I want to try my hand in modding, though it would be completely new experience to me. I'm a total lame in this affair, so I need some advices for good start.

I was searching for a good tutorial for making spell mods, but I couldn't find anything. Only some threads for a bit more advanced modders. :( So I have a little request: do you know where I can find a good and easy tutorial for making spells? With such advices as: what programms or tools would I need? how to define if the spell would be used by mages or clerics or druids? how to make it memorizeable spell or special ability? how to edit creature that is summoned? etc. generally how to make it step by step. I'm especially interested in tips for summoning creatures spells (something like 'summon familiar' spell), if it'd make it easier.
I AM DEATH, NOT TAXES. *I* TURN UP ONLY ONCE.

All you need is DLTCEP, the IESDP, and some common sense. (NI will work too, but DLTCEP is likely to be more intuitive for users familiar with Windows). Open and examine some of the existing spells that have effects similar to what you have in mind, see how they did things, and look the relevant formats (mainly SPL and EFF) up on IESDP if you need more information. If you have specific questions after experimenting a bit, I or someone else can help with them.

"Tyranny is a quiet thing at first, a prim and proper lady pursing her lips and shaking her head disapprovingly, asking, well what were you doing (wearing that dress, walking home at that hour, expressing those inappropriate thoughts) anyway? It's subtle and insidious, disguised as reasonable precautions which become more and more oppressive over time, until our lives are defined by the things we must avoid. She's easy enough to agree with, after all, she's only trying to help -- and yet she's one of the most dangerous influences we face, because if she prevails, it puts the raping, robbing, axe-wielding madmen of the world in complete control. Eventually they'll barely need to wield a thing, all they'll have to do is leer menacingly and we fall all over ourselves trying to placate them." -godlizard
