Hard to pick just one. My favorites are Ajantis, Dynaheir, Garrick, Imoen, Kivan, and Minsc.

This is a ridiculously hard choice to make, for me. Alora, Imoen, Coran, Skie, Garrick, Jaheira, Khalid, Dynaheir and Branwen are all so wonderful. I'm not sure I can bring myself to actually choose.
Oh, alright. It's Skie. She's hilarious, got so much potential for development (even with the NPC project), is completely overlooked by most and is so wonderful in so many ways. I think she's fantastic. Something tells me she might not win this poll, however.

I clicked Jaheira before I realised it was BGI. Otherwise it would probably be Xan. He is just perfect
EDIT: well, he doesn´t have MM and Fireball, so not perfect. But still as close as they go and I ain´t changing him for some pansy invoker either ;-)

I voted for Xan, because of the romance, but I love some other characters just as much, especially with BG1 NPC Project: Coran (his romance was just as good, though tricky), Kivan, Xzar, Edwin, Alora... so many great characters!

I voted Coran. While I'm not a big fan of elves, I do love those Fighter/Thieves, and he's the best there is.

It was a hard choice, but Kivan. After all, everybody seems to take BG1 NPC project into account (which is the greatest prize it's authors can get, I guess).

I can't really say that the results, so far, are very surprising. Xan, Kivan and Dynaheir in the lead are all fairly predictable. 
Somebody should do a good Dynaheir mod for BGII, btw.

Imoen, again thanks to the modders. In Tutu plus banters she is so much fun that I retrospectively understand why I romanced her in BG2. Dynaheir comes second because her romance is excellent. Geez, where would we be without you modders? Playing Doom again?
