"Mods worth playing" isn't a category that necessarily includes only "the best."

I heard that IA is the mod of mods. 
Weimer's Tactics is good if you like hard encounters. My mods of course are good. NPC mods like Keto and Yasraena are excellent. Valen and Chloe are good npcs if you like power gaming npcs. There is a lot of stuff out there.

My fav mods are BG Tutu for BG1 since it makes it more like BG2. And Xan NPC for BG2. (you ALL know I love that guy
Mhm.Anyways, if its BG2 NPCs you're looking for, I'd cast my vote towards Amber and Fade. Ace's Sarah mod over at G3 is also a good choice if you're looking for a female-romancable ranger with pretty well-rounded stats.
So to summarize that:
Amber: Special skills, decent fighter/thief, intriguing character development (romance or not), allows 2Player romance.
Fade:
Um... heh, she's my fav, nuff said. 
Oh and she's a decent Fey'ri thief, with an intriguing background, so yeah.
Sarah: Decent Ranger, romanceable, friendship path otherwise, nice music
good with a longbow.Oh and she's interesting and new on the scene so yeah.
Anyways, there's my suggestions if its NPCs for BG2 you're after.

I would assume Red Knight means mods that <HESHE> can actually go download at this point, which would exclude Emmeline. Or am I misinterpreting?
Oh believe me you are misinterpreting Azzy.
But it'd really spoil things if I reveal things immediately.
But here's a clue, she's been out for awhile, and to hate her is death.
Literally at one point.
Either rate, she's been out... for possibly longer than all the others, though maybe not as a mod.
