In all my time playing BG2 this is the only quest in the game I have not be able to figure out - and it's bugging me.
I have checked the ranger cabin, rescused Mazzy, talked to the monsters...and I still can't solve it.
Anyone know what I should do?

They say the world is going to Hell.
They are wrong.
The world IS Hell! Always has been, always will be; except perhaps for the five percent or so of the population who can afford differently.
And, if one must reside in Hell, it is far better to do it as a minion of the Devil than as a member of the damned.

If you've checked the cabin and gathered the diary and the note from Mazzy, you should have a new area called Temple Ruins North-West of Umar Hills on your World Map. The mystery will be solved there.
I also recommend Game Banshee's Walkthrough for help.
Ahhh. Okay, thank you!
