Yep, already done it. Currently just doing the search-and-replace routine in all of Darian's files in all of his archives I have before I go to class. It's greatly appreciated.

Just make sure you're using NOTVALID instead of INVALID!

By the way, because of the way the keyboard is laid out, it is much easier to type "teh" than it is to tye "the." For that same reason, it is easier to type CD_STATE_NOTVLAD than it is to type CD_STATE_NOTVALID. You are warned.

When you're getting tilde errors you don't understand and you know that the thing you're looking at is closed off, it generally means a missing tilde or END a line or three immediately above.

It's just a typo, since I don't know any Vlads, but it's one I make consistently. Yet another reason I write in Crimson Editor with the highlighters turned on.

When you're getting tilde errors you don't understand and you know that the thing you're looking at is closed off, it generally means a missing tilde or END a line or three immediately above.

And that's another reason to use a text editor with WeiDU highlighters. By using the Document>Syntax Type>WeiDU_DTRAString, it's a heck of a lot easier to find missing tildes.

Ahem.

Now Weidu says there's an error loading T1Dar.cre, without any specifics on why.

Post the relevant bits from setup-Darian.debug and the appropriate lines from the tp2, and we'll tell you. :)

Here's all I could find:

Install Component [Darian, Talon of Myrrhavin, for SoA]?
[I]nstall, or [N]ot Install or [Q]uit?
Installing [Darian, Talon of Myrrhavin, for SoA]
Copying and patching 1 file ...
ERROR: error loading [Darian\Creatures\T1Dar.cre]
Stopping installation because of error.

And the code from the tp2?

Also, is there a creature named T1Dar.cre in the creatures folder of the Darian folder?

COPY ~Darian\Creatures\T1Dar.cre~ ~override\T1Dar.cre~

And yes, there is T1Dar.CRE in the creatures folder. Was it something so simple as needing the suffix bit to be lower-case?

Nope. That's going to have to wait until I get home, if you can't figure it out on your own by then.

Did you turn off the "hide known extensions" thing?

Yep. I played with it for a bit, but for now, I'm doing calculus homework.

Okie, been looking over Darian's .cre file in NearInfinity, and the only thing I can see that looks out of place is that my game reports his kit as Feralan. Darian's alpha testing version is his archer file, and I don't have any mods installed that add new kits, let alone a feralan kit. Could this be the problem?

Not a problem-you're helping me entirely on your own time, and it's more than appreciated. :)

However, when I cracked T1Dar.cre open again to change his kit, I didn't see an archer option, and I haven't downloaded any mods that add new kits, so I don't know where the Feralan thing is coming from.

Not a clue! You don't even get that kit unless you've got UB installed.

Worse comes to worse, create a new cre and try it again.

Feralan is the internal name of the Archer kit.

Yeah, just tried starting a new game with an archer Charname, immediately exported, cracked open the .chr file with NearInfinity, and it listed it as Feralan. I'll try using one of Darian's other .cre files-he's got alternate .cre files for his ranger, stalker, and ranger/cleric versions, which I will be adding as install options and testing after I'm convinced Darian is stable as is.
