what a help that was! Nice also that's the only place you could use it. Chev you have a great point about the uber items and scrolls. They WERE useful down there, in two places, before you get the dwarf and the end fight, so good reason for them to be there! I agree, and kind of fun to use in truth, not something one sees at that lvl for BG 1 and using them did NOT reduce the tatical challenge. The most fun thing about all these mods, IMHO is the fights require much more thinking through and I really appreciate them from the POV. Up to the person IMHO to use common sense on using the stuff elsewhere. I never have had a problem myself with OP items, they're fun to look at and even carry around, if one finds regular content and mods too easy with them, easy to NOT use them. I have always loved getting collections! And I have a bag of holding devoted to that exclusive use.

I did not know this was the first mod for BG 1, a classic it is/was then. But I nearly broke down and wept when I found out, not going to exit quickly from the final battle, but stumble through even more caves. When asking about Dungeons and Dragons, and my least favorite part tho, it's always the dungeons part! Part of that is the AI, despite improvements, just makes it a chore. I did read actually about that maze in there, found it wasn't necesasary and ported the party to the next area, I just hate those narrow corridors. Story driven content is so much more fun to me. I found the Vault has a lot of pretty cool writing.. now if I can just find where those other quests are

Doesn't sound like Invisible Stalkers; sounds like Target(s), those semi-invisible, red-circled critters used by Big Picture (and only BP?) to aid enemy spellcasters with their targeting of spells.

Target(s) have a habit of not disappearing after a fight. I don't think Cntrl-Y gets rid of them. I don't know how to get rid of them once they're spawned.

I am almost positive these are not targets from BP. They expire via a global timer and are immune to everything including CTRL+Y. Slightly annoying when the party chooses to attack them and only them

Can anyone with this issue post a screen shot and upload into a post? Preferably one with the cursor over a creature where the tooltip (scroll with creatures' name) becomes visible.

Press the prt scrn key on keyboard to the right of the F12 key and a folder is created in BGII - SoA directory called ScrnShot with a Bitmap of the screen in game.

Sure thing Hoppy. I have a screen shot of my Nashkel stalkers that appeared after I cleared out the mines and fought the assassin (name?). I have now gone to Candlekeep and back and they are still there. They don't seem to have any time limit.

I did have the cursor over it but it didn't come through on the screen shot. It did say "Invisible Stalker", "uninjured". I tried twice :(

Hope this helps.

Ok thanks! Can you use near infinity and open up the CRE file for the mage guy that supposedly spawns those stalkers and check out his scripts? They may say something like BPMAG.BCS or ZHELTEN.BCS.

http://www.idi.ntnu....i/download.html

Also you may need shadowkeeper to find the exact creature file name.

http://www.mud-maste...eper/index.html

We will if we can spot what is causing this. Also where else does this happen in your game?

Sorry for the delay Hoppy, work has been keeping me busy and not allowing time for fighting the denizens of evil (or good if you prefer...) Damn 22 hour shifts. -_-

Anyway, does anyone remember the name of the mage who attacks the party upon returning to Nashkill from the mines? I am trying to find him from the list of hundreds of names with no success. I don't really want to start another game to learn the name. I will also be more diligent in continuing my current game for more occurances. I know that I have had at least 8 times that the stalkers have appeared.

Can you give us more information about him, like where he attacks you, what he says, was he one of the assassins, etc.

Here are some more informations about invísible stalkers.

Greetings Leomar
A Megamod does not mean that you can play all of the mods or all of their content,
but you have more choices or paths through the game.

Well, he attacks me right outside of the Inn in Nashkill. He is one of the assassins and has a letter on him stating that he is hired to kill me. He only appears upon returning from the mines after the iron ore quest.

His name is Nimbul and he is part of the unmodded regular portion of BG 1
