Hi, folks!

First of all, congratulations to Leonardo, because this is way more than anybody here expected!

I installed the Monster with nearlyall the components mentioned. Although the installation went through with no errors, I have problems, that make the Megamod unplayable. I don't think, it's a problem of the installation order, I think it is one or more mods, that have bugs.

1. Most NPCs don't start dialogues with me. E.g. Imoen, when I kick her out of the party. She doesn't say a word.
I have to talk to Xar and Montaron to start the dialouge. I have to start the dialogue with Garrik for the quest with Silke in Bergost. If I kill Silke, Garrick doesn't start his dialoguefor joining my party. I have to talk to him to start it. If I let Silke live and attack the other chars, she doesn't start her dialogue either.

2. Many Monsters and other enemies don't attack me. They just stand around and wait for me, to come near and attack them. They don't even follow me. Without BP installed the monsters attack me. But within 3 Megamods I never had problems with BP

3. Sometimes my NPC just stops attacking and stands around, waiting to be killed.

Does someone know which components of wich mods could cause this?
Probably it is scs? Which version do I have to use?

Could it be, that one of the fixes Leonardo made contains errors or causes errors?
Without BP installed The Monsters attackme, so probably there is the problem.

I backuped my installation after the Mid_Biff. This installation is corrupted, too, because the NPCs don't start the dialogues. Thisis why I think, that scs or another KI mod is responsable for this.

If anyone knows Where the problem could be, please let me know!!!

Thanks to all of you and good luck with the installation!

Marvin

That's exactly what i expected to happen ... that's why i'm sceptic about this. It's not possible to troubleshoot these players' issues

And that's exactly why the guide is a BETA, since no one said it's bugless... now if people help him, instead of talking as you do, maybe he can even write a guide with less mods, but working.

Anyway, talking about serious matters, i found the same problems described above, included the BP reinstall issue, caused by one of Ding0's packs.

Yes, the issue with the questpack appeared also for me, but I didn't use this installation any further, but deleated it imediately and restored my backup, so here there is no problem

Further information on my install:

1. I installed with WeiDu 2.01
2. I didn't use the .bat files
3. I played the game in Multyplayer.

The issue that the in-party NPCs don't attack, could be caused by lags in the Multyplayer game
I made a new install without scs v6 and without NPCproject, now everything works just fine, the monsters attack and the NPCs talk on their own.

But guys, all the rest works perfectly. Never before I had an install with no errors. I really think, that we can get this monster running
There are 3 or 4 bugs, that have to be fixed, but then I don't know why there should be any reason for saying, that a playing or even troubleshooting the new megamod isnot possible.

Good luck ... please note that it's not the guide the problem, but the infinite mods installed alltogether. If u need a guide with less mods take a look at my signature or other posts of experienced players around.

Marvin , did you solve the problem with xar and mondaron where you had to talk them to start the dialog? Because for them i dont think NPC project v14 and SCS has something to do. i have the same problem with you. i install the mods up to bgtv1.04 from big world project. Then i tried to start a new game to see if montaron and xar will start the dialog and they dont. I still have to talk to them to start the dialog.

Greetings Leonardo Watson,

I haven't read through this thread, but only seeing that a megamod thread was created, and even more a so contemporary one, i can only thank you so much

All right, now i have read all the posts in this thread.

:P :D :) 8) :( ;) :o :o ^_^ -_-      :woot:           :crying: <_< :whistling:

The above is the range of emotions that such an ambitious undertaking creates in me. I consider myself an experienced live (PnP) role player. I started playing IE games a long time ago and was thrilled by the possibility to keep involving myself in rpg now that i don't have the time to play so often. I played BG+TOTSC, BG2+TOB, IWD+HOW, IWD2 and Torment countless times, until i was disgusted with my lust for them and gave away or threw to the garbage all of them. I was like a junkie and i wanted to be free of them all. Little did i know...
Recently i bought a computer magazine which had an oblation to rpg computer games. Naturally, BG1+2 had prominent role in it. There i read for the first time about the existence of a modding community. I was - and still am - a complete ignoramus concerning all this side activity. I only knew of the official patches - yes, there are guys like me, believe it or not! That magazine threw me in addiction again. It was like mana, to play the same game, only it wouldn't be the same! I tell you all, this game is a fix equal to drugs! First time i experimented with bigpicture but it failed. Then i put only SOS in a clean install and it worked. Then my appetite grew and i started putting every extra mod i could find. I had more failures than successes and i decided to stop again. But now that i find this post, i realize the fire still burns in me!
Congratulations on a very difficult road you have chosen. I will follow your progress with great interest, although i won't be able to contribute. I am only a player, not a modder or an installer. I do like challenging games though, so i will pray for the day that this monster effort will be bug-free (if and when) in order to try it. It will be the MOTHER OF ALL RPGS!

In the meantime i want to ask all of you who read this thread a question. I want to play BG2+TOB again, but i want to try something lighter than this BIG effort that is still out of my league. I want to try another big mod, The Darkest Day. Could any of you spare the time to make a list with other smaller mods i could add to it? I have a list i have prepared, but i am not sure about the right order of installation. I don't have to have all of them. They are just all i found. If someone of you would tell me that i can make a game with even 1/4 of my list, i will be grateful.

