Hi all,

I'm presently trying to kill Kangaxx, but I always end up with my party being imprisoned by the demi-lich, one by one. I did have my mage reflect some 3 Imprisonment spells in a row, but eventually he too was imprisoned and game over (he's my PC).

I put my party all against the lich with Protection from Magical Energy (if I remember right... I'm using several mods, so I may have more spells than the original game). But when the lich stops time, it dispels those protections, and after it turns demi-lich, my party is again defenseless, and without time to put protections back up again.

So, please, do you have any advice to defeat Kangaxx?

Thanks.

Don't waste the Scrolls on him.

You can use Mace of Disruption to destroy his Lich form, first.

For the Demilich form (I gather that's the one you have difficulty with given your notes on how you've been imprisoned) there's a few things you can use.

The following Protection is effective against a Demilich
Spell Immunity : (select) Abjuration
It is probably the best spell, however you may need to prepare 2 doses in case it runs out in the middle. He won't dispel it while he is a Demilich.

What if Kangaxx targets other party members? Well from experience it seems he keeps focusing on the one generally nearest to him and doing the most damage. To keep your Mage that way, make sure your Mage is NEAR him with the Spell Immunity on. If you are just with SoA weapons, and are not using the cheesy Staff of Magi (the only +5 toHit weapon useable by a Mage in SoA), nor using any ranged +5 Weapons (Sling of Everard), you can cast Melf's Minute Meteors on your Mage, that will ensure that you keep doing damage to Kangaxx so he'll be more than likely to try and Imprison only you. He may occasionally improve the odd other person, so just keep a Freedom Scroll handy for use after the spell.

I heard from a friend that the Cleric Spell Chaotic Commands also provides immunity to Imprisonment, so you can try and use that if you like, I've never used it before. You can also use Berserker Rage, I believe it does provide Immunity to Imprisonment.

Alternatively, if you have Dragon's Breath, just cast it on him the moment he spawns. After a few load games, at the most, the damage output should be enough to instantly destroy the demilich form.

I like the cheesy Simulacrum using the two scrolls of protection from magic tactic.
Then you can have a front line fighter dealing more damage, with any +4 or better weapon you choose. Carsomyr is a good choice.

Also, if you've been to Spellhold already and aren't afraid of the -2 to reputation, the Slayer form is immune to Imprisonment.

Hey, there must be at least fifty ways to kill your Kangaxx, right? :D

But normally I just keep the main character and one mage with Freedom scroll out of the way and have melee fighters beat up on him. Usually they'll get him before he can Imprison anyone, but sometimes he'll catch one or two of them with his nasty spell and then the mage'll have to release them.

I do believe the Protection from Undead scroll works. The green ones.
"She could resist temptation. Really she could. Sometimes. At least when it wasn't tempting." - Calli Slythistle
"She was a fire, and I had no doubt that she had already done her share of burning." - Lord Firael Algathrin
"Most assume that all the followers of Lathander are great morning people. They're very wrong." - Tanek of Cloakwood

If you're going to resort to various other tactics including the use of Freedom scrolls, why not just use a green Protection from Magic on a beefy fighter, then smack both the lich and the demilich until they're ectoplasm? This is the only time in the game I've ever had to use this scroll, so you shouldn't miss having it anywhere else.
I did battle with monsters, and they became me, and when I gazed into the abyss, the abyss looked away shyly.
See, it helps not to believe all the stuff that philosophers spout.

In my case I used up my Protection from Magic on a certain psycho kensai who was trying to take my Celestial Fury katana. :P Jerk.

Protection from Magic and Protection from Undead both work well though.

Actually that scroll is supposed to be used to the demilich, not the warrior.
