Baldur's Gate II is and always will be one of my favorite games. I have purchased Baldur's Gate I too a while ago, and started playing it, but I was a bit intimidated by the old engine that requires a lot more scrolling. So would you suggest using TuTu from the very start? Is there an engine-conversion only mod? And would playing the game with a kit for the first time be considered...well...cheating? I'm just afraid I'll end up coming back to BGII for the n-th time again, and I want to replay it and ToB once with the same character after I finish BGI, so using the same engine would set the atmosphere better.

Yes, I would suggest Tutu, or, if you have an English distribution of the game(which most of us do), then EasyTutu distribution of Tutu.

If you'd like to find some mods for it, check the modlist, or http://www.pocketplane.net/tutumods.

BG1 NPC Project(in my signature) is strongly recommended. If you visit Pocket Plane and G3 forums, you'll find more mods for Tutu and BG2 both, as well as various "recommended" threads and installation orders.

...

If you have the Tales of the Sword Coast and BG2:ToB, then why not use the BGT. It's stable and you can use the same main char in both parts of the game, although you need to have both games installed with full install and have the patches applied etc. it's all in the ReadMe, except that you need this(the patch) too.

Deactivated account. The user today is known as The Imp.

Thank you for the quick replies. I'll go with the EasyTuTu this time, it seems less gameplay-changing.

Sorry for the double post, but I have a problem. After about an hour of installing full versions of BG1 and BG2 with ToTSC and ToB and EasyTuTu, I decided to start a random BG1 game just to see the engine changes. Clicked on the mage spell book for no reason, and I'd noticed that the Magic Missile spell icon was looking odd, like it was just copy/pasted from the quick spell in-game bar. When I right-click on it, the game crashes. All the other spells (at least for lvl 1, couldn't check for any of the higher levels) look normal and are right-clickable.

Can anyone help?

I recommend asking all EasyTutu-related questions in EasyTutu forum, so that EasyTutu distribution author, Macready, is able to answer:
http://forums.pocket...board,46.0.html
(if you have other mods installed, please, post your Weidu.log)
- also, try using the search function there: chances are your question has already been answered.
