Well, you could dig into Unearthed Arcana and have mentioned the environmental and elemental subraces for elves and dwarves, but I'm not sure if they count.

What intelligent races are being given short descriptions by a harried DM below.

You do know that some of us have no access to the PbP section of these forums and so have no way of conforming the facts. :P

:D

You should hear some of the ways I've described various critters. Though they aren't all me. One's a direct quote from the game I was playing in last week.

Like RPGs? Like Star Wars? Think combining the two would be fun? Read Darths and Droids, and discover the line "Jar Jar, you're a genius".

These, in the day when heaven was falling,
The hour when earth's foundations fled,
Followed their mercenary calling
And took their wages and are dead.

This and more legends on Gnomes are to be found here.
I required the net, as I knew another myth in which The Sparkling Wit (= Garl Glittergold) found the Gnomes in a cave, which he told a joke and than lead outside, hence their name: The Forgotten Folk. A version that is not even related on the site above, but of course I can not refind <_<
Even more Gnome stuff as I know Scipio loves this

Thanks! I was completely stumped by the gem question. Those references will be very useful.

Your welcome, and so know that in some legends they did not come from gems.
And more references are possible ;)

I'd just like to point out there's a resource online that has the answers to all of today's questions in the same paragraph. :)

I don't even get that far! By the time I see the questions, you experts have already answered them. This is all wonderful for me because this whole thread is my basis for future learning. So thanks, all!

Here's one that I didn't use today.

Elans. Elans are born to normal humans as the good half of a pair of identical twins. Invariably, one of the twins becomes an evil mastermind. The Elan, conversely, becomes a good-hearted but rather stupid hero. They favour keeping company with heroes, though it is quite common for those heroes to regret this. An Elan can live their whole life without noticing thinds that are obvious to everyone around them, because Elan is sustained by the power of stupidity. While generally ineffective, a rare Elan may gain a certain amount of power. At this point they express one of their core beliefs, "With moderate power comes moderate responsibility." If an Elan grows a goatee, smack them round the head for impersonating their evil twin.

Back from the brink.

Sad part is, Elans are an actual race. :) +5 points for the OotS joke.

Part of what makes it fun.

I'm going to have to see about creating an Elan bard with Intelligence and Wisdom in single figures. Or perhaps an NPC.

Due to circumstances Bluenose knows I will probably not participate to heavy in this new round.
May we have the in-between scores of the races questions Bluenose?

Is there a problem with people being away and unable to answer the questions, or is there a problem with the questions themselves? I'm going to wait to post for a while to see if there's any answers.

All of the forums have gone very quiet. It must be exam time for many members. Maybe you should consider putting the whole quiz on hold for a couple of weeks!

I am still using the quiz for education, not to show how brilliant I am (I wish). All I can do is use Net references to look up the same answers the other guys have already given.

If you'd like to send me the extra info you mentioned you had for some questions, I'd be happy to finish editing the master document of all your questions and answers so far. We could put it on the Wiki and invite comments. This would justify a break in the quiz. My unedited Word file of everything thus far comes to 15 pages.

You've been working your butt off on this one!

I've a valuable excuse why I am slow as you know, and that excuse is going well ;)
Still I can answer most of these questions without too much difficulty, at least up to this point.

Just to put another slant on things, it seems a typical thread in any of the forums gets about 200 readers, with far fewer responding. This thread has been going for seven weeks and has been viewed nearly 1,400 times, so it's as popular as most other threads among readers.
