Great news, Leonardo! Especially since I tried SMM/IEMI and failed. Something about a version conflict or something with the .xml file or whatever it was. But anyway, that's *fantastic* news!

Edit: Now that I think about it more, I have a few questions.

1) Will this front-end downloader be just for the BiG World version, or will we be able to use it to download Expert version files as well?
2) Will there be an automatic installer at all?
3) Will there be dependancy/conflict checks? (In other words, if I select not to use a certain mod or component and another mod or component in the list needs that mod or component, it'll say something... or if I select to use a certain mod or component and another mod or component in the list is broken by that mod or component)

Apologies for any inconvenience this causes, but v8 of SCS II has a reordered tp2. This may cause problems for automated installers.

Miloch your post was Very helpful! I did run the file to fix it, but it would still not install. When I moved the backup that Revised Battles made I was able to install BP. I am not sure what the problem is, just that i could not install it with the version from Revised Battles and could with the earlier backup.

I'm not sure what the problem is either. I checked the code for BP and Revised Battles and jael01.cre itself and didn't see any issues with it, though at least 5 different mods are messing with it.

Miloch,
I tried the Resfixer after Revised battles and BP still failed with Jael01 (also Rengaa.CRE). I took them out of override (almost the same method as Chev) and reinstalled BP. I replaced them after then I CLUA them ingame to see if they crash and it didn't seem to be messy. We'll see what happens in the context they are in to be for sure. :whistling:

The new guide v6 is not ready yet. Because of some essential changes (revised Battles, SCSII) I decided to publish as a interim solution 5.3 in a few days.

I think it has to do with some mod messing with specific.ids in cruel and unusual ways. On my next test install (if I ever get around to one), I'm going to try putting Tactics and Ascension before the Fixpack and see if that helps. I also commented out some of the extraneous code in the Tactics tp2 that copies ids files for no good reason, and copied the full specific.ids to override manually, as I think I mentioned in another thread.

Anyone knows if/when there will be new compatible versions of Tactics and Ascension so they can get back on the nonexpert list?

I think Ascension is being worked on, as for Tactics I doubt it (because of all the other tactical mods and such, a shame really).

I have updated my guide to v5.3. Not all your suggestions are already integrated.

This will be the last time I bring an update with the old installers. They will be replaced by a sensationell new setup. But unfortunately this still will take some weeks.

Thank You  , however I didn't see tactics mod anywhere and I do intend to use it so do I continue as before and install tactics before fixpack or do you have a better solution (I won't be using BP except Improved Suldanessallar).

Most of the components are already included either in BP, Revised Battles or SCSII v8 or aren't compatible at all. There remain only three components that are not included in any mod. I didn't want to handle with an unsatisfying solution, so I skipped Tactics completely. If anyone finds a better solution (= patching instead of overwriting) I will add Tactics again.

This is great, thanks EVERYONE who has contributed! I remember several years ago when I first played BG, reading about Horred's painstaking development of BP...and avoiding it like the plague because it all seemed too hard.

But I'm back, and keen to give this a go. BWPv5.3 seems a lot more readable (and do-able) than BWPv5.2, but perhaps that's because I've spent an awful lot of time over the last week or so reviewing mod forums and readmes.

I'd prefer to do a 'manual' install than use the batch files, I'll certainly provide as much feedback as I can. I have noted a few things below, mainly just minor typographical glitches, but there are some questions I would like answered (theses are in bold below):

P3 minor typo about half-way down the page, ?Projet? should be ?Project?
P4 minor typo about half-way down the page, ?Projet? should be ?Project?

P16 at the very bottom of the page there is an entry numbered ?1.6.0? which reads ?ATTENTION: If you want to install the Tactics mod, copy the file AR1800.ARE S from the directory...\Tactics2\nforest\copy into the override folder..?. This possibly should be numbered ?1.3.0? instead of ?1.6.0?, and further is a little confusing in that the ?Tactics? mod has been removed from BWP (yet is referred to numerous times throughout the guide).

P17 at the very bottom of the page is step 1.4.5, ?Multi-Stronghold?. Suggest a note be added to this item along the lines of ?similar (improved?) component may be installed later from the BG2TweakPack. Incompatible with CliffHistory and Oversight mods (though these are both currently classified ?Expert?-version mods?. Maybe it?s just me that likes multi-strongholds .

P20- Why are these ?Pre-NEJ? mods (all those in 'Chapter 2' designated ?Expert-version??

P25 there are two items numbered ?4.3.3?. Additionally there is a small typo in the first of these; ?Setup-CtB.exei? should be ?Setup-CtB.exe?.

P31 ?~SETUP-BONEHILLV215.TP2~? should be
?~SETUP-BONEHILLV225.TP2~??. I think there are other instances of this sort of thing as well but I didn't note them individually.

P35 minor typo in first paragraph (numbered 9.1), ?bet? should be ?get?.

P37 in section 9.4 (Mur? Neth v7), the note reading ?Has banters with Indira, if this mod was installed BEFORE.? is a little unclear. ?Has banters with Indira, if Indira is installed BEFORE Mur?Neth.? would be better.

