Hi,

I have recently re-installed my baldurs gate I & II with the intent to combining them with BGT, however I found once I had BG II installed and ran for the first time before running the BGT install that the menu graphics & text are corrupted, although I've not gone so far as to start a game yet.

Anyone got any ideas?

Alex

Sounds like somehow your dialog.tlk file got corrupted. Not sure how that'd happen on a new install unless your media was scratched or dirty. Might try descratching/cleaning the CD and reinstalling again.

I need some help to get my BG install to work with Vista. I am trying to install Classic Adventures mod but either I get the default BG game (no CA screen) or I cannot even launch the game at all.

Here's the error I get, any ideas?

Do you get that error with other mods? I've never seen that before, and I have Vista...

I had the same problem as Celestine. Are we the only ones experincing trouble with Vista+BG2? Please note: I did a full install.

A ton of people have had this problem - just google "chdimm.cpp 628." It was around before Vista. In your BG2\data directory there should be a file called Hd0GMosc.bif. If not, something has gone wrong. If it is there, it has probably become corrupted and you may need to restore it from the CD (or get a copy of the file somewhere else). Make sure the CD is clean and scratch-free and your hard drive is free from errors. Also, clean out your cache, temp and tempsave folders.

From the error reports, it seems to indicate either a corrupt install (from defective media), game corruption introduced by a savegame or a mod being installed to an incorrect place, where it can't find this file.

Just an update. I re-installed BG into my documents folder and am now able to run CA on it without any problems.

Thank you.

If someone has time we should compile of this information into one area.

Somewhere like here?

A bit tricky to find, but it exists.
