Sooo I tried install big picture.....didn't work out so well. What I'm asking is in what order should I install these mods for best compatibility , if its at all possible?

So basically should I install:
1 ) Shadows Of Amn
2 ) Throne of Baal
3 ) TOB most recent patch

Then from here I have no clue?
4 ) Baldurdash
5 ) Shadows over soubar
6 ) Darkest day
7 ) Ascension    ( Use Weimur's install , not one from BP right?)
8 ) Redemption, ( i know i have to change some file in redemption)
9 ) Big Picture?

So would this be the order? Or any changes? Also do I need tortured souls for BP to work? Or any other mods for that matter? Hopefully I'm not confusing anybody , but the main mods I want are Ascension , Redemption , shadows and darkest day , if I could only have those mods that would be super , but any additions I wouldn't care. So hopefully I'm clear and someone can help me

Shadows over Soulbar has overwriting scripts and blocking triggers, which prevents it from working with *many* other mods; I've been dealing with it screwing our mods only yesterday. So, yeah, regardless of your wishes, it simply wouldn't care if you have other mods installed - it's rather good at blocking their content. EDIT: Not just that: this little beauty blocks the _original_ game content, too.

And as for TDD, the content is still very horrible, in any version. If you want Ascension, Redemption and "smaller" mods, check for various "recommended mods" threads, like this one.

That may have been true for the old non-WeiDU version, but AFAIK, the latest one which was done by King Diamond should be much friendlier in terms of coding and compatibility.

IMO, labeling SoS as highly incompatible due to issues which were present in an ancient release of the mod is a bit unfair, though someone should probably remove the outdated non-WeiDU version from public distribution.

That's the key: as long as these older mods remain available to general public(and some even get included into "bonus CDs" of various magazines), you'll never know which version the user will use. (Which version the original poster is going to use?)

I really wouldn't care about "big mods" and mega-installs either way, but for the fact that I see messages like "Installed the mega-installation from torrents.ru/bwp/smm/Mega-installs/, screwed up, tried again, screwed up again, lost my patience, went to play WoW" more often than I'd care to admit. Sigh. From my limited knowledge, the only user who's ever been able to play a mega-install correctly and comfortably is Azazello.

I know the correct answer is "Well, this user should've really known better, and it's his fault anyway", but it still doesn't sit well with me.

I also play megainstall comfortably ;)
The problem is I rarely give advices to anyone, because usually

I know the correct answer is "Well, this user should've really known better, and it's his fault anyway", but it still doesn't sit well with me

:)

Back to the topic - it seems people do not read some sticky topics or do a search through the forums.
"I have megainstall, but it does not work" or "How do you like my order of install" - a lot of topics like have this appeared lately. And in most cases people (of course) don't even write mod versions.
Such things only flood the forum, in most cases all you need is spending some time searching in these forums.

My megas are usually very playable albeit some minor issues no original game breaks with the 5 big mods or BP

I think we should make sure that Desyirin is using:

5 ) Shadows over soubar v1.12
6 ) Darkest day v.1.12

Likewise with Check the bodies or Region (Reign?) of Terror (vs1.12)

Worldmap6.6.1 is REQUIRED for above mods and not for BP, but will be needed for your planned install. I am not sure if WM is compatible with Baldurdash, BG2Fixpack is a better choice for your planned install, otherwise you may have some crashes with Bdash.
Hope this helps!

The BigWorldProject is very specific to install and should be used by those who are comfortable with replacing BAF, TP2, etc. and some variations of the BWP are still being experimented with to update, so they are not solid compatible.

Mega MODS installations ARE PLAYABLE ... of course it depends on HOW and WHICH mods u have installed.
Let's say, basic users should NOT use Mega Mods installations, but writing generally that they are NOT playable i think it's not fair, at least for the amount of work put by players and modders for them.

1) Don't install Baldurdash Too many conflicts!

Yes you need Tortured Souls installed for BP, but also, your going to find orriginal game material broken and not working. The two worst bugs thus far Are the Planar Sphere bugs, And Item bugs (specialy with Baldurdash installed; this is in constant conflict with BP items, instead install Item Upgrade).

Other major bugs will be found in the Underdark area's and there are too many to mention. I love the game too bud, but the bugs just make it not worth my time to play it. I have utterly given up on BP, and am moving on to SHS2 when released. Nobody has any intension of ever finishing BP, (the Why)!

I've always found it funny how modders create but leave out basic users. But that's realy not the problem! The problems is the constant change, but even with that said, I certainly do apreciate all efforts.
Any Suggestions for smaller mega mod that would include:

Tortured Souls
Shadows over Soubar
CTB

(Don't want to use BP)?
