I don't know if this is a BGT prob or a prob with the BigWorld.  But when I get to the point where BGT is supposed to start installing, then it stalls.  I see the message:

Copying 1 file
Copying 1 file
patching...  etc...

then is shows

Copying 1 file

and nothing more.

I decided to let it go for a while in case it was a large file that was being copied.  three and a half hours later it had not changed.   Does anybody know if there is a fix for this, or is it a known problem.  I am using BGT 1.6 and need to know if there is a solution.  I will dup this message in the Mega install section JIC it is a BigWorld prob.  Please help me.

You actually did nothing... It's the confusion with BWP... You need to import(write) your Baldur's Gate 1 game directory...("c:\games\bg1" for example, with the quotes if you have spaces...)

I don't think that you understand. There was no way for me to type the directory. The message was copying one file and there was no blinking cursor, nor would any key that I typed show up. It was as if it froze. I waited for that time to see if I would get a cursor so I could type the directory for the BG1 game, but it never came. I will try again, and hope.

Devlinor

PS I read the thread from the saint, but the difference here was that I had no cursor at the bottom and nothing happened when I typed any of the keys.

Ok, I think I found the problem. (thank heavens for log entries). It seems that despite my turning windows auto update off and rebooting as I read I had to, Windog started to check for an update at the same time as BGT was ready to install. It must have started to download the blasted service pack 3 that I refuse to install. I will be trying the install again tomorrow (or later today since it is after midnight here in Chicago. I hate windows....

Devlinor

Oh, can I run the BiGWorld installation batchfile again? Will it pickup where it left off before the freeze? Or do I need to do another clean install. unpack the mods, fix the mods and then use the batch file again?

That would be the safer option... as I don't know.
But what you could do is to rename the auto installer's .bat file into a .txt file and open it with text editor, remove the code that leads to the installation of BGT: (snip from the expert version, what you need to remove)
IF NOT exist Setup-bg2fixpack.exe echo %MOD% bg2fixpack %NOTP%
IF NOT exist Setup-BDToBv166.exe echo %MOD% BDToBv166 %NOTP%
IF NOT exist setup-spell_rev.exe echo %MOD% spell_rev %NOTP%
IF NOT exist Setup-TTSQ.exe echo %MOD% TTSQ %NOTP%
IF NOT exist Setup-DarkRitual.exe echo %MOD% DarkRitual %NOTP%
IF NOT exist Setup-Oversight.exe echo %MOD% Oversight %NOTP%
IF NOT exist Setup-NeJ2Biffer.exe echo %MOD% NeJ2Biffer %NOTP%
IF NOT exist Setup-NeJ2.exe echo %MOD% NeJ2 %NOTP%
IF NOT exist Setup-BGTNeJ.exe echo %MOD% BGTNeJ %NOTP%
IF NOT exist Setup-NeJ2v602.exe echo %MOD% NeJ2v602 %NOTP%
IF NOT exist Setup-TDD.exe echo %MOD% TDD %NOTP%
IF NOT exist Setup-SOS.exe echo %MOD% SOS %NOTP%
IF NOT exist Setup-CtB.exe echo %MOD% CtB %NOTP%
rem IF NOT exist Setup-CtB-Chores.exe echo %MOD% CtB-Chores %NOTP%
IF NOT exist Setup-CtB_FF.exe echo %MOD% CtB_FF %NOTP%
IF NOT exist Setup-TS-BP.exe echo %MOD% TS-BP %NOTP%
IF NOT exist Setup-RoT.exe echo %MOD% RoT %NOTP%
IF NOT exist Setup-Ascension.exe echo %MOD% Ascension %NOTP%
IF NOT exist Setup-BGT.exe echo %MOD% BGT %NOTP% This mod however is necessary for the whole installation.

And manually install the BGT, and then run the auto-installer again, once it's renamed the altered .txt into .bat . So it's start's with:
IF NOT exist Setup-TxtMusic.exe echo %MOD% TxtMusic %NOTP%

Will give that a shot. I don't fancy the idea of another full install and all that unpacking again :crying: Thanks. I just might add to my sig how much I hate windows now. If I could find a way to do a mega install and get Linux to play nice, I just might be tempted to say bye bye to Bill Gates brain 'dead' child and go with the OS that Torvald worked on.

Thanks Jarno.

What I am going to try (later today, after a bit of sleep) I will load the batch file into my text editor, delete the stuff from just after the variables are set to just before the BGT install point. Then run it. If that works then I will post that here, just so all know. I finally got Windows auto update to shut up, and stay shut up. That and the fact that Avast found out that the Sims 2 Freetime installed Suck off rom in the root of my drive. I just was informed that Avast had removed it. So mayhaps that was the cause of my problems, or at least a good contributor to them. A root kit... OY.

Thanks,

I was not trying to cause any problems. I just didn't know if it was a Big World problem or a BGT problem. I had no idea that it was a possible problem of windows being stubborn, and a root kit. Thanks for moving this.

No worries. Glad to hear you sorted it out, and (hopefully) avoided any serious damage to your computer and files.

OK so far so good. I did the editing of the batch file like you said Jarno and it worked like a charm. I just forgot to un-rem the part that would install NTotSC, and added the Hidden Kits manually. So far I am in a game with a Cleric and just left CandleKeep. I will post periodically so I can report any glitches asap. So far (knock on wood - IE my head) everything is humming nicely.

PS BIIIIIIIIIIG thanks to you Jarno, and a BIIIIIIIIIIIG thanks to Leonardo Watson for the work on the big world project.

Danke, Mein Friend. (I do hope that I Spelled that right, but I don't think so.)

 Thanks, I have not used (even my limited) German in over 37 years so it is quite rusty.
