Alright, so I will start by saying I have the G3 fix pack, the Ascension Mod, Solaufein, the Solaufein flirt pack and Nathaniel (most recent) installed.

On my first play through with Nathaniel I did not have this problem, but using a different character (paladin), when Nathaniel starts the apology for freaking out over him being a Bhaalspawn dialog, the first part has a voice, then it cuts out, then BG2 locks up entirely. This has happened twice now, and starts as soon as he initiates the dialog.

What is going on?

Alright, a little update on the situation.

Now I cannot even get BG2 to work. As soon as I get to the screen to select SoA or ToB, click on SoA, then the program locks up. I have a feeling this is not a bug with Nathaniel, because just the other day, my Vista updated, and then this started, when it had not been happening before.

I'll see if I can fix it on my own, though any suggestions would be great.

Thanks!

Ok, I uninstalled all of my mods and BG2, reinstalled BG2, the patch, G3 fixpack, Ascension, Turnabout, Solaufein, Kelsey, the Banter pack, the flirt pack, and Nathaniel.  There is a new problem.  I can get BG2, SoA to work.  I still get the same lock up when the apology starts, however, Nathaniel's dialogue is completely messed up.

All it says (in green) when he talks to me is: "Oh, no, no, no, my child.  I do not doubt your words or your intent, but I had my chance at life.  An..." at that point it runs off the side of the dialogue box, and I can read no more.

I checked in my other save with Nathaniel, and now when I talk to him, or he talks to me, that is the only thing that shows up in the dialogue window, even though I can hear the voice saying something different.

This is really frustrating.  All I changed with the Nathaniel install was adding the Kelsey stuff and then doing the second instead of the third portrait.

Is this incompatibility, or something else?  I really enjoy the Nathaniel mod, but I am about to just uninstall it all together just to save myself the problems, then restart these two games.

(oh, and I tried installing Dungeon Be Gone, but it said a required file was not there, there was an error, and it would not do it.  Just FYI, 'cause that could be a possible issue too)

Sorry for continuing to update the problem.  I hope this is detailed enough that it helps. *headdesk*

Gosh, this sounds serious. Have you got the latest version of each of the mods? Did you try starting a new game after doing the clean install?

I have the latest version of each mod.  It looks like the Nathaniel file got corrupted somehow, and my saving on those games corrupted those.  When I reinstalled everything, and started a new game, it started working fine, but those two games were lost.  At least I got to export those characters.

However, I kinda wish I knew what went wrong, to be sure it wouldn't happen again.  BG2 hasn't crashed sense, so.....

At least it is working for now. *knocks on wood*

Ooooo, I wish I had heard about this a few months ago when I first put BG and BG2 on this laptop.

Thanks so much for that thread!  If ever I have problems again, and have to remove everything, I'm definitely redoing it that way.... because Vista really is being nitpicky.
