All right, now i have read all the posts in this thread.
The above is the range of emotions that such an ambitious undertaking creates in me. I consider myself an experienced live (
PnP) role player. I started playing
IE games a long time ago and was thrilled by the possibility to keep involving myself in rpg now that i don't have the time to play so often. I played
BG+
TOTSC,
BG2+
TOB,
IWD+HOW,
IWD2 and Torment countless times, until i was disgusted with my lust for them and gave away or threw to the garbage all of them. I was like a junkie and i wanted to be free of them all. Little did i know...
Recently i bought a computer magazine which had an oblation to rpg computer games. Naturally,
BG1+2 had prominent role in it. There i read for the first time about the existence of a modding community. I was - and still am - a complete ignoramus concerning all this side activity. I only knew of the official patches - yes, there are guys like me, believe it or not! That magazine threw me in addiction again. It was like mana, to play the same game, only it wouldn't be the same! I tell you all, this game is a fix equal to drugs! First time i experimented with bigpicture but it failed. Then i put only SOS in a clean install and it worked. Then my appetite grew and i started putting every extra mod i could find. I had more failures than successes and i decided to stop again. But now that i find this post, i realize the fire still burns in me!
Congratulations on a very difficult road you have chosen. I will follow your progress with great interest, although i won't be able to contribute. I am only a player, not a modder or an installer. I do like challenging games though, so i will pray for the day that this monster effort will be bug-free (if and when) in order to try it. It will be the MOTHER OF ALL RPGS!
In the meantime i want to ask all of you who read this thread a question. I want to play
BG2+
TOB again, but i want to try something lighter than this BIG effort that is still out of my league. I want to try another big mod, The Darkest Day. Could any of you spare the time to make a list with other smaller mods i could add to it? I have a list i have prepared, but i am not sure about the right order of installation. I don't have to have all of them. They are just all i found. If someone of you would tell me that i can make a game with even 1/4 of my list, i will be grateful.
And another question. I have found 3 kinds of Xpcap removers in the web; just Xpcap40level, safeXpcap40level and a Xpcap50level. I am interested in spellcasting more than anything else, so i want to put the mod that lets the spells reach 50thlevel in terms of results. I am afraid to combine it with the Xpcap50level mod, because i have read that it puts experience to -1 and makes a mess of other stuff in the character. What should i do? Is there a safe version of the 50levelc cap mod, or should i play it safe and use the safeXpcap40 with the spell50 mod?
I am sorry for the long letter, but all this activity in the modding community makes me hungry for more
BG and i really need your help.

My fantasy story
"Man, in his discussions with other men about questions of religion, statecraft, geography, trade, has always reached a point in the discussion where it has seemed wise to reply to his opponent by disemboweling him or knocking his brains out."
My name is Thomas Hockenberry, Ph.D., and I think the "Ph.D." stands for "Pouring His Draft."
"The study of modern science today is being done by the brain of primitive man."