And another question. I have found 3 kinds of Xpcap removers in the web; just Xpcap40level, safeXpcap40level and a Xpcap50level. I am interested in spellcasting more than anything else, so i want to put the mod that lets the spells reach 50thlevel in terms of results. I am afraid to combine it with the Xpcap50level mod, because i have read that it puts experience to -1 and makes a mess of other stuff in the character. What should i do? Is there a safe version of the 50levelc cap mod, or should i play it safe and use the safeXpcap40 with the spell50 mod?

I am sorry for the long letter, but all this activity in the modding community makes me hungry for more BG and i really need your help.

Here is my list:

Non WeiDU components:
1- BGII-ThroneofBhaal_Patch_26498_ENGLISH.exe
2- BG2ThroneOfBhaalFixPack112.exe

When Horred the Plague started his Big Picture a few years ago, everyone told him that can't be done. Today it goes without saying to install SOS and TDD together with ROT and TS and much more mods.

One thing I mostly appreciate is the attitude to life not to say "It's not possible" but to ask "How can we make it happen?"

Marvin reported a problem with his installation.
Why appears this problem?
What causes this problem?
How can one avoid this problem?
This would help to improve the install. But it is really not helpful, if one merely says "I have known that" and feels gloomy about the megamod.

I hope for constructive suggestions to enhance the megamod itself and the instructions. They are aimed to become an accumulation of all needed information about how to install, what can be done and what not.

The fact is: there are a lot of posts from experienced players around here at spellholdstudios, but there are no all-embracing instructions. Merely some special problems are examined at most different places and are understandable only for the specialist.

I would like to give, however, to the normal player guidance which makes it possible to install a megamod without gathering informations bit by bit during several weeks. It is aimed to become ONE advisor for ALL needed informations around mega-installs.

It doesn't matter how large the personal megamod of any player would be: we need a standard to be able to make corrections step by step. And we need self-confidence and the will to do so. But how experience shows: all can be done if you only wish.

According to the reported problems: from his posts in a german forum it seems that Marvin found out the cause for his troubles and I hope, he will report soon his solution.

Is there a safe version of the 50levelc cap mod, or should i play it safe and use the safeXpcap40 with the spell50 mod?

Use the version from the BG2 Tweak Pack instead. You might also consider the BG2 Fixpack and Game Text Update rather than the older non-WeiDU versions.

Miloch thank you for the links. I already had BG2 Tweak Pack v5, but i didn't have the WeiDU Fixpack. I look at my list and realize that most of the mods i have gathered are in WeiDU. Everywhere on the web i have read that WeiDU mods work better with other WeiDU and are non-risk or less risky than and/or mixing with non-WeiDU components. What do you think, is it better to just put the official patch and only the WeiDU? Anyway i don't see anything special or something that probably isn't covered in one of the WeiDU mods, so i'd be willing to do it if it will provide greater safety. What are your thoughts as to my other question? Can i also put TDD on top of the list? About the Tweak pack, what kind of XPcap remover does it have, up to 40, or up to 50? And does it work for multiclass characters as well?

Most of those non-WeiDU components can be found in other WeiDU mods - probably in BG2 Tweaks. It removes the XP limit or caps it at 20 or 30 depending on your choice. It should work for all chars. The Ultima Weapon or whatever probably won't hurt if it's just a weapon - dunno what it is though. As for TDD and the other mods, I can't really say - my specialty is BG1, not BG2. Nose around here and other forums for specifics about the mods or BG2 mod posts and I'm sure you'll find the answer though.

Because for them i dont think NPC project v14 and SCS has something to do. i have the same problem with you. i install the mods up to bgtv1.04 from big world project. Hmm, I'm not sure about Xzar and Montaron anymore.... probably the HC is really supposed to start the dialogue.
The only thing I'm really sure about is of when you are kicking out the NPCs, then they will have something to say, if they don't, there is something wrong, if they do talk, everything should be alright.

But I'm just too unexperienced with BG1 to be sure.

I found something according to my problem

Ghuls I had that problem, too, but also with many more. Now without scs (but also without many other mods) it works.
The Problem is, that right now, I don't have as much time as I would need to test it.

Error in install guide.

4.4. Tortured Souls TS-BP v6.10
~SETUP-TS-BP.TP2~
The Mod contains a task with the Yoshimo family, as well as a romance with Valygar for a female PC
and a romance with Sime for a male PC - this are two absolutely different plots!
Don't installTortured Souls TS-BP v6.11! This version ist not compatible with the Megamod!

It should read:

If there is ever a TS-BP v6.11, the BP in the title would mean that it is for the Mega Mod installs.

Marvin, i tried to play original bg1 without any mods to see if Montaron and Xzar start the dialog but i had to start the dialog again. So i suppose there is nothing wrong with the installed mods from Big world project as far as it concern about this two.

To solve the problem with the Npc where when you are kicking them out they said nothing just don't install the --Better calls for help-- component from Sword Coast Stratagems (i use scsv7)

Hi Leonardo. There is a bad link in the addresses you gave in the pdf for the bundled mods in packages. It's the last one:

I keep getting a warning in german about a page that doesn't exist. Below is the message.
