I like BG series as it is... I really love infinity engine and I can't imagine playing BG series in different engine! A couple of ppl have made BG1 as nwn1 and 2 mod. I've played it and I have to say, although they've done fantastic job, it just doesn't feel right IMO.

O_o you mean they've actually finished that? Okay, that means I have to go buy NWN right now. Do you have the download link?

No, no. Not whole game. But they've made prelude of BG1 for both NWN1 and NWN2. Here you go:

Cool. I hear they're going along pretty far in the full conversion though. I checked the forums and saw that they were calling for 3-D modelers. So I PM'ed the guy in charge. I've been an animation student for 3 years now and I'm actually pretty good at 3-D CGI models.

No BG3 thank you. It would use the lamest system ever, 4th edition rules and setting, plus it would use 3D. Thanks I like good old 2D and AD&D rules.

We don?t need BG3 because one of the biggest disappointments in life is watching something you love being bastardized.
We fell in love with the charming and the detestable characters. We love their individual dilemmas and flaws, complete with their own quests and goals. We sank into the world of Faerun itself and pondered our own choices, whether in conversation selections or how we completed quests. We enjoyed 2nd edition. We felt accomplished when we leveled, or when we found a new spell. Nothing would bring me more sadness in gaming than to see another great game's memory tainted. I say, leave it alone. The ending left me fulfilled. When nostalgia creeps in, I miss the characters and their world, and I return frequently. But we do not need a third BG; we need a new world, akin to our old one, to lose our senses in.

*Shrug* After the stupidity of ToB (rather, the laziness of it), if they were to put real effort into a BG3, I think I'd still play it...but I'd prefer a sequel over a prequel.

I agree with most of what has already been said. We don't need a BG3. The whole point of the BG series was being a Child of Bhaal and struggling with life, bandits, illithids, drow, and whatever else life threw at you, as you came to grips with your heritage, fought to defend i from an evil elven madman, and then struggled to either claim or get rid of said heritage.
The story is ended, the cycle has been completed, it's done, it's finished, no matter how unsatisfactory we found ToB, the story is said and done.
We can't add anything else, and I sure don't want to go adventuring with the PC's children!!! :D

While having a continuation of the story would be nice, I still think BG 3 wouldn't work. Throne of Bhaal finished off the whole story nicely, so why bother making a third game that might possibly ruin this perfect story. It's like telling a story, and after the "And they lived happily ever after" (or similar ending that wraps up all strands of the tale), suddenly add some details that might not really be all that relevant (or else they would have been included in the original story). I'm not saying that the extra details would be bad, but they would be better off being told as a separate, unrelated story.

So what *I* want is a game *like* the Baldur's Gate games. I am happy with how the Baldur's Gate series went and ended - it's a perfect example of how a story should be told. So instead of a third game, I just want another game that tells its story just as perfectly and without footnotes at the end that go and spoil that happily content feeling (and also the feeling of emptyness, because now that the story is over, something seems to be missing. It's a sign of a good story, to get that feeling at the end of it.). Unless they have a good plot that makes *sense* to add at the end, and to give it the name "Baldur's Gate 3". Unless they have *that*, they should leave the whole thing alone - or we'll have something like "Dark Alliance" all over again.

I agree with the fact that the Bhaalspawn story is done - except on one note: those cowled figures at the end movie of SoA, who are they? What did they want with the spawn of Bhaal? And why show them at all?

That is one plotline I felt didn't receive much deserved attention when I first played ToB, and I still do to this point feel the same way. Either way, to add them in now would be a sure mistake on any writer or developer's hands. (I know I might even regret saying that someday) :)

But essentially, the title Baldur's Gate isn't entirely about the Bhaalspawn, or his/her companions/siblings/rivals etc etc - whilst Dark Alliance didn't quite deliver what was wanted, there is still plenty of material in which to pick up on which involves the city.

For example - think of the political nature Baldur's Gate would be caught in, they're a member of the Lords Alliance, and therefore have many enemies mostly the Zhentarim but also Thay, Luskan (whom they also rely on imports from surprisingly) and Amn.

Essentially, Baldur's Gate itself would remain open to new plotlines, but the Bhaalspawn saga is pretty much ended given the somewhat open-ended nature ToB closed on - of course if a loophole is discovered, it can be exploited - but the PC of BG1 and BG2, is essentially sealed to his/her fate.

We can't add anything else, and I sure don't want to go adventuring with the PC's children!!! :D

Aw, now my SoC fiction is all heartbroken. Oh well.

And no, this isn't an advertising attempt - if it was that, I'd have a monkey with a banana, and some christmas trees singing "waltzing on the moon" until I decided to sack them and replace them with Oogie Jr. :D

I'd completely forgotten about the Portentous Men wearing Cowls of Doom and having Floppy Wrists of Death from the end of SoA. Does anyone know who the hell they were? Was one of them Mellisan pre-op?

At First I thought for a second they were the 6 people in the council of Amn but I noticed there were at least 7 maybe more when the movie ends so there is no way it could be them

I thought they might be other Bhaalspawn getting ready to gang up on Charname. Maybe one of them is Balthazar, lurking in the background. They look like monks.

I always thought pretty much as Scippy did.

For my PC, a sequel would pretty much consist of her and Anomen having lots of sex in between small quests all over Faerun. Sounds like the makings of a bad porn movie.

The PC's name must be Debbie, then. I tried to meet her in Dallas but couldn't find her.
