As stated above, game CTD's entering AR7615. It crashes immediately upon clicking the stairs. I have uploaded my weidu log. I tried to CLUA to the area and the same crash occured. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

edit:
I started a new game and CLUAed right to AR7615 and it still crashed. I am thinking that perhaps there might be an incompatibility caused by one of the 'tougher iron throne' settings?

Start by using Near Infinity to verify you have AR7615.ARE, AR7615.WED, AR7615.TIS, AR7615.MOS, AR7615LM.BMP, AR7615HT.BMP, & AR7615SR.BMP in your game.

Check. I am assuming by verify you mean open the CHITIN.key file and see if each of those files mentioned are present. First time using Near Infinity, so I want to be sure I am doing this correctly. I did find each of those files. Is there something else that you can suggest?

Enable logging (Put Logging On=1 in baldur.ini under Program Options), reproduce the crash and post the contents of baldur.err here.

Posted. It says that I am not permitted to upload this type of file when I select the baldur.err file, so I posted the baldur.log file instead. There is nothing in the .err file anyway, just start logging and the rest is blank.

Just rename the extension for uploading. Can't really help if there's nothing in there. (A "normal" area crash should definitely log some assertion.)

I guess I have tried it four times here, the loading area screen does not come up, it just crashes. The renamed .err log is attached. Is this area required for me to continue on to Candlekeep? And if so, is there some global setting I can change to continue?

edit:
Could someone post what Near Infinity contains in the AR7615 for their game? I have 4 containers, 3 points of interest: two Door7614, and one Door7621; and the actors, Aasim, Alai, Body of Emissary Tar, Diyab, Emissary Tar, Gardush, Naaman, Thaldorn, and Zhalimar Cloudwulfe.

When you open Near Infinity you should get a display that looks similar to Windows Explorer. Look in your OVERRIDE folder, your BMP folder and your MOS folder and your TIS folder and your ARE folder for those particular files. Your chitin.key file will have the references to the .bif that contains but if the bif is missing, or the area got modded and then the file was somehow deleted, you'll CTD.

I believe that all of those files are there, i did find them. Is there something else it could be?

edit:
I am thinking that because I have all of the required map files, the problem is maybe with a creature that is created in that area? I have a couple of mods that change the creatures in that area, specifically any of the AI mods SCS 1 and 2. I just read that The Vault also changes the enemies in that room, could that be causing the problem? Or, because the game crashes immediately, does that mean that there is a problem with the area?

Berelinde collected some very good information regarding CTDs in this thread. As it's an immediate black screen of death, it is a corrupted creature in the .are file. But it could also be a corrupted creature which is spawned by the area script.

@ vandalt/wiecha
If it's not too much of a problem for you, try to track down all the creatures which are already in AR7615.are or are spawned by it's area script AR7615.bcs with Near Infinity. If you can't view them in Near Infinity or if they have something like the creature-file in the second thread I linked to, you probably have the culprit for your CTDs.

If you don't want to re-install you could fix them yourself if you know how or upload them here in the forum. Another option would be to search for the problematic .cre file(s) in your BGII folder and try one which is located in a mod's backup folder. If this .cre file has no problems you can copy it into your override folder. But before you do that make a backup of the .cre file located in your override folder just to be on the safe side.

But bear in mind that if you use a creature file from a backup folder, all the changes the corresponding mod and every other mod which you installed afterwards did to it won't be there anymore.

yes, I can but i don`t know which one because when i use search engine I can find five Zhalim.cre files in my bg2 folder in five different subfolders:

E:\baldur2\xpmod\backup\1
E:\baldur2\uniqueartifacts\backup\2
E:\baldur2\BPv177\BACKUP
E:\baldur2\vault\CRE1
E:\baldur2\planarspheremod\over.bak

so I don`t know which one is the correct one, or perhaps it`s all the same ???
I`m quite noob in this all modding stuff so... :)

I`ll upload this one with the newest modification date

Could you also upload the other Zhalim.cre files, your WeiDu.log and export Zhalim.cre with Near Infinity and upload that too?

Oh yeah, I remember now. This is The Vault corrupting Zhalimar because it uses EQUIP on items which are not in any weapon slot. I think erebusant knows about that one.
If you want to fix the CRE, simply put 0 in the selected weapon slot. (All the way down on the Edit page in NI.)

Actually it has nothing to do with using EQUIP on the item, however I'll figure out a workaround and release a new .tp2 in a couple of days.

It was Zhalimar for me as well. I just created everyone else but him in a different area and avoided that room completely. But then the next time I had to go through the area to find Cythandra he was still in the room. So I created her in a different area as well. For situations where an area doesn't load properly, I find it easier to use Near Infinity to look at who is supposed to appear in that area and then create them in a different area.

Open the exported CRE above in Near Infinity and check the selected weapon slot near the bottom of the Edit tab. It has a 4 there, which is illegal. It should be 0. (The first weapon slot.)
I'm quite sure this is cause by the EQUIP in REPLACE_CRE_ITEM. (In conjunction with the wrong item type like quiver.)
ADD_CRE_ITEM actually checks if the item is a candidate for being selected (equiped), but sadly REPLACE_CRE_ITEM does not. (will most likely be done in WeiDU v209)
