In truth, it's her helmet what seems weird to me
Yeah. Well one thing is she's got it skewed to one side which isn't really that feasible. I tried a few other helmets, including the one in her default portrait, but they all look kinda funny to me.
I guess she could go helmetless, but that was the one gimmick I had for giving her some resemblance to the old portrait.
I like the new Branwen, but her septum looks a bit too narrow to me.
That was intentional, since it was way too wide for my liking originally, but maybe I overdid it a bit. Here's a slight re-edit (before on the left, after in the middle):
Also the purple edit on the right before I started messing with her features. I don't like it, but maybe it's someone's cup of tea.
I think I like the second to last one best, but I do agree that the bright purple cloth at the bottom tends to pull the focus down, away from her face.
Agreed - I've darkened it and tried to match her default minor colour. There seems to be no real consensus on her portrait, but people seem to be leaning toward the last two, so I've based two edits off those.
I've personally always loved Dynaheir's original portrait. It's got movement and emotion and is at a wonderful angle, artistically speaking. It reminds me of this picture from Aida by Seattle Opera:
Yeah, I don't hate it, but she's not singing or anything. She looks more like she's extending her hand and saying, "Here, minion, you may kiss my ring," or something. Just looks a bit too aloof for my conception of her.
Dynaheir is light skinned to begin with
Between her avatar skin colour, her original
BG1 portrait (before
BG2 lightened everything) and the description of Rashemi, "light skinned" doesn't exactly come to mind, unless you're comparing her to what Viconia should look like
.
Somebody needs to make mod out of this, but please make it so we can choose which to replace.
Of course I'm making a mod of it, the code is the easy part
. If I've changed their colours, the code will also change the
NPC's avatar/paperdoll to the proper ones. And I suppose it's inevitable each
NPC will have to be a separate component, since everyone has their preferences.
With her darkened skin, Viconia is kinda hard to make out spot in her dark new clothes.
Well, she's a drow priestess of Shar, what did you expect?
I do have some earlier edits where she's lighter, like this one on the right (original one I posted on the left):
I dunno, she just doesn't look drowish enough for me with lighter skin. Her avatar has something in this range, which would probably go with either portrait (but probably closer to the darker one):
The rest of her robes could be a tiny bit brighter too, it's a bitdifficult to see any details ATM.
Yeah, I guess it should match something in this range, her existing major colour.
(Phew... if I thought I was sucking up bandwidth before, I hadn't seen nothin' yet...)
