No Dialogue, BG1

I was just recently able to install BGT onto my computer, and things appeared to be fine. . .for a time. And then I noticed no one is talking, at all. NPCs will not talk to NPCs, or the PC. The only forms of dialogue that work are with random people, or quest-initiated. Joining and exiting dialogues also work fine, but nothing has happened in between. It is Chapter 3, and I am nearing the bandit camp. You'd think at least one Jaheira-Khalid dialogues would be triggered, but, no such luck.

Has anyone had this problem before? Is there any way to force everyone to start talking? Or, better yet, a way to fix this problem?

Stuff I have installed:
BGT
Ease-of-Use BG1
BG1NPC Pack

P.S. I have tried setting global timers to force talks, but those aren't helping. At least where Xan is concerned. I haven't tried on anyone else. And I don't feel like forcing every dialogue by setting globals.

Make sure you have patched BG:TotSC to version 5512, and BG2:ToB version 26498 before installing any modifications.

I installed them first thing before downloading BGT. Did I have to download them again afterward? Was that a step I overlooked?

What, you used a moded BGI in BGT, it's no good. The BGI+TotSC+patch needs to be unmoded!!! And the BGT might also have it's own versions of those mods, so use them!

Very strange. Are you getting lots of 'X has nothing to say to you' when you try to talk to them?
Which edition of BGI and BG2 are you using?
Do you have any problems with a BG2 game?

Try BG2 Tweaks at gibberlings3.net instead of BG1 Ease-of-Use. It includes the same stuff, and I've seen some odd things reported lately with Ease-of-Use (surprised anyone's still using it, really).

Ascension: No. The talk icon is disabled on my party in general. Occasionally Branwen will say "I have nothing to say to any of you." In blue. I am using Baldur's Gate: The Original Saga for BG & BG:TotSC. As for BG2, I am not sure which edition. But I haven't been playing it. I probably will, and when I do, I'll get back to you on whether or not dialogue occurs.

Hmm, a disabled talk icon is very strange indeed. I have no idea what would cause that (apart from not patching the game correctly).

Yeah, I'll click on the talk icon and it'll only turn that active gold color on quest NPCs, random NPCs, or NPCs for their joining dialogue. That's more or less it. I may have to remove BGT and reinstall it.

NPCs not involving their joining dialogue. If I am talking to an NPC for the first time, and they join my party it works. Inter-party banters are not occurring. Nor are any of the NPCs in my party are talking to me. I know this is the problem, because before I installed BGT, and was playing a game (which I deleted and made a new one after installing BGT), Jaheira and Khalid were chatting it up. They haven't done that once. It's as though, as soon as they (the NPCs) join my party, they are silenced.

Can you post the textual contents of your WeiDU.log? In BGT, I don't believe there any PC-NPC banters nor are their many NPC-NPC banters. A mod called BG1NPC Project adds a whole bunch of banters. I suspect you don't have this mod installed.

I did install that mod. That is part of the reason I am so irked. I went through the installation of BGT in order to get the mod, that, and the Gavin Mod, to find that either it, or BGT, removed dialogue entirely from NPCs.

There is the possibility that it's the Ease-of-Use pack causing the problem. But I didn't think it was considering I had it before BGT and NPCPack and dialogue still occurred. (Of course I reinstalled the games for BGT, to make sure everything was clean, but, when I was just using Ease-of-Use alone, it was fine).

What Ease-of-Use pack have you used? It hasn't appeared in your WeiDU.log. It is certainly possible that there is a compatibility conflict, which would explain why having Ease-of-Use mutually exclusive with these other mods gave you no problems.

Probably applied it to BG1 before the BGT conversion.

This looks like Baldur's Gate. I can't remember having this "blue" thing in the BG II game engine (I assume you mean the circle on the ground).

Are you using the Baldur's Gate executable? Since you can only have Jaheira and Khalid in a standard Baldur's Gate game without BGT, your description makes me thing you're still using the Baldur's Gate game after installing BGT. To use BGT, you need to run the Baldur's Gate II game. Otherwise you just get the typical Baldur's Gate game, so no banter, except for the rare reaction between members.

Please forgive me if I misunderstood what you said and suggested this basic thing about how to run BGT.
