As I said in the other thread:

[W]ebsite and banner design is always possible if you have the skills. Have you ever done anything like it? Both will require clients, however - and with the very tough competition on the web design market, it'll take time to build up something. Contacts is necessary. It does pay a lot of money if you know what you're doing, though.

Before directing you anywhere, it would help to know how much experience with it you have. Have you ever tried working on websites before?

w3schools.com are usually good for tutorials. :)

If you are going to have any chance of suceeding as a web designer, you need how to learn (x)html and css properly. That is the absolute bare minimum, if you want to work on your own. If you decide to team up with other people, you could get away with pure Photoshop knowledge if you have someone that codes for you - but such a person is difficult to find. However, in that case, you probably ought to learn Flash too.

The ideal web designer have l33t sk1llz in Photoshop and Flash, as well as good-to-excellent knowledge of xhtml and css, including cross-browser compatibility. JavaScript is a very good skill to have. Communication skills and versaility/adaptability are excellent traits, as well.

You'll need a portfolio of things you've done before you can take on clients - you need to be able to show what you're capable of. Initially, you will need contacts to get clients, before you've grown "big" enough to get new contacts on your own.

If you want to take on larger clients, you will most likely need to work with a web developer capable of server-side scripting and database management in order to ensure that you'll be able to meet the client's needs.

If you're really serious about learning to code properly, I would suggest coding by hand - without a program that generates the code for you. An advanced text editor such as ConTEXT or Textpad might be an idea, though.

If you want a code-generating program anyway, go with Dreamweaver. Don't use Frontpage.

Dreamweaver is a good start, but if you plan on getting serious with it, you`ll see that coding by hand is much better.

My favorite site with tutorials is Pixel2Life, I`m sure you`ll find months and even years worth of stuff there.
