Paris Hilton can be Tomoko. There, she's got a part where she dies (although a bit more major a part than I would want).
If we actually try casting BG NPCs, this can get really crazy, that's why I stuck to BG2 - where there aren't six million NPCs.

Mostly because that's what a generic person thrown into the adventuring life would become.
Thanks to Gorion, mage be be another appropriate decision, but based on the way the player character was raised, fighter and mage are about the only two that actually make sense in the literary sense.

Actually, a cleric or monk is also easy to see, and I wouldn't say a thief would be out of the question, if the protag is a more rebellious, mischievious sort. Unfortunately, it just doesn't work as well with Imoen already covering those parts. I'd say a paladin would be very iffy, and a druid, ranger, or barbarian would be virtually out of the question.

Cleric, maybe. I have a hard time seeing a monk (where would the PC get all the discipline and training? There's no monastery in Candlekeep).
