I recently installed BGT and so far all is going well, though I am only in the early stages - really enjoying the game.
I think that when I last played SOA I was able to disable the intro movies, but I can't remember how - anyone know?

It should work. Make sure it is under the [Program Options] heading and you don't have a second entry somewhere.

Cause the movie settings simply reset themselves when you load up the game.

Well there is a mod for this. But basically it just removes all the three movies from a bif that are played from the {game path}/CD2/Movies/
It's likely called movintro.bif
:rolleyes: The safest way is probably to move the file to a different directory(so you can reinsert it if needed).

The mod is...

'Disable Startup Movies' tweak by Miloch {"DisMovie" mod}
- So that you don't have to watch the startup movies each time the game starts, making for a faster startup time.
Does NOT disable other movies in the game.

If the first run fails, try ensuring your settings are 'standard': https://www.gibberli...&comment=106066

{Mod attached for posterity - thank you Miloch!}

Well, first I had put the 'disable movies' command under the movies section of the ini file, so that's why it didn't work before. When I put it under the program options section it works, but the screen comes up all flickering. If I minimise and restore it then the flicker goes. I tried removing the bif file from the folder, which works, but also gives the flickering screen. Then I tried renaming the bif file .bak; that works too, and sometimes without the flickering. The tweak also works, but with flickering. The flickering stops by the time I reach the load screen anyway, so I suppose (I hope) it's not a problem? I am playing at 1024; is it that the movies play at a different res?
Thanks for the replies.

Flicking sounds like hardware problem. But if you're able to play the game without flickering, just ignore it.