P41 In section 10.8.7 (SCSv8), there is a note which reads ?This component is not compatible with the component "Iron shortage causes weapons, armor, and shields to shatter" from Baldur's Gate Trilogy WeiDU.? However, there is no mention of any such component in the installation instructions for BGT-WeiDU, nor could I find anything relating to this in the BGT-Weidu readme

P42 Also from 10.8.7, there are a note which reads ?Some parties of enemies don?t spawn with this component installed.? I thought this was fixed, or even intentional (they spawn, but not always where you expect them)?

P58 Section 14.4 (?Saerileth v13?). Suggest a note be added along the lines of ?not compatible with multi-romance mods?.

P59 minor typo, on the first line ?goodges? should be ?good?.

P64 section 14.27 lists the mod as ?Yasraena v8 german?. Slightly confusing, it might be interpreted as being a German-only mod, despite non-English mods being otherwise explicitly indicated as such in the guide (whereas, in fact, v8 of the mod now includes a German translation).

P67 section 14.48 the description of the ?Sarah SoA? mod is in German.

P84 section 20.1.2?s instructions are in German.

P99- number mismatches between linklist and Guide (e.g NPC Flirts is 22.14 in the Guide, but 25.05 in the linklist, Bigg Tweaks is 22.11 or 22.10). I think the 2 documents should be integrated into one ? how difficult is it to put the links into the guide? Only one doc to maintain then!

P116 Section 23.4.5 (BG2 Tweaks v6 ? Convenience Tweaks/Cheats? includes a note reading ?This component is not compatibl with SOS!?. Apart from the minor typo (?compatibl? should be ?compatible?), the BG2 Tweaks readme specifically includes information indicating that these mods ARE compatible.

P119 Section 23.5.2 (Ding0?s Tweak Pack v20) includes a comment, ?Don?t install! (Salk)? in relation to the [Kensai Ryu's Restored Drow Innate Abilities]? Why?

P122 near the end of section 23.8.2 (Mix Mod v5), there is a comment in German.

right-o, time to get installing!

btw, I'm not sure if I've posted this in the right place - it is a little tricky to know exactly what aspects of BWP belong in what threads. Please feel free to move it if appropriate.

Thank you for your detailed report. I made all necessary changes and plan to update my guide, installers and fixpack tomorrow.

P20- Why are these ?Pre-NEJ? mods (all those in 'Chapter 2' designated ?Expert-version??

The determination between Expert / non-Expert is not the last word on the subject. We made a survey about what to declare as Expert. Non-Expert should be as stable as possible at this time. In Expert there are not only high risky mods, but also there are mods that are indeed bugfree, but none would like to play them.

This information is not up-to-date. It should read instead:
This component is incompatible with the similar component of SCSII ?Replace +1 magical weapons with fine ones? (it doesn't matter which one you install, except that the SCSII versions will not be shatter-proof).

P42 Also from 10.8.7, there are a note which reads ?Some parties of enemies don?t spawn with this component installed.? I thought this was fixed, or even intentional (they spawn, but not always where you expect them)?

I don't know whether it is fixed. Can anyone answer this?

P119 Section 23.5.2 (Ding0?s Tweak Pack v20) includes a comment, ?Don?t install! (Salk)? in relation to the [Kensai Ryu's Restored Drow Innate Abilities]? Why?

That's a question I asked myself several times. I found that note long ago, but I don't remember what the problem was.

Hello I am working on downloading all the updated files but I cannot find
20.1 Resource Fixer v1
21.2 Solaufein Flirt Pack v4.0

The linklist says the first was incorporated into the BWP Fixpack, so I guess you don't need to get it separately (used to be here). The links for the second on the linklist work for me.

I just installed BiG World expert 5.3 with 6.0 fixpack and encountered a strange error.

On almost default install (missing only the mods below):
The mod TXTMUSIC is not installed
The mod NIKITA is not installed
The mod VICONIA is not installed
The mod VILDRA is not installed
The mod MID_BIFF is not installed
The mod QUESTOR is not installed
The mod ADPACK is not installed
The mod SOLAUFEIN FLIRT is not installed
The mod W_GUIis not installed

bgmain.exe is crashing when i click New Game:

"Faulting application bgmain.exe, version 2.5.0.2, faulting module bgmain.exe, version 2.5.0.2, fault address 0x00184b9a."res
It doesnt matter if i start BG1, SoA or ToB new game, effect is the same.

What is even more interesting, if i remove Widescreen mod, install W_GUI and then reinstall widescreen again, game works fine, even in quite nonstandard resolution like 1440x900.
The problem is that i dont quite like the looks of W_GUI.

I`m using 3d hardware acceleration, nonstandard resoltuion in BGConfig (1024x768), but this setup works on a clean, patched install.

Attaching weidu.log, thanks for assistance in advance.

EDIT: The crash happens exactly before "Starting New Game" screen.

That's indeed strange... I'm currently playing BWP 5.2 with almost all mods installed and I can play the widescreenmod with and without W_GUI.
Is it possible to play the game without widescreenmod? With a default resolution?
