Fixing BG1 ending for a newbie

I have the problem of killing Sarevok in the final battle, and then being stuck in the Temple of Bhaal. Apparently, Sarevok is meant to say something before being killed in order to be able to get out. I've tried to follow the thread below that addresses this problem, but I got lost... :wacko:

I'm not familiar with coding, and am new to modding. Is there an easier way to solve the problem? Or could somebody give me a set of instructions on how to fix it? I'm sorry for any inconvenience this might cause.

By the way, I used the SMM Auto Installation for my mod.

If you post your sarevo.cre here, I'll see if I can fix it for you. (Look in the override directory of your installation to find sarevo.cre.)

I just killed Sarevok again, and it worked perfectly! Sarevok said his speech, the movie plays, and then I'm able to get out of the temple. Thank you so much for taking the time to help.

Hi, sorry to necropost this, but i'm having a similar problem to Archangel. Unfortunately the fix that Taimon has posted has no effect for me. The last speech Sarevok gives is the one about stripping his acolyte-shields, then he's promptly slain, and it cuts straight to the credits after his death animation.

If you want to simply work around it, just use the CLUAConsole and the following line after Sarevok mysteriously dies when he shouldn't:

CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("SarevokBoutToDie","GLOBAL",3)

No luck, I'm afraid. He dies at the appropriate time, he just doesn't give any speech on his death, which i understand is supposed to contain the trigger. Also, loading the Final Save after I kill him and go through the credits doesn't give me any interface, it's like it's been removed for a cutscene but I can move around.

Errant's game is either Tutu or straight-out BG1. Not BGT-related in anyway.

Heh. The wonders of google, I guess. Searching for "unable to leave Sarevok's Temple" turned up that seven-page thread about it which didn't help me a great deal, then a random trawl through the board found this thread. *shrug* Assumed that since the same error existed regardless of whether I had BGT installed or not, the error was universal and you might have a solution. Anyhoo, sorry to have wasted your time.
