"Tyranny is a quiet thing at first, a prim and proper lady pursing her lips and shaking her head disapprovingly, asking, well what were you doing (wearing that dress, walking home at that hour, expressing those inappropriate thoughts) anyway? It's subtle and insidious, disguised as reasonable precautions which become more and more oppressive over time, until our lives are defined by the things we must avoid. She's easy enough to agree with, after all, she's only trying to help -- and yet she's one of the most dangerous influences we face, because if she prevails, it puts the raping, robbing, axe-wielding madmen of the world in complete control. Eventually they'll barely need to wield a thing, all they'll have to do is leer menacingly and we fall all over ourselves trying to placate them." -godlizard

I voted Coran, because I had to even the odds: Kivan is too damn boring. And I think Coran is actually better in combat. He's a thief, too.

I voted before I realized there are possibly interesting characters I haven't got to know (Shar-Teel, Skie, Safana).

Wow, I don't remember seeing anyone before sayin that Kivan is boring. I agree, by the way. I like Coran, although I don't like how he treats the problem with his kid. Otherwise he's cool and good to have around in the party.

I don't know; he just seems too serious (although he does look like Robin Hood). I prefer more cheerful and laidback characters around.Wow, I don't remember seeing anyone before sayin that Kivan is boring.

Me too, I like characters who actually add something to the overall feel of the adventure. Which doesn't neccesarily mean that they can't be serious. I like having Jaheira around, for example. Even though Kivan does have a reason for being so brooding and serious, it just seems that his character doesn't go much beyond that. And that's depressing, and I prefer my parties lively.

firstly I thought about Edwin as he is one the most powerful chars in the game, but his personality isn't that good. ajantis and kagain are also of great use, but the former is evil and the latter (like most paladins) is too righteous.
Kivan is both powerful and pleasant character, though he keeps some hate in his heart for those who killed Deheriana.

The best to me are Edwin, since he's awesome, along with Korgan and of course, the mighty Tiax.
I like Imoen in bg2 for her cool comments ( and she's hot ), and Minsc is just plain funny, even though he's good ( and i tend to dislike good characters, especially paladins ).
I also dislike Jaheira's annoying bossy comments.
Well, I stab most NPC's who disagree with me in the back anyway >=D
Tiax would be my favorite out of all, he's damn funny and does'nt mind when I just kill stuff without a reason.

I dunno what it is about Viconia, mayhaps the fact that shes a drow and the fact that drows hold a special place in my heart, but she just happens to be the girl of the game that completely wins my heart.
And what's not to love about mentally unstable loony? Frank Welker won my heart with the splendid job he pulled off shifting from calm and collected to the sudden HERP DERP.
Now, if we leave the idiot fangirly side with us, Xan is the character adored by my whole family since my years in elementary school, (I still hear my mom mumble his "Let us simply save our efforts and just lie down and die" quote from time to time.) His pessimistic attitude has always been considered humerous, despite the urges to punch him as well.

This is a BG1 pool, not a BGT/BGII one...The problem is I usually end up taking Imoen, Nalia and Xan, and I barely have enough room for my PC a fighter and ANOTHER mage!
The best combo is Fighter/Paladin or Ranger PC, with Minsc, Dynaheir, Imoen, Branwen... and usually Jaheira or Ajantis. Thus the Dynaheir.
