okayi'mfairlycertainthisisit. I have a feeling I should keep this separate from the main installer because it's, well, 32 MB (lucky, aren't I?) just for this.
I didn't have time to test and take real screenshots for the last few, but I hope Photoshop images will do (and if I didn't mess up, they look exactly like the in-game images anyway!).* For pretty much the same reason I'll try and keep this short (sorry, no rambling this time
).
* incidentally yes, this means these have never been loaded by a game. I might have messed something up (an offset mayhaps) but I hope not anyway. In any case there shouldn't be anything dramatic as I haven't been doing anything differently and so far things in this thread have always not-catastrophically-failed. I also know how to test these without a game, so bah I say. Bah.» Download 1pp avatar fixes «(
yes, it's
WeiDU and it even has a hypertext readme, not that you'd ever know)
NEW IN THIS: (it includes all the others, as well)Elven female with leather armourI don't know why, but it seems like for the leather armour someone really liked *a lot* of shoulder padding. It was on practically all of those animations in the game. This one was also a bit of a mess, as well (take a look at the skirt). So here's no more miscoloured pixels and some nicer shoulder guards for you.
» Click for images «Elven female cleric with plate armourFixes some miscoloured (black) pixels on the back of the legs, and adds chain-mail to them.
» Click for images «Elven female fighter with plate armourThis one was actually very nice as it is, so I've not really changed anything except adding some chain-mail (I really do love it
).
» Click for images «Elven male with chain-mailIf you've successfully recovered from your double take, like whoa, yes, apparently I can edit male animations as well.
Bye bye, sexist controversy!
If you've seen the original animation (haven't we all?) you'll have noticed.. an... um, dare I say it... suspicious lack of chain-mail? It's like leather armour, take two, which I guess it probably was in the development studio. Which is nice, but rather unfortunate if you don't want to wear leather armour but chain-mail.
» Click for images «Human male with leather armour... when I meant 'a lot' of shoulder padding, I meant, like, HUGE. I understand, big shoulders are so manly rawr, but these are not big shoulders, they're swimming aids. Seriously. A little inappropriate for a high fantasy world, I believe. I'm sorry, I can't romance a guy with a sword wearing swimming aids, I'm afraid the suspension of disbelief is a little too much for my poor brain.
» Click for images «Human male with chain-mailHave I mentioned I love chain-mail? No, seriously, I remember playing Baldur's Gate I and having an unhealthy obsession with enemies wearing it. The talons (I hope that's right?) you met outside the Cloakwood mine made my heart melt each and every time. I felt so sorry to kill them! So when I played TuTu years later I found myself really missing something and for the longest time couldn't put my finger on what it was.
It was, of course, guys in pretty chain-mail (trying to kill me, but still pretty).
» Click for images «Fixed female halfling progressionThis could be best described as the return of the suspicious-lack-of-chainmail syndrome, but it's more than that, really. From what it looks like, the entire animation series got shifted by one - the chain-mail animation is what should have been the leather animation, the leather animation is what should be the unarmoured one, and the unarmoured one is... something?
It's something no more, I'm afraid, as I got rid of it. Instead, I've added a
proper chainmail animation (and the two previous were matched up with their intended use). This is probably the biggest change I've done to any single avatar series.
I know this will be really confusing to some of you, but it's quite simple really. Don't let these images confuse you:
» Click for old/new progression comparison «» Click for images «Dwarves with chain-mailI know I know. Sadly there's nothing I can do about the male and female dwarves sharing their animations but you know I still do love chain-mail.
» Click for images «As always all of the above come with paperdoll images where necessary. Due to popular demand, the halforc paperdolls of the male kind were radically (yeah I'm looking at you) reworked in five minutes! But!
This also includes - and this is a first - 1ppv3 paperdolls for dwarves. Yes, it's only the chain-mail ones (ahaha I find this far too amusing) with this and no, sorry, the others aren't quite done yet. I'll update the stand-alone paperdoll files when I have them, hopefully (full series of the dwarves and fixed halforcs). But these are here right now. For male and *gasp* female dwarves. I really loved making these and I rather like how they turned out. So don't make fun of them.
Breaking the simplistic layout of this post, here are all the included paperdolls:»» Click here for a zoomed-in view ««And because it's fun,
click here to see the female dwarves with their original counterparts, also known as 'why twelve and a half colours look nicer than two hundred fifty six'.
Download link again in case you missed it earlier:
» Download! «*edit*: Okay, I've updated the paperdoll thingy with what's here for now. Click
here to get it. It's also (finally) OSX friendly, so no more crashes hopefully.
Happy holidays from 1pp, also known as me.
