Right now I have Edwin in my party, because I'm trying out the Edwin Romance mod.  But evil characters won't stay in the party after the rep hits over 18.  I was fine for a while, but I had to raise my reputation quickly by use of the temple donations to avoid one of Jaheria's Harper friends from attacking.

Right now, I'm at 16.  I don't know about killing commoners(since that always causes a riot for me).  I don't want to keep Viconia for this play-through, and I'm trying to avoid evil paths in quests(so I can keep everyone in my party).

Is there any easy way to lower reputation without going overboard?

Change into the Slayer. That costs two reputation points. You can do it any time without killing anyone. Of course you need to have done Spellhold to become the Slayer.

You should be able to charm commoners, lead them to a secluded spot and THEN kill them. (It works in BG1, at least.) Unfortunately, there's no other reliable way to decrease rep until late-game. I think there may be a quest or two that can result in a -1 or so, but nowhere near enuogh.

I suppose someone could make the BG1 NPC "Rep Mod" component available for BG2...

Of course there is the very easy way to control Reputation if you don't mind a bit of cheating -- use Shadow Keeper. Set Rep to whatever you like. Change it for the main character and the Rep for the entire party is adjusted automatically.

Personally I'd rather use Shadowkeeper than kill Mrs Smith, the friendly neighbourhood grocer.

Well, I heard that you can lower your reputation with the "Bardic reputation adjustment for BG2" -component in B!tweak mod installed.

Deactivated account. The user today is known as The Imp.

There is also that quest for the pantaloons that will lower your rep a wee bit if you do it

So someone's already ported the BG1 NPC rep mod component. Why wasn't I informed, and why isn't it enshrined here amongst the likes of Lucy the Wyvern?
